  1. Yes you are right, I should learn how to read. Sorry I am just trying to get the best build. I had "bad experience" with AMD so in my head going with Nvidia would change something. Clearly i have no clue what I am doing.
  2. hey are you sure I can run a 3060 with my current psu? ppl have said it would not work
  3. Thanks why not get a 3060? isn't the price similar? Also, how much would I have to pay to have a "good" gaming PC?
  4. Hi, Here are my questions : Is it possible to build a new PC for 1 000$ CAD? I already have a case and PSU that can do the job (I think). Will I be able to keep the RAM I have and add it to the new mother board? Probably useless. Could I play at 1440p? Not a requirement, but for the money spent I want to know. If you think 1k is not enought, let me know. Last time I built a PC was a few years ago and I have to admit the result was not what I expected. I remember paying arround 1 100$ for the build below and a lot of the games I played were not maxed out. What should I do to avoid this feeling? Should I invest more money than 1k? Maybe I had high expectations because at the time 1k was a lot of money for me (compared to a console). I just want to set my expectation this time, will this additional 1k get me better performance or will it feel the same as in 2015? 5. Thanks for trying it's ok. Just out of curisity why are you trying to use LGA1200 in particular? Is it the one that falls in my budget the most?
  6. Thank you for your answer, any reason why you upgraded my SSD? I guess it would be nice to have but not required, right?
  7. Hi everyone, I was wondering if you can help me upgrade my CPU because it is very old and most of my games are lagging when I play. I don't know how to select a part that will be compatible with my other components. I am currently playing Satisfactory and started experiencing a bit of lag. I also do some video editing from time to time. According to canyourunit, all my other component are fine but my CPU doesn't meet minimum recommended. Is this true? 8. Hi, I have been looking for a 2k monitor, 27 inch for a few weeks but i can't decide on one. It will be used for office stuff, a lot of excel, pdf and word. Is there any good deals right now? My budget is 300 to 500 CAD. Living in Montréal if that changes anything. Thanks
  9. Yo guys so it's been a while since you helped me with my PC build (below). It is outdated and was wondering if you could help me upgrade it. Either I will upgrade it or just buy a PS5. Honeslty my first build was disapointing in a sense that every game I played had issues. Maybe it's becaue I updated my monitor from 1080 to 2k and had the same build (duh). But I feel like I always have to do some tweaking before playing a game on PC, when on a console it's just a plug and play. I am not here to have a debate. I just want to see if it is worth for me to upgrade and have a smooth experience on PC. Can you suggest an upgrade that would give me good FPS and nice graphics? I have a BENQ GW2765 for a monitor if that helps. Budget (including currency): 700$ CAD or about 550$ USD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk 2077 and other triple A titles Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($230.01 @ Vuugo) Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($73.98 @ Newegg Canada) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.99 @ NCIX) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.01 @ Vuugo) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card ($424.37 @ Amazon Canada) Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($114.75 @ Vuugo)
  10. Today I open my PC and my display that is connected to my GPU is not working. I test to see if it's a monitor problem or a GPU problem. Turn out it's the GPU because the monitor works fine. I try to update the driver and it tells me that it can't be done since not AMD GPU is detected.
  11. Hi, So this is my setup : I have 1 computer that is connected to 2 monitors and my TV. Monitor 1 : 2560 x 1440 (main one) Monitor 2 : 1920 x 1080 TV : 1920 x 1080 What I want to do is : I might want to be on the 2 monitors for a bit for gaming and then by the touch of a button (HDMI switch) close the 2 monitors and connect to my TV. My current setup : 1 HDMI cable connects my GPU to the HDMI Switcher 2 HDMI cable come out of the Switcher : 1 goes to my Monitor #1 and the other goes to my TV My monitor #2 is connect via VGA. The problem : When ever I press the switch form the monitor to the TV, I don't get a signal and I get he message MODE NOT SUPPORTED on my TV. So I there a way for me to use the switch to go from my 2 monitors to my TV? I want the monitor #1 to stay at 2560x1400. If you find a better way to do this without the switch please tell me. 12. Hi. Used a Corsair K70 with brown MX for 2 years now (gaming). I want a new one but this time I will be using it for typing at my job. I have 150$ CAD = 120 USD to spend on that. What MX should I buy? I don't like blues because they make too much noise. I find the brown were okay. Thanks
  13. Thanks. This is way more expensive tho Do you have anything else that is arround the same price as the K70 I have ?
  14. I bought the 70 Brown MX. I love it. But I feel like it will be too loud if I bring it to my work? Is there any alternative for the same feel keyboard but with less sound? I will keep my K70 for gaming at home and buy a more silent keyboard for work. Also do you think that I am overthinking this? Like will people actually complain from the sound of my keyboard if I bring it to work?
  15. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/LNHYLJ Needed for Microsoft Office, Gaming (LoL, Fortnite, Call of Duty, other Triple As) and a little video edit. Will be played at 1080 What should I change?
  16. Thank you so much for your response. Do you have any models/brands in mind?
  17. Hi I need a secure computer. The one I have might be infected. More detail here : https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/880025-infected-computer/?tab=comments#comment-10881772 I will use this computer ONLY for internet browsing and maybe light Miscrosoft Office usage. # 1 thing is it should be secure. Almost impossible to get keylogged and controled by someone else. # 2 should be cheap, so arround 300 $ CAD or 250 $ USD. #3 needs to be kinda fast for the web browsing Note : I only used windows. I heard linux could be an option. I am willing to learn. Any suggestions ? Some people suggested a Chromebook but I have no idea which one to buy. Thank you
  18. That's the kinda shady stuff I am talking about. If I go to a website like that I feeel like I was infected instantly.
  19. Thank you. Himommies suggested that in my last thread. Do you know where I can buy one as a canadian? I am looking at amazon. Is there anywhere I can look for cheaper prices?
