  1. I have really had nothing but bad experiences with them. Or, better put, I have never had a good experience with them. Some were just blah.
  2. I wasn't able to test Siege last night due to loss of internet, but I did run tests. I ran both Prime95 and AIDA64 Extreme. I ran both for around 20 minutes. Temps climbed to around 62-63 on the CPU and GPU maximum. But no crashes. I have no idea what's wrong.. EDIT: It crashes instantly on Furmark 1080, but runs 720 great. I googled that, 2 people said it happened to them the exact same way and it was the PSU. I am going to try a different PSU and test.
  3. It didn't crash with the integrated. I went to using my 960 again, but on lowest settings, and I've done 3 rounds without crashing. Will try again on Ultra, soon
  4. Would I just go into the BIOS and set it to run on the iGPU and then switch the HDMI from GPU to Motherboard?
  5. This was at the mid range EVGA/Seasonic price. At the time of purchase it was a very well respected unit by users and review sites. I did make sure to get something alright. On the other hand, a friend of mine had an EVGA G2 and it died after a year and a half. So I guess all power supplie models have duds.
  6. I was thinking both, but somewhat leaning towards GPU. I will try using integrated on Rainbow Six Siege where it keeps crashing. I know it won't be playable but it will tell me if it's a GPU problem. PSU is the easiest, so let's hope that's what it is. It's an XFX TS 550W. It's under warranty but XFX is useless and I can't even get ahold of them. But either way, I can get a used Seasonic or something for cheap. Thanks for the info. I will test later this evening.
  7. I did try Memtest. I do not have an easy way, at all, to test stick by stick. But I will make it happen if it comes to it. The PC in question is a desktop that I built 3 years ago. i5 4460, GTX 960. I don't believe it is infected software or a loose power connection. PSU is a possibility, but it is random. It, atleast before, did not seem to matter if it was under load. But I agree that there are near endless possibilities..
  8. I made a post a little while back. The consensus was, reinstall Windows. I got an SSD and reinstalled Windows. It worked for 2 days, now it's crashing again. So it was crashing randomly, 2-10 times a day. Just a straight restart. Everything went black, 2 seconds later, the PC starts like it just restarted. No lag, no blue screen, just off then on. Now, it will not let me turn on a game of Rainbow Six Siege. I cannot tell if it will crash not in a game, as it was random. It has only crashed in game now, but 4 times in a row. I need this fixed in 4 days, or I will be living on campus with a 2nd gen i3 laptop as my only PC. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks. It's not temps. They are monitored all the time.
  9. Don't worry, my computer is back to crashing so all of this was for nothing anyways. Sorry, just upset about it. Now I have 4 days to fix this before college starts. Making a thread now. Thanks again for all the help with this. The SSD is running fantastic. Boot time is less than 1/4 of what it was.
  10. Should I delete the user file(150gb or whatever size) from my HDD now that it is on my SSD?
  11. Alright, I followed your instructions on FireFox. It didn't work, so I went into the profile config and changed the "launch profile xxxxx"(or close to that) and replaced the old profile with my original profile. I am now typing this with my PC. Has everything, including history and login info. I am now working on making everything normal on my desktop lol. Thanks again!
  12. I've been building PCs for a while. Somehow I've never gotten into software. By redoing shortcuts, you just mean remove all the current ones and make new ones from the files? Probably should have asked about Firefox before opening. I will do what you said when I get back home and hope it goes well. You're a life saver.
  13. Permissions seem to be fixed after a restart after moving user files. But shortcuts are still not working, and stuff like my Firefox have none of my Bookmarks or anything. Not sure.
  14. So, the file copied. The desktop filled up, but everything is lifeless shortcuts. I'm not sure what to do. I was assuming that everything would stay the same like my Firefox would have everything still, and my files would stay. Everything is still there obviously, I'm not freaking out, just not sure where to go from here. Thanks for your help so far.
  15. It seems like every file on the HDD is denying permission. Like I said, I am copying the whole user file, it says remaining time like 4-5 hours. 3% done after 25 minutes. No idea if that's right.
  16. Hopefully you're on tonight haha. I installed windows like you said. It worked, plugged my HDD back in and powered on. I went to copy my users/username file to my SSD, and I found I seem to be locked out of pretty much everything on my HDD. I cannot open the user file. I am currently copying the entire file(will be awhile) but I still need to have access to the rest of my files. No idea what to do.
  17. Thanks for the detailed help! I will start this process as soon as I can find a thumbdrive. I assume I won't need a Windows key? Or can I find mine somewhere? I wish I had less than 500GB on the HDD, but alas. Will do!
  18. I was told you must do something with Windows on the HDD or it will mess everything up.
  19. I have an HDD in my computer right now. 1TB WD Blue, with 31GB remaining space. My computer is crashing every couple hours so I was told to reinstall Windows. I decided it's time for an SSD, and why not do it now. While I was just asking for recommendations, a fellow LTTer actually bought me a 500GB MX500. I thank him 1000x times over. So now I have a virtually full 1TB HDD that I don't want to lose, and an SSD that I want as a boot. How do I remove Windows from the HDD, reinstall on the SSD and not lose any data? I don't think I have any extra drives. Thanks!
  20. I'm probably not the right person to answer the question exactly but I am sure everyone needs to know this.. Budget?
  21. Someone said the same thing.. I have 960GB filled on my 1TB.. I have no idea to go about doing that. Not without losing everything. I could get a 128/256GB SSD and put the OS on that, but I'd still have to loose everything on my main drive yes?
  22. PC keeps crashing. 1-10 times a day. Gaming, surfing the web, looking at photos, anything. I used to have an issue that it did it when I was gaming. Not so now. Actually seems to stay stable longer while gaming, but still crashes after a while. Any ideas to troubleshoot? I set it not to restart if it crashes, still restarts. And by the way, it just restarts. Like screen turns black, pc restarts. No lagging, no freezing, just restart. I need this for college in a month and I simply cannot afford another PC. Specs are, i5 4460, GTX 960 2GB STRIX, XFX TS 550W PSU, Gigabyte D3H-H97m. Thanks.
  23. I have a Seasonic 520W in my brother's PC. I'll test it when I get a chance.
  24. It's an XFX TS 550 for a GTX 960, so it would have to be faulty. Which it could be. System is definitely not overheating.
