  1. No unfortunately I don't have a spare monitor, but when I plugged it into my TV via HDMI the tv did not detect the laptop
  2. I have dell laptop which has been at me for quite a few years now. Last night, I put it on sleep and when I came to switch it back on this morning, the power button and indicator lights turned on, and the fan was spinning, but the display remained completely blank. I tried turning on with each stick of ram individually but it still didn't turn on. Also l, where usually pressing the power button would put the computer on sleep mode, it is now completely shutting down the computer when pressed. Also, it might be useful to know that I had replaced the HDD in the laptop with an ssd, and it has been running fine with the replacement for quite a few months now. Any help would be appreciated
  3. I have Microsoft office 2013 installed on windows 10. When a try to delete any email, the following message appears: "You don't have the appropriate permission to perform this action" I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling office but the problem persists. Would be grateful for any help or advice.
  4. Turns out the ssd i was planning to get is the v300. Is it really worth spending more, as it was the cheapest one i found. It doesnt have to be the fastest drive in the world, I just want something that avoids the painfully slow read and write speed of hard disks so my relative can have a smooth experience
  5. I'm planning to build a pc for an older relative. It won't be used for any intensive tasks, and his storage needs are very low. Here is the parts list: Case: Generic micro atx case psu: Corsair CX 500 Motherboard: ASRock B85M PRO3 ram: 8gb Kingston RAM cpu: Intel i3-4160 3.6GHz (There was also a 3.3ghz model but found this for the same price) Storage: Kingston 120gb ssd Also, I live in Malta where there isn't a huge variety of parts, and I am trying to get everything locally, so some choices were influenced by this. Any tips or suggestions would be great
  6. Was thinking of picking corsair's rm850i, since it is modular and seems to be very reliable with extremely small ripples (I don't understand much about this) and also has corsair link as an added bonus. So if I understood correctly, cards will be becoming more efficient, so I won't be need a larger capacity any time soon right?
  7. I know most of you hate the word future-proofing, but I was wondering how much buffer i should leave for future expansion. My build will begin with a 4790k and a 970, but am obviously planning to upgrade in the future. My build will probably always be a mid-range systmem , and i don't intend on going over 2-way sli. Right-now, 850w is enough for even the most high end nvidia cards in sli. My question is, do you think that new cards coming out will consume less power or will the be more power hungry than cards now, meaning ill probaby have to buy a new psu anyway and shouldnt bother getting 850w.
  8. Should I still avoid the cm elite, or are they fine for something like this?
  9. An i3 and no graphics card, as I said very basic. Power consumption is extremely low, probably less than 200w
  10. From amazon UK a cx500 is £42 which is €58 without delivery so it's not a bad price, at least in Europe. Plus, I feel more comfortable getting everything locally for something like this
  11. I can pick up a cx500 for about less than 60euros should i go for that?
  12. Building an extremely basic build for an older relative and I am looking for the cheapest power supply that is reliable and wont light on fire, as cheap psu's normally do. http://www.atoz.com.mt/products/psu-atx-high-end/5998-psu-atx-high-end-cooler-master-elite-atx-v2.3-500w-12v1=20a-+-12v2=20a I found this at a local store and was wondering if it was good enough for what i want to do, or if there was a better alternative for about $50.
  13. I am building a new pc and want a decent budget sound system for it. I don't want to spend more than $35. I was thinking about the logitech z200 or z213. Which one would you recommend. The z213 has a subwoofer but the z200 seems to have better reviews. I am open to other suggeations too.
  14. After upgrading to windows 10, i noticed that my pc speakers stopped working. Although bothered by this, my pc speakers aren't that good anyway so i tried plugging in my headphones, which to my surprise actually work. After that, i noticed the my volume controller on the tray didn't work, as my headphones would still play sound at the same volume whether it was full or mute. I have updated all my drivers and tinkered with the settings but have yet to solve this issue. Would love some help c:
  15. I was considering adding another 970 in the future. Why is a 390 better for this?
