  1. Ok then, that's good to know. I might just bite the bullet now so to speak and get the 4GB cards. I guess they aren't too much more expensive, it'd just be nice to find a place to save money somewhere in the build. I'm not getting them for a while anyways, so I'll see how the sales are.

  3. Alright then, thanks for the insight. I might just get the 4GB 380 or 960 now as they aren't too much more expensive.
  4. Hello everyone, I'm currently picking parts to make a PC, and I'm trying to find ways to save money. I'm planning on buying one GPU now and then another later and running Crossfire or SLI (GTX 960 and R9 380 are on mind). Since the 2GB models are cheaper than the 4GB ones, would it be acceptable to have 2GB of Vram on 2 cards like that? Would they get the full performamce potential possible? I hope this isn't too confusing, thanks to any hellers.

  6. Thanks, this helped. Though after watching some videos and doing some more research, I've decided just to go with a 650W PSU. Specifically the Cooler Master V650.
  7. Well, having the whole build stay under $1000 CAD (w/ taxes) would be nice, and I don't want to go over $1100. That's the cap off point. Here's my PCpartpicker link for the whole build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/PPFfXL And I'm pretty certain with my choices for the other parts. There are just no places I want to compromise in. I know the the PSU is the last place I should be compromising, and that's why I'm asking about this power supply and if there's a way to cover colored cables. Another PSU I've been looking at is the Cooler Master G750M.
  8. Hi. I've been looking at some power supplies, and it seems all the ones with nice looking all black cables have a decent price premium compared to ones with multicolored ones. I was just wondering if there was an easy way to cover those up and make them look nicer? I'm planning an all black + white build, so I feel that colored cables would be huge eye sores. Would electrical tape work? If anyone knows a safe way to do something like this, it'd be good to hear. Unless, anyways, if someone can tell me what they think about this PSU? It has black cables and seems to be a good deal, but I've been told by a few people it's unreliable. However, the reviews on every site I've checked have been mostly positive and average around 4/5. So I'm having a bit of confusion with that. Thanks ppl. http://www.ncix.com/detail/thermaltake-smart-750w-atx-12v-cc-80745-1204.htm?affiliateid=7474144
  9. I'd like to keep it under $1000 CAD but can go a bit above if I can get a big performance increase for just a little more.
  10. I know the 120mm aio doesn't make much sense, but it's an incredible deal right now, pretty much half-off. I couldn't resist. Also, it'll be nice to have if a get a beefier CPU down the line.
  11. I'd like to stay under or just around the $1000 CAD mark, so I'm not sure if an i5 is fit for this, considering it's at least another $100+ extra with taxes. The 4460, that is. Unless you know of a good performing i5 cheaper than that? Also, what cases and PSUs would you recommend? I know the EVGA PSUs are great, just not sure if I can fit one into my budget.
  12. Actually, this is a Canada build. So prices should be in CAD which is worth a pretty decent amount less than the USD.
  13. Hello there. I see you stumbled onto this post. I'm just listing my PC build plans because that's what this string of the Forum is for. I'd like to do gaming and maybe some rendering editing on this build, let me know what you think. Oh, by the way, I've been trying to keep a Black + White theme, so if you have any recommendations for changes, try to keep that in mind. PCpartpicker link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/PPFfXL Or if you'd rather not click on that, a spec list here: CPU: AMD FX 6300 CPU Cooler: Zalman LQ-320 Motherboard: MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition GPU: Powercolor R9 380X PCS+ Myst. Edition Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Ram: HyperX Fury White 8GB PSU: ThermalTake Smart 750W (Cuz no ugly ketchup/mustard cables) Case: NZXT Phantom 240 So yeah, that's that. Let me know what you think. If you know of anything that you think could save me money, please let me know, but again try to keep in mind my target colour scheme. Also know that I'm a sucker for backplated graphics cards. I'm also considering going crossfire in the future, and that's why I went with a 750W PSU right now. Thanks m8s and m8ettes. Hope to have some responses soon.
