Hi there,
I want to build myself a PC for school. The most intensive task that this PC will be doing is watching Netflix (on a 24' monitor) or possibly streaming movies to a TV over WiFi. I want videos to play fluently, no lagging/stuttering or anything like that. I live by a microcenter in Columbus Ohio so I have their pricing. My budget is ~550 (a little bit more is not a problem).
I already have a windows 7 copy, DVD drive, and a 1TB WD blue HDD. I want this PC to have a ssd in it (microcenter has a 250gb Samsung ssd for 90$) and I want the PC to stay relatively quiet and cool.
This PC will not be used for gaming so as long as the CPU itself can handle playing videos at 60 fps or higher without stuttering or lag, no dedicated GPU will be needed. Also longevity would be nice....
My microcenter has the i5-4590 for $160 and the AMD a10 7870k for $130. Idk if i would feel comfortable with an i3? I want this PC to be fast. If I go with the AMD side, then i have to spend more money on fast ram and a mobo that can handle the faster speed ram?
side note: my budget of ~ 550$ is for the pc itself. After I figure out what PC I will be building I will choose a monitor so it would be nice to have a mobo with at least a DVI output..... (vga/hdmi/anything else is a plus too)
Thanks a lot!
