  1. Hey, wall of text incoming, but I'll try to keep it as brief, and organized as possible. Experience: I've casually made a couple of pretty shit gaming youtube videos in the past, but I've got piles of free time on my hands right now, and I really want to learn some actual useful skills, not only for making a youtube channel (lol), but also for the sake of usable skills. All of my old videos were made pretty much exclusively with iMovie (I know, not even real editing), and super basic recording tools. I've also done some basic HLAE work in CS:GO doing smooth pathing only. Think Clicky Crisp, but 50x shittier, and only using smooths. Clicky Crisp: https://www.youtube.com/user/Reconised Goals: I really want to learn to make higher production value content, that actually looks good, but I'm finding it a really difficult thing to get into for the first time, as someone with basically no transferable skills, or experience with any of these tools. I've just got into photoshop, after effects, and premier recently, and I'm finding it crazy hard to even understand what I'm looking at, and doing at a basic level. I'm not tech-retarded, and I'm willing to put in some serious time, and effort to learn this stuff, but I'm finding it difficult to find the resources I need to learn. Question: As people with experience using animation tools (after effects, or adobe aftereffects/photoshop/premier type of programs in general), do you have any hot tips, or good ways to learn? If anyone is willing to talk one-on-one about my specific experience, or anything that wasn't clear in this post, please let me know, or message me here, or on reddit at reddit.com/u/doctorEeevil. Thanks!
  2. Okay, so I've been playing the Overwatch beta at max settings, max AA, and 1080p at about 60-80fps with my R9 390/i5-4460 desktop. The temperature display built in to Overwatch says that I'm getting up to 94°C in game, and 80ish°C in the MENU. I'm pretty sure that my CPU would/should throttle before getting anywhere near this hot (although I do use the stock CPU cooler), so this clearly seems dangerously/unrealistically hot. I need to know a good program I can use to accurately stress test the temperature of my computer under load. It should be as lightweight as possible, and it's even better if it came with my AMD driver stuff, and I just didn't notice it. Second, I need to know what the proper way is to clean the dust out of my computer, as I haven't done so since I built it in November. Thanks!
  3. Okay, so I've never owned a mechanical keyboard, because they cost too much, but if I can find a DIY kit to make one, my parents will pay for it. I saw the Planck on massdrop, but I'm looking for a normal keyboard. Could anyone recommend a (preferably cheap) DIY kit for a cherry board, that is available in Canada? It should be relatively easy to build (soldering, then done), and can be any kind of keyboard (60%, poker, ten keyless, etc). Thanks!
  4. Does Rufus work on mac? Because other stuff is fucked up about his computer, and he can't use the Vista one to run Rufus, only a mac he has.
  5. Not sure if it's bootable yet. Any idea how to make it bootable, because I'd assume my bud didn't do that?
  6. Nope, so "USB" option. Again, this is me seeking tech support, so I can give tech support to my tech-stupid friend. He put the USB in before powering the computer on.
  7. Sorry, the ISO is on a USB thumbdrive. We tried to get it to upgrade from inside vista, but vista doesn't seem equipped to handle a windows 10 iso. It tries to open it with excel, and other wacko shit.
  8. Okay, my friend is trying to upgrade from Vista to 10, and has his .iso, and is in his F12 menu (BIOS?), and we think we should be changing the boot device order, or something similar. The options it gives are "FDD, zip, cd rom, HDD". (capitalization may be different, although probably irrelevant.) Which device does he boot from to upgrade?
  9. Just added a straw poll. http://strawpoll.me/7028108
  10. What are the advantages, and disadvantages of each voice chat platform? Teamspeak, mumble, ventrillo, raidcall, discord, Skype, etc. I currently use Skype, because I generally want to be in a call with my IRL friends regardless of what game I'm playing. Edit: forgot about Curse Voice, and Razer Comms Edit 2: http://strawpoll.me/7028108
  11. Ok, and this thing is legit? Thanks, by the way.
  12. That's what I'm asking. He tried just popping the SUB that has the .iso into the computer, but it doesn't know what to do with the file. Neither of us have done this before.
  13. OK, so my buddy is trying to install windows 10 on a vista computer. It meets all system requirements, but windows is asking him what he wants to use to open the .iso file, and we don't know what to do. Any help? We don't have access to any windows disks. Please help!
  14. Ok, thanks. This is probably a really dumb question, but does he just stick the USB in, or what? Like, specifically how do we do this? We're both Mac users up until really recently.
  15. Ok, I'm trying to help my friend get Windows 7 on his old gaming computer that has vista. Right now that computer is doing some screwed up black screen thing every time he logs in, but he has no files on that computer he cares about. He has access to a mac, and a windows 7 key. We need a way to get a windows 7 ISO, and instructions on how to wipe his old hard drive of the plague that is Vista, and slap Windows 7 on that sexy little drive. Any help? Update: I just googled and found a Windows 7 ISO, so I'm cool on that front. I need to know what to do with that ISO on a thumb drive, and how to get that on my bud's computer instead of that crappy broken Vista install.
