Looking to get into games like the Witcher series, Mordor, and Fallout once I get the system. I know I could save about $40 by getting this mother board instead (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z170apcmate) but would that cause any differences in performance? Also, suggestions on AF vs SP fans for the h440? There are covers over the fan spots, and I'm not sure which would be better to keep my system cool. Any other thoughts, comments, and suggestions are still welcomed! Once again, thank you to everyone that has helped get me this far! I'm really excited to build my first actual gaming system!
  2. Sorry for the late response. I would be looking around the 24-27 inch size ideally.
  3. Thank you for your detailed responses! I think I'm going to get a 1080p monitor when I get my system, and then upgrade to 1440p down the road in a future upgrade. With that being said... do you have suggestions for a good 1080p monitor within the price point?
  4. Even though that monitor is only 1080, you can still achieve 1440 with it? And you recommend staying away from 1440p until I can afford a monitor with gsync or freesync it sounds like?
  5. At this price point, would it be better for me to get a name brand 1080p monitor from ASUS or benQ? and then upgrade to a 1440p when I have more of a budget?
  6. Thanks for the fast response! I don't really know too much about monitors... does the 4ms make a noticeable difference? I am upgrading from a laptop... so I'm sure it will be an improvement either way. Also, Am I correct that an IPS would be better if I also plan to watch movies?
  7. Hello! I am looking at getting my first desktop sometime within the next week or two, the only part I need help picking is the monitor. I will primarily be using the system for gaming. I play LoL, Borderlalnds, Insurgency, gw2, and I plan to be playing the Witcher series, and Fallout (once AMD fixes the driver issue I've heard about) with my new system. Is it possible to find a 1440p monitor for around $300? If not, can anyone provide suggestions for 1080p monitors? (either single or dual?) Thanks in advance! If I'm missing information you need, let me know!
  8. I think I may just stick with the 390, to keep it more current.. but that is a great looking card! Does the r9 have any LEDs by chance?
  9. hey, I have a possible build that includes one Nitro r9 390. I love the looks of that vapor card, but would I be better off to stick with the r9 390? =/
  10. whats the bottom card? Im trying to back a black/blue build. This would be perfect!
  11. Hello! I just made a build, and seemed to get good feedback for it.. the only part missing is a monitor! (Here is link to the build if it matters: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/R934zy ) I've been told this build could handle 1440p. I'm looking for suggestions on budget(ish) 1440p monitors. It would be awesome if the total cost could be around $1300. (which leaves around $200 to play with for the monitor). If I need to go higher for a decent 1440p monitor. If I'm crazy and I can't do 1440p on this rig, then let me know some 1080p monitors to look for. I know this isn't the place for this... but if you have suggestions on the build itself, I'm open! Thank you in advance!
  12. hmmm, I have nothing opposed to looking into more coolers if you can post a few links for me? It would be sweet if I could do that! But not right away, no. What I may end up doing(due to money) is starting with a 1080p monitor, then getting a 1440p monitor for Christmas, and setting the 1080 next to it ifI need to looksomething up while in game, or watch a movie or something. But dual 1440p would be sweet if I could get it to work.
  13. is a bigger cooler necessary? I would love to get a cooler with blue LEDs and all that. But money... I still need to add the cost of a 1440p monitor to the second rig  If I need it though, I may be able to work something out. speaking of that, any good suggestions for a budget(ish) 1440p monitor?
  14. Hello! I posted here about a month ago, and with help, came up with the follow part list : PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($216.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($25.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($80.99 @ NCIX US) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($41.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($62.44 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($51.88 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8GB Nitro Video Card ($429.99 @ Amazon) Case: NZXT H440 (Blue/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ NZXT) Power Supply: SeaSonic 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($111.99 @ SuperBiiz) Monitor: Acer GN246HL 144Hz 24.0" Monitor ($177.58 @ Newegg) Total: $1319.83 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-11-12 18:13 EST-0500 But then the new Skylakes came out, and I was looking around last night and came up with this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($253.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.59 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI Z170 Krait Gaming ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($133.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($64.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ SuperBiiz) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8GB Nitro Video Card ($333.98 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT H440 (Blue/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ NZXT) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($84.98 @ Mac Mall) Total: $1140.49 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-11-12 18:12 EST-0500 Both of these builds would be from scratch. So my question is, is there a reason to not go with the newest Skylake? (if I should, any improvements to the build?) Goals: I would like to stay around the$1300 mark. Currently I play gw2 and LoL the most. I want to play Mordor, Fallout 4, The Witcher, and games like that with the build I end up with. Possibilities: It would be awesome if I could achieve great 1440p gaming, but I'm not sure if I can at this price. If I can, that's awesome. But I understand if the price would limit me to 1080p. Future: Obviously I would like this system to last a while. Hopefully getting a second monitor in the near future. So, I guess I want to know what would be better for me. If you guys can help, that would be greatly appreciated. other build suggestions are also welcomed!
  15. EDIT: It's not that I don't like overclocking, I've just never done it before. Until this build, I've only had laptops.. Is it possible to use a normal 390 and still get great performance at 1440p? I know you said something was wrong with the gigabyte 390's?
