  1. Ah, thank you for the explanation. I was worried it was unbalanced as my current 5 year old setup, the CPU is underpowered (maxes out at 100% all the time in games)...
  2. Updated first post from link to text. I already picked out some parts there. Please check that as well. 3. No worries, I am looking to source the parts locally. I am just using PC parts picker to ensure I do not buy incompatible parts or miss out on something important... Like the last time I built a PC, i missed out the CPU cooler + PSU...
  4. No, it's 2000 to 2500 USD, which is about 3000 SGD
  5. Budget (including currency): 2000 to 2500 USD Country: Singapore Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Starfield, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, GTA 6, etc. Other details: Gaming on 1440p ultra wide monitor 3440 x 1440 res. What do you guys think?
  6. Is their screen touch screen? I cant seem to find it in their options...
  7. Hello. I am going back to studies and I really need your help in choosing a laptop since I got no idea what to get... My school requirements are as following: On top of this, I have 2 requirements of my own: Your help is greatly appreciated. I do not have a specific brand in mind nor do i prefer a specific screen type.
  8. In the end, I went with: CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 5 RGB Tempered Glass Window ATX Tower Chassis Cryorig H7 CPU Cooler Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit Intel Core i5-8600K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) LGA 1151 (300 Series) 95W BX80684I58600K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630 ASUS PRIME Z370-A ATX Motherboard ASUS Dual GeForce GTX 1060 OC edition 6GB GDDR5 Graphics Card What I didn't notice (until i tried to install it) is that my choice of CPU cooler "Noctua D-Type Tower Cooler NH-D9DX-i4-3U" does not support LGA 1151 sockets... So ordered Cryorig H7 CPU cooler and delayed build by 1 week. Thanks everyone for your comments. It helped me a lot with choosing the components.
  9. How about the motherboard? Also, if I go with AMD, which motherboard and CPU should I choose?
  10. Linux Mint used to be great. Sad to say, not anymore. I mainly used Mint as it shipped with Wine built in to run windows programs. But it crashes. Go with Ubuntu instead.
  11. Any recommendations on the CPU?
  12. Hi, My current PC died and I need to replace it. However I am not sure which parts to go with. I am planning to go with: CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 5 RGB Tempered Glass Window ATX Tower Chassis Noctua D-Type Tower Cooler NH-D9DX-i4-3U RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit OR G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3200MHz (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory F4-3200C14D-16GTZSK Intel Core i5-8600K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) LGA 1151 (300 Series) 95W BX80684I58600K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630 ASUS PRIME Z370-A ATX Motherboard ASUS Dual GeForce GTX 1060 OC edition 6GB GDDR5 Graphics Card Some details about me: I game on 1080p only I do no use VR FPS of 60+ is good enough for me Fan sound is not a issue Please help me choose. I am torn between the 2 RAMs mostly. As for motherboard, I went with a random one. I do not understand the difference between the motherboards so please recommend. I am also not sure between i5 and i7. However in my experience, i5 runs a bit cooler and lasts longer. As for graphics card, GTX 1070 or 1080 is too expensive now and i think GTX 1060 with 6GB RAM should be ok for 1080p gaming. What do you think? For HDD, I am planning to keep my current Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD along with 4TB Seagate Mechanical HDD that i replaced just a few months ago.
  13. I am looking to upgrade my current PC. My current system is: Motherboard: Gigabyte H77M-D3H CPU: Intel i5 3750 RAM: Corsair PC3-10700H 8GB (2x4GB) + G.Skill Ripjaws PC3-12800 8GB (2x4GB) GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290X Storage: Samsung 840 Pro + Seagate 3TB Case: Coolermaster CM 431+ PSU: Coolermaster V750 My questions: 1. I want to change the Motherboard, CPU and RAM while keeping the rest of the system same. Is it possible? 2. If I want to upgrade, I understand choosing a i7 is better then i5. Even if I don't intent to do any overclocking, should I still need to go for a non "k" i7 instead of non "k" i5? 3. Should I go for 7th or 8th generation CPU? 4. Any recommendations/tips on choosing motherboards? My options are in page 1 of "Best Bargain Computers.pdf" and page 4 of "Cybermind Computer House - 17 Oct 2017.pdf" (attached to this post). 5. Any recommendations on choosing RAM? Does the metal heat sink on the RAM really do anything much? 6. Is there any compatibility/cabling/outlet issues between the new motherboard and older power supplies (like my one)? PS. No, I don't care about fan noise or RGBs. 14. I still wonder who's idea it was to cool a PC with water. That's the last thing you want in your tower!
