  1. We both used AIDA64 and IBT and still the temperature margin between me and him is around 10 degrees and he's on much less voltage so this all doesn't make sense.
  2. Look at the stock clocks, and no, it's not ok. Look at his voltages. when I was at 4.6GHz I was still in the 40s and I'm on much higher voltage.
  3. It's not just the overclocked temps, look at the temperatures at stock clocks.
  4. So my friend has an FX 8350 that's running unusually hot on his Noctua NH-D15. at stock clocks on his stock voltage of 1.29v it's running at 42 degrees under load, in comparison, my temps at stock clocks at a stock voltage of 1.4125v are around 32-33 degrees. I have a Cryorig R1 Ultimate which performs around the same and my ambient temperature is actually higher than his. Overclocked at 4.8GHz at 1.38v his temps under load reach up to 60 degrees. For me, overclocked at 4.4GHz at 1.452v I only reach about 45-46 degrees. Why is this happening? and why are his voltages so low compared to mine? Edit: summary. Heatsink: Me: Cryorig R1 Ultimate Him: Noctua NH-D15 Stock voltages and temps: Me: ~33 degrees @ 1.4125v Him: ~42 degrees @ 1.29v
  5. Ok, I restarted and loaded optimized defaults. Stock voltage is 1.3750 and auto. looking at HWmonitor while running AIDA64 shows that the voltage is actually between 1.416 and 1.428. That is at stock clocks, with the CPU turbo-ing to 4.1GHz
  6. Well, I couldn't even get to 4.4 which is only +200MHz on stock turbo on stock voltage or even at above stock so I assume not a lot.
  7. Should I downclock it? At the moment I have a GTX 660 but I'm planning to get an R9 390 in a couple of months. I play fairly intensive games I'd say, mostly big AAA titles, usually FPS.
  8. It's a gigabyte 970a-D3P http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4642#ov
  9. My voltage in the Bios is 1.45 I have LLC on medium so it usually runs at 1.464v sometimes it goes down to 1.452.
  10. What about the 4+1 powerphase, is that an issue? Should I try to go to 4.7 or is it too risky on this motherboard? I can't afford to kill my components.
  11. So at the moment FX 8350 is running at 4.6GHz at around 1.464v stable. My question is, is this safe considering my motherboard is fairly low end? Should I try to go to 4.7? someone warned me about VRMs getting hot when overclocking that high, is there a way to check my VRM temps? does my motherboard have good VRM cooling?
  12. That's not quite the one, It was more of a sarcastic laugh, exactly "HA HA HA". Pretty sure it was in a short video like FAP or one of NCIX's videos.
