  1. As Autodesk states, autocad is mostly a single-threaded application, so I looked at single-threaded benchmark list and my cpu seemed to have a good performance for the price. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
  2. Hi there, I'm planning on building a new rig for my dad which is also my first rig. So some help and advice would really be appreciated . That's what I came up with: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/JQwMt6 Below is some general information. 1. Budget & Location It should cost around 600€ - 700€, located in germany. 2. Aim As you might have guessed it will mainly be used for some autocad work at home. Since my dad won't really be doing very fancy stuff, the budget is a bit tight. This rig won't actually be upgraded, only the HDD will be replaced by an SSD. Should last at least 2 years. My little brother might play some games (CS GO, LOL) but that's not rly important here (just to let you know ). 3. Monitor Just one monitor so far, but maybe a second one in the future. And not included in above budget! - around 21 inch - 1080p resolution 4. Peripherals Nothing here. 5. OS I will use Win 7 64 Bit Professional. Also not necessary to buy. 6. Why are you upgrading? Well, my dad wanted to use his old laptop from 2004... you get the point Parts: CPU: Excellent single-threaded benchmark. Might have chosen a cheaper one, I actually found a discussion about a CPU for autocad and that's what seemed to be the best choice. Motherboard: Seemed to be compatible and had good reviews. RAM: Good price and good reviews. Storage: Good price. SSD unfortunately just to expensive. Video Card: That's where I'm rly unsure. I could not find any relevant information on how AutoCAD 2015 or 2016 leverages the power of the GPU. PSU: Good price. Again, no idea whether this is good or actually to expensive. Case: Seems to fit. Optical drive: Just to have one It is my very first build and most of my decisions were made based on the budget I have and the reviews. I made of course some research, so hopefully I didn't make any serious mistakes. Thanks for any help and advice
