  1. Yeah, okay. I'll definitely have to keep future-proofing in mind, they'll most likely be using it for a while. And I agree, it wouldn't be a great look getting them a screen more pixelated that the Minecraft my cousin will be playing haha I'll have to maybe keep an eye out for some decent used gpus. There isn't as much of a market for them where I live (outside the major cities), but I'll check with some of my buddies in Melbourne or Sydney. It might take too much time to find one that works w/ the setup, then ship it to where I live. But could totally be an option, I'll have to discuss it with my Uncle. At least I have a few ideas to fall back on now! Thanks again tho, appreciate it!
  2. Appreciate it haha! And yeah, that makes sense Thanks again for the suggestion too - it's always good to have someone suggest something they've personally used - I'll have a look at it
  3. No need to be sorry, that's why I was posting it haha I didn't want to give my uncle a computer that doesn't work - might get a bit awkward lol Okay, so it's planned to be built ASAP, and my cousin will be playing it, and she's quite young. The most complex game is maybe Minecraft or something. Seems like a pretty decent build anyways, so thanks
  4. Awesome, thank you for the help! Yeah, it seems way quicker that what I had planned
  5. Hi there everyone! *I've pasted the requirements at the end* So I'm designing a computer for my uncle and was wondering how decent it is / how many bottlenecks it has. We have a budget of $700 - $1100 AUD, and he'll be using it as a family PC. I was trying to emphasise how "snappy" it could be, that can handle lots of programs and tabs being open simultaneously. However, the last time I built a PC was in 2015, so best believe I'm out of touch with modern components haha :) Here is what I came up with: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G RAM: Crucial 8GB (1x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz GPU: MSI GeForce GT 710 2GB MOBO: MSI A320M-A PRO MAX SDD: WD Blue 500GB SSD WDS500G2B0A PSU: Cooler Master MWE 230V V2 450W CASE: Aerocool CS-1103 Mid-Tower ATX Case - Black MONITOR: Philips E-Line 276E9QJAB 27" Budget (including currency): $700-$1100 AUD (Approx $490-$760 USD) Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light Workload - Emails, occasional game, but a powerful gpu isn't a priority Other details: Already have peripherals & connectivity sorted. Ideally a non-RBG case tho Thanks in advance for the help!
  6. Maybe. Except I don't have an adapter for my computer atm, so it's the only way for my PC to get an internet connection wirelessly . I'd just go straight from my router to my computer if it weren't the case haha. Would still be good to know how to do it, just in case something happens in the future which requires it
  7. Might well be. I'd blast it with some compressed air, check for any foreign material, then go for an RMA, if you can. If it's a hardware issue, you'd be hard-pressed to find a diy solution, and it wouldn't be worth the hassle. Or, there's some pretty sweet noise cancelling headphones around Don't open it up to check btw, you could get a pretty nasty shock.
  8. Hi! So, just wondering if any of you have had success in automatically tethering your phone to your computer, through a USB connection? I'm trying to alter my internet connection from the router (or using cellular data) to my phone, then to the computer as soon as I plug it in, and connect it up (i.e. the phone acts as an adapter). I have to do this fairly frequently, and going into settings on my phone to manually turn on usb tethering is getting a bit annoying tbh. I've done a bit of research into it, and for the most part, it seems like it's extremely difficult to do with the current android security features. Unless I root it, and then use a third party app, which I'm not too keen on doing. But maybe there could be another way to automate this process without rooting it? Let me know what you think! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  9. Hey, So it looks like it could be your ram. What I'd do is test the system without the recently inserted ram to see if anything changes. If it does, put the ram back in, and run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool, and it should report what's going on, if there's a fault. It it doesn't, then you might have a bigger problem (faulty cpu maybe??) Hope this helps!
  10. Hi, So my friend built his first computer the other day, but ran into a major issue. When he's on the computer, it randomly blanks out the screen (Black screen), and completely freezes up. Here are his components: Intel Core i7 8700K ASUS Prime H370M Plus Motherboard Corsair Vengeance Ryzen 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB EVGA 600B 600W Power Supply Seagate Barracuda 3TB Crucial MX500 500GB Noctua NH-D15 AOC FHD 24in Monitor NZXT H400i Logitech G512 We are trying really hard to resolve this, so any help with this, or why it occurs, would be greatly appreciated
  11. Yeah, sure Intel Core i7 8700K ASUS Prime H370M Plus Motherboard Corsair Vengeance Ryzen 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB EVGA 600B 600W Power Supply Seagate Barracuda 3TB Crucial MX500 500GB Noctua NH-D15 AOC FHD 24in Monitor NZXT H400i Logitech G512 Carbon
  12. Hey everyone! So my friend recently created a new computer, but ran into an issue. The computer randomly freezes, turns off the screen and hangs (Caps lock doesn't respond ). The only resolution now is to reboot the machine. Apparently all drivers have been updated, and every component is new. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
  13. Hey everyone! I've been trying to create a graph in Excel that contains individual purchases, and presents the sum of these purchases at the end of a day. For example: Column1 Column 2 7 June 2018 $5.50 7 June 2018 $25.00 8 June 2018 $10.00 9 June 2018 $52.00 I want to create a line graph that shows each day, but not each purchase. Creating a line graph, it shows the date on the x axis, and the purchase amount on the y axis. However, it shows the greatest purchase of each day, instead of the sum. Ideally, it'd have 7,8,9 June on the x axis, with each day having $30.50 (instead of $25.00!!), $10.00 and $52.00 on the y axis. Hope this all makes sense! Any help with this topic would be awesome! Thanks!
  14. Hey everyone, One of my friends recently locked himself out of his computer, by changing the display settings in the OS. We then tried to boot into windows Safe Mode, but was unable to, because we were unable to see the screen. We then attempted recovery via a win 10 installation disk, which failed due to the device being locked. We have used the following commands in cmd in order to restore the drive, with no such luck yet: chkdsk C: /f /x /r bootrec /fixboot bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBcd sfc /scannow diskpart list disk select disk X (Where X is boot drive) attributes disk attributes disk clear readonly bootsect /nt60 ALL (Restarting the computer after each one) I'm not sure if I'm being dramatic, or not, because I don't have too much experience... And none of these are unlocking the drive, and we can't even reinstall windows because it's locked Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
  15. Thanks again for the help and information - I really do appreciate it! Have a nice rest of the day everyone!!
