  1. Legit restarted for the 7th time and it worked, I got nothing
  2. never mind, as is the case with these things, as soon as you ask for help you figure it out :P, although I can't figure out how to delete this post now...
  3. backstory, ssd died in my laptop a couple months back, reinstalled windows and all was fine until today for what ever reason whenever you set up windows with an already set up account, it always names the use file as the first few letters of the email address, which I decided to fix today, set up a temp admin account, signed into is and changed the file names, however now I can't sign into the original account, just keep getting temp profiles, have rebooted a few times, tried the disable anti virus even though all that was there is the built in windows ones anyway, have tried changing it back but no luck there either any thoughts?
  4. everything and anything in this car is fused, even the voltage monitor as 2 fuses lol, for the battery stuff I have a bunch of 100 amp midi fuses so I will most likely grab another holder for this and add one of those, or I might just get a circuit breaker, see whats in stock when I go shopping
  5. IF I can find somewhere to actually put the thing, I'm looking at this: https://www.switchboss.com.au/collections/fuses-and-fuse-blocks/products/6-way-fuse-box-with-bus-bar 12 is probably over kill but its only $6 more than a 6 way and rather have a few empty than need to replace it later only planing on the one relay at the battery end like you said this cuts down on the wiring, plus I'll add a fuse somewhere on that run. as for the aux battery, that's already in as there is a fridge and camping lights wired in, and I am debating adding a second battery in the engine bay too since I will be adding a few high current parts, there are already a pair of 9 inch LED spotlights on the bullbar, I am thinking about adding a light bar to the roof for more light spread, kangaroos like to appear out of nowhere at night so more light to avoid that, plus I recently discovered the centre of Australia has wild camels that like to sleep on the road, so that a terrifying thought, also a winch so doubling my battery capacity for that would be great, the camping battery is only connected to the starter battery when the engine is running so the fridge doesn't drain them both, but all of these mods will only be used while the engine is running so as long as the relay does it's job I should be safe, maybe, fingers crossed...
  6. sorry, poor wording, when I said accessory I meant turns on and off when the key is turned, so I would take a wire from a fuse that only sees 12v when the key is turned to a relay, which will then allow power from the battery to power the bus bar, which will then power all of the devices, and then when the car is off the relay will disconnect the battery and nothing will drain my battery overnight.
  7. currently in the process of updating a 2001 90 series land cruiser prado, adding a few small electrical parts, and wondering if it's possible to add an accessory powered bus bar? say run a wire from an accessory fuse to a relay, then from the relay connect to a battery? just with looking at adding a few things, 2 dash cams plus replacing the rear mirror with a digital one since I can't see out the back with the camping set up there, couple gauges, extra usb ports/ cig lighter to the rear seats for charging, you get the idea, lot of wires and multiple fuse splitters which is where my idea came from? On the one hand this sounds like it should work fine, but also I've only tinkered a little with car electrical work so could be missing something? TIA
  8. No luck on this, start up repair failed, as does system recovery, there only option left is command prompt but that’s something I’ve never worked with and following this guide https://www.ubackup.com/windows-10/repair-windows-10-using-command-prompt.amp.html doesn’t seem to help as I keep getting errors, dism gives me error 50 online can’t be used, systemreset isn’t a recognised command and sfc gave another error I can’t remember and have since started a chkdsk /f /r c: which has 2 hours left on the eta so can’t rerun it to check that error, have also rebooted so can’t just scroll up, any other ideas ?
  9. Title pretty much says it all, got a blue screen, let it do it’s thing and on restart my laptop booted into its bios and shows no bootable devices, both my drives are still detected, any ideas? I currently have no access to any other PCs as I am backpacking 10,000 miles from home
  10. Hey all So over the next few weeks I will be spending 2 weeks in Africa working on a private animal collection, crocs, snakes plus the usual African holiday stuff with safaris and such, and then a few weeks later I am starting a lap of Australia, my R5 will be attached to my hand at all times and I’m thinking I should probably get a mic, I’m was looking at either the Rode micro or the Deity D4, however the D4 seems out of stock so thinking the Rode, I know it’s not the greatest but I’m pushing weight limits as it is so ya. I know while on an actual safari the odds of being close enough to not need a parabolic mic is slim, but then the guy I’m working for did post a video of everyone pretty close to some hippos and they’re loud AF so who knows there, but I’d like something for say the croc jaw pops, or the growl king cobras make when they’re angry. my question though for my use case, do I actually really need the dedicated mic or should I just get some wind covers and use the built in one? thoughts, ideas or suggestions welcomed, and thanks in advance
  11. right ok bare with me is this a bad idea... I already own this : https://smile.amazon.co.uk/JJC-Camera-Hot-Shoe-Adapter/dp/B08B87Z8N3/ref=sr_1_4?crid=301RMNQ09GSNG&keywords=cold+shoe+to+1%2F4&qid=1646499819&sprefix=cold+shoe%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-4 I could add this : https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077MD35FW/?coliid=I2B9P2EBGJN0GN&colid=2F70GLSMPL7FT&psc=1&ref_=gv_ov_lig_pi_dp mount it flat using the back hole and boom?
  12. Need ideas people Upgraded camera to an R5 and also upgraded my power bank to the Anker Power Bank PowerCore III Elite 25600 PD 60W as this will power the camera when I do long time lapses, looking at options to hold the power bank near the camera, I thought you would be able to just get a cold shoe style mount but it appears not, the closest thing I can find would be getting a smallrig cage and then buying their power bank holder, the reason I don't like this idea is purely I am going on a 12 month travelling trip at the start of April, an I know I am already over the weight of the carry on limit with my lenses, so adding more to this isn't ideal, I current plan is using a few of those velcro cable tie straps to tie it to my tripod leg, although that sounds like a broken usb port waiting to happen. any other ideas people?
  13. ya the 1300 is a APS-C on the EF-S mount, however bar the 18-55 that came with the camera my entire lens collection is EF and about half are from canon's L series and as I have mentioned above, I have pretty much all the bases I need covered from 17mm all the way out to 600mm, hence me still considering the 6D ii since my entire collection is native to it, or all only needs 1 adapter that can pretty much just live on the body since I won't have any RF lens to start with at least, I'll admit I haven't looked this up with regards to sony bodies but I also like the fact that every feature works with the RF-EF adapter, there's no focus issues or missing features like the eye tracking, plus from the research I have been doing the loss of the crop sensor giving me extra reach with the lenses is kinda gone since both the 5 and the 6 have no issues at all running a 1.4 teleconverter if push came to shove, although I don't have one and won't be rushing to buy one any time soon.
  14. ya this was my idea, nut I already own all the filters for my lens so was thinking of getting the control ring adapter instead, just need to decide on the body.
  15. I have used similar extensions, they will work fine in terms of your pc will turn on, however if the normal 24 pin doesn't fit, if its the connector that doesn't fit then the extensions won't be any better, what about the cable doesn't fit, as for the VGA power, is it just a case that the cables are too short when routed? and that is causing the GPU to be pulled?
  16. I'm looking at used if I can find one with a decent shutter count, was hoping for a black friday sale but nothing major happened on any of the models I was after, my phone can do 4K, so that is also an option, I have no intention of going into making money from this, I like photography being my escape from everything, just being able to stick my airpods in and walk around for a couple hours just seeing what I can find
  17. guess I have some thinking to do, leaning towards the R series for the video, plus the 20fps on stills will come in very handy, however especially with the R5 its a lot to spend for something I'd don't intend to make money from when I have other more important things happening next year
  18. I want to play more with video which is partly why I started leaning towards the R6 or the R5, from what I have seen the R6 has the same sensor as the 1DX iii, I have a few of the EF L too, which is why the 6D stayed an option, the native support would be nice, however like you said I think the DSLR days are done, can't see anything at the top end coming out again, not sure what they will do with the entry level stuff though, be interesting to see, I have heard rumours that canon have a cropped mirrorless coming next year. do you use the 6 or the 7 as the main?
  19. are you mainly a stills person or do you do video as well? is there anything that makes you want to move to the mirrorless options?
  20. with the exception of replacing the 17-40 f4L there isn't much glass I need, I'd like a tilt shift lens but that can wait, and nothing else springs to mind, I'm wanting to move to full frame, even though it will mean I'll loose that extra reach, as I want to do more landscape stuff, as well as astro work, one of the things I'm hoping to box off next year is a shot of the milky way over uluru, image attached is not mine and just the first one that came up on google.
  21. no exactly, it was not a close shot at all, however thats my point, the canon crop factor is 60% so if I'd had the R6 that day and cropped down that much it would effectively have been a 13mp shot, where as the R5 would have been 28, more likely to still be useable, at least that my understanding of how that would work in theory at least? ya the buffer limit on a 1300D is 6 RAW shots at 3 fps, however because I have the RAW and JPEG option enabled it drops it to 4-5 shots before the buffer is full, I am using a Sandisk extreme card, which is about as fast a card as this body supports from what I can find
  22. yaa my eagle pics were not even close to that using a 600 on a crop sensor so effectively a 960mm ,admittedly the camera did miss the focus too which is partly why the crop isn't great, where as the R6/R5 have bird finding auto focus so might have nailed it better, we'll never know for sure, it is the R's I'm leaning towards, theyre also smaller for my travel plans so thats always a bonus
  23. I don't plan on cropping, but I shoot a lot of wildlife so sometimes you get what you get and if its not as close as you'd like then tough, over the summer I spent a week in scotland and get very lucky in finding a golden eagle, threw on the sigma 150-600 and took the shots I could get, however it wasn't close so I'd like to crop those down, however its just not an option on those images, as soon as you start to crop it gets very smudged out, so on the R6 that would be even further away and I wouldn't have much headroom to fix it ?
  24. Hey all Hope your all having a great holiday period! Just after some opinions. I have a canon 1300D had it for years and starting to run into some issues with it, can only take 4 RAW photo's before its full and stops taking shots, video isn't really much of an option with it, I have been toying around with upgrading for a long time, and with plans for next year finally falling into place decided to take the plunge and do it, I have been looking at the 6D mark ii, however also thinking maybe mirrorless (either the R6 or the R5) hence the opinions here. I can afford the R5 but it will be a very large chunk of my funds for next year, however if its worth it in the long run then its an option, obviously the R6 is very similar in terms of things it can do, all be it on a smaller scale, no 8K, no 4K slow mo, my main issue however is if you look just straight megapixel wise, its not really an upgrade to the 1300D (18 to 21) so I'm worried that loosing the crop factor of the 1300D will affect the wildlife shots I take, the R6 is a lot newer and a nicer so its not a direct comparison but its still something to bare in mind. Where as the 6D is still personally an option, I'd just loose a few of the video options, slow mo as a main one, I'd also not have to buy a lens adapter as my entire lens collection is EF. opinions welcome, wanting to stick with canon as its what I know, not overly interested in the 5D as for me at least it doesn't offer much over the 6D for the price jump. thanks all
  25. Fixed it, don’t know how or what changed but it suddenly showed up in disk management, changed to Gpt disk and bingo, 3.6tb partition ready to go, all be it an empty one that I have to transfer data to again
