  1. @thekeemo actually, nevermind. the site you've listed cost's $25 for the code. I appreciate the effort, but I've asked for a free service.
  2. @thekeemo is this site reputable? or was that from a google search. If it is reputable, I thank you!
  3. Hey guys, does anyone know where I might find the codes to unlock a samsung galaxy s5 locked in ontario? I see a bunch of different places where you have to pay. Well, I am competent with phones and don't really want to pay for a code. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that may have some codes? Thanks, -Splizza
  4. I was thinking more of an extension, not an external site. and doesn't that just check from amazon and newegg or something? (I'm assuming it's adjustable)
  5. Hey guys, do you guys know of a chrome extension that'll check multiple different site on the internet at once and show you the cheapest option for your given criteria? Thanks in advance
  6. Hey guys! I live in Toronto and am looking to start building a NAS. I'm looking for a reputable source for either used goods or a nice place to buy new stuff. Do you Torontonians know of any place similar to free geek Vancouver(I've been to the one in Toronto, and it simply doesn't stack up) or just a computer repair shop somewhere that has a wide selection? If you guys have any tips for finding hardware (anything from a motherboard all the way to a case) in Toronto, please let me know! and before you suggest it, I've looked through kijiji and craigslist (although it's entirely possible I've been doing it wrong) Thanks guys!
  7. Yeah, I've browsed around kijiji and craigslist in Toronto (as that's where I live) and there aren't too many options as far as I can see. Seeing as I've just moved here not too long ago I haven't found the sweet spot yet for hardware. (If there's anyone from Toronto browsing here, feel free to chime in!)
  8. Hey guys, so I'm the broke college kid that's been posting around the forums lately. I am in the process of trying to piece together a computer to make a NAS server. I'm looking to build from the ground up, because I've come to realize going with any prebuilt is going to severely limit the amount of drives I can have connected to the computer at any given point (that goes for upgrade paths too). So, is there a consumer motherboard that you guys'd recommend that has anywhere from 2-6 sata ports on it? I'm looking to have a three drive array in raid 1. If the sata ports aren't a huge deal could you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  9. yeah, sorry I didn't mention this in my post. But I'm not looking for the bleeding edge of products lol! I'm just a college kid who wants to get started, so I don't mind buying used. in fact, that's probably going to be my main source for hardware. and yes, I do know the risks of buying used.
  10. Thanks for all of the help guys! I'm gonna start seeing what I come up with. If you guys have any other bits you'd like to chip in, feel free!
  11. Honestly not very likely, but then again the saying "Never say never comes to mind". But I am entertaining the idea of hosting my personal webserver on the site as I'm a software engineering student and would like to host my portfolio somewhere. So that could very well be something to look towards. I've never actually gotten the chance to build my own system before, although I have tinkered. The highest-end system I've ever owned (my current one) is an ASUS ROG G551 running a 960m. So, this'll be my first foray into the hardware world.
  12. Hmm. I wasn't thinking anything more than three drives as I'm planning on running in raid 1 for data redundancy and protection.
  13. 1. Budget & Location I'm in Toronto, Ontario so I'll be looking for CAD Currency. I'm not looking to spend $1000 on the server as it isn't mission critical that I have 100% reliability. Just used as a repository for my code backups as well as music and other miscellaneous files. Although, that being said I don't mind spending a little if it'll be worth it. 2. Aim My aim is to build a NAS server for my house. I am wondering if it's worth sourcing 'outdated' server hardware from Ebay, or a local freegeek, etc. Or if it would be worth just going the consumer route and buying a prebuilt and adding the necessary components. Basically what I'm asking is, as a general guideline what should I keep an eye out for, and if it is in fact worth pursuing the server grade hardware what should I be looking for, and what kind of hardware should I be looking to put together. I know first, and foremost I'm going to need reliable hard drives. Other than that I'm not entirely sure. This may be the wrong area to post, but I figure it's a start. Thanks in advance for any help you guys are able to give me! -Splizza
