  1. electronics - not too much but it could be useful. I am doing software engineering but I can see how the electrical component can be important for the assembly. So I don't mind learning about it, but just not my main focus. languages - im comfortable with python for now. Could learn more in the future but dont have a grasp of anything else yet. but ik ill have to learn more later on goals - find a kit that will encourage me to learn about coding on my spare time. don't really find it motivating to just sit and begin writing useless code without any end result (i.e. programming light patterns on an LED) new language - maybe. depends on the difficulty. but if i can find a kit that will help me exercise the language in a fun manner than sure i can budget - max maybe around 200 bucks. I have money but its not ideal to spend a crap ton of it towards kits. so around 200 max would be fine for me.
  2. I'm new to coding. Only know a bit of python from my high school classes. However, I want to explore my abilities of being able to code by having some sort of kit that will motivate me to learn how to code. Usually, I've been learning how to code by looking up videos and stuff. But the problem is that when I am learning, videos usually baby me too much to the point where I just feel like I am in school trying to learn a concept. I just want to learn coding by actually applying coding to something like: programming robots, making fancy arduino projects, or even messing around with a mindstorm kit. Anyone have any suggestions of where I should start? I want to program some sort of robot. Particularly a robot that can move or have a crane and pick things up or do other fancy things. The problem is that I have no clue what kits are good or what I should buy. If anyone has anything good that they can recommend me, it would be great. Thanks.
  3. any engineering. and the requirements do not matter as long as he/she has a bachelors in engineering and is currently employed in some sort of job that is somewhat related to their engineering major. very flexible assignment.
  4. What about this? http://www.bls.gov/ooh/computer-and-information-technology/software-developers.htm this link shows that the job outlook is gonna skyrocket from now till 2024 for software engineers. Also, i dont see too much to worry about this since most people who become software engineers end up working as a computer engineer, networks engineer, or something that's closely related to their major, but not exactly. The computer realm seems to have a lot of flexibility when it comes to this sort of stuff since it all relates to each other (comp science, IT, etc). I mean, I could be completely wrong for all I know but this is what I understand from this.
  5. Okay, bare with me please. I have to write a short paragraph blog for college. Its supposed to be an interview with an engineer. I literally know no engineers at all and my professor refuses to give us any sources to use. As a result, if someone who is an engineer of any sort please just answer this: ( Of course, you can leave out anything you are not comfortable answering. But the more info, the better the grade.) What's your name? Where do you work? Where did u graduate from? explain in detail what your position is at your job and what it involves doing. what are your daily tasks at your job? What have you learned being at your job? do you like your profession? did you have any other professions in mind when thinking about a career? basically its a simple interview asking about the day in the life of an engineer. Thanks so much!

  7. what does the usb header do? i also didnt have that plugged in for some reason. oops.
  8. yeah. might just switch to fan dude. The guy in this video says that if you plug the wire straight to the mobo, it doesnt give consistent voltage. Go to 7:45 in this video.
  9. oh im stupid. i dont think the other wire did anything. ignore that.
  10. im watching installation videos right now to see if it was put in correctly. and yes, there was 1 wire connected to my mobo, which is what ran it. im just curious as to what the other wire was for. the exact cooler i have is the h100i v2
  11. wait. i just noticed something. theres 2 wires coming out of the cpu block. and i only had 1 connected to the power supply while the other one was just hanging. could the other wire be for something else? not really sure where it plugs into.
  12. ok, but just to be safe and for the sake of time, ill just switch to a fan cpu cooler instead.
  13. also i turned my pc back on and launched csgo and temperatures are still around the 50s
  14. is there any way that it could be vibrating and still not be working? cause i checked right now and the tubes vibrate, the fans move. however, not sure if theres any way that it could still be considered broken. I'll check the thermal paste after someone replies to this.
  15. so the rice grain method is actually a lie???? lolol. how often do you have to reapply it? I thought that you just apply it once when you construct your pc and just let it sit there until you upgrade again
  16. it's not overclocked at all. its 3.5 ghz. and its not just something that slowly happened over time. ive literally monitored my pc while playing csgo on native graphics and everything is usually low and right now it just went south fast.
  17. should I change back to fan cooling since I can actually see the fans running on top of the cpu? I'm only hesitant since my liquid cooler literally costed me 100 bucks.
  18. not sure about the tubes, but the fans definitely run as they are supposed to. Could thermal paste be a factor as well?
  19. just posted it. goes from high 30s to low 40s. not terrible, but definitely not normal. I've never lagged in counter strike in my life. I was playing for a while, but I expect a lot more from an i5 4690k. Especially since CSGO can literally run on a poop laptop.
