  1. I have a 600W EVGA PSU in my computer, but I have a corsair 750W PSU in my closet just sitting around. I wanted to know if I should replace my current one with the one in my closet? They are both just bronze PSU's and I wasn't sure if I should swap my current 600W psu for my 750W psu. I was only thinking about this bc either way I have to rip my computer apart today to put in a h100i liquid cooler, so I was wondering if i should just swap the power supplies as well? In terms of future upgrades, I only see myself getting more ram or a better processor. Here are my current specs: Case: NZXT S340 Power Supply: Corsair CX750 OS: Windows 10 Motherboard: Asus Z97-A CPU: Intel i5-4690k Memory: Corsair Vengeance (16 gigs) Hard Drive: 1TB HDD & Intel 240 Gig SSD Video Card: GeForce GTX 1070 Headphones: Corsair Void RGB Monitor: BenQ XL2411Z 144HZ Monitor Mouse: Zowie EC2-A Mousepad: Steelseries QCK-Heavy Keyboard: Corsair K65 RGB Keyboard
  2. so I currently use a hyper 212 evo for my cpu cooler. Wanted to know if the h100i would help my cpu temps go down while i am playing csgo? I have a h100i laying around in my closet. Got it like 8-12 months ago and I wasn't sure if there's a way for the liquid inside the h100i to evaporate or something??? I don't want to place it in my pc if the liquid inside of it is gone. There's really no way for me to tell. I shake it and move it around but I can't really tell if something is inside the tubes. But yeah, to recap I just wanna know if the liquid inside could evaporate after a year and if the h100i is better than the hyper 212 evo when it comes to cooling my cpu???
  3. So I have my gaming pc for the sole purpose of playing Counter Strike. Recently, I've had a huge problem with frames going from consistent 300fps to 30-50 fps. Usually it goes to 30-50 fps when something cpu intensive occurs in the game (i.e. multiple character models appearing, a lot of fire Molotovs or smokes blooming). I've tried EVERYTHING in order to make this "fps suttering" stop occurring. I've changed launch options, disabled everything I have running in the background, updated drivers, changed gaming config, you name it. However, the only thing I did notice is that I enabled "Asus Optimal Mode" in the bios a few months ago. I kept it on since it boosted my overall fps, however, lately I have just been experiencing these sudden fps drops while playing. Could it be this? I'm not too sure what the optimal mode does to be honest. It almost seems like it overclocks my pc. Is this the source of my problem? or could it be something else? someone please help. Here are my specs: Computer Specifications Power Supply: Corsair 500W PSU OS: Windows 10 Motherboard: Asus Z97-A CPU: Intel i5-4690k Memory: Corsair Vengeance (16 gigs) Hard Drive: 1TB HDD & Intel 240 Gig SSD Video Card: GeForce GTX 1070 Headphones: Corsair Void RGB Monitor: BenQ XL2411Z 144HZ Monitor Mouse: Zowie EC2-A Mousepad: Steelseries QCK-Heavy Keyboard: Corsair K65 RGB Keyboard
  4. also testing on ffa servers with around 9-10 people in it. havent hit 300 fps at all. not even in competitive.
  5. i tried fps_max 300, fps_max 0, fps_max 999, and it doesn't make a difference at all. And yeah I dont hit 300 fps AT ALL. So I have no idea what's going on
  6. From what i've noticed, since the new sound update in CS:GO. However, when I mentioned this in another post, someone told me this: "Another thing wth the recent update was the graphics upgrade, that was the biggest hit to fps, personally ive noticed no difference on older maps with the new sounds, only the new maps with new graphics which dropped the fps quite a lot."
  7. This has been a huge problem for me recently. I am a competitive player and ever since all the updates, I've had my frames go down like 50 fps or more. I easily used to hit 250-300 fps solid. Now I am having micro stutters during intense situations and losing a crap ton of frames. I feel like there might me something wrong. Here are my PC specs: GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 CPU : Intel Core i5 4690k Quad-Core Processor (3.5 Ghz) Mobo : Asus Z97-A Motherboard Ram : Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) HDD : 1TB Western Digital Blue 7200 RPM SSD: 240 Gig Intel SSD Case : NZXT S340 Black OS : Windows 10 Monitor : BenQ XL2411Z Black 24" 144HZ Monitor Keyboard : Corsair K65 RGB Mechanical Keyboard Mouse : Zowie EC2-A I was so desperate that I already whipped out my entire PC. I started from fresh, got my config back, and still have nearly the same frames. I also tried using -high in launch options, tried cl_forcepreload 1 in console, verified game cache, etc. Also, here is information about my video settings in game:
  8. So recently csgo had a huge sound update that's been causing people's FPS to drop tremendously. Whether if valve fixes this or not, I want a new CPU that can run the game well. Right now i have the i5 4690k at 3.5 ghz and im only getting around 90-150 fps in game with low graphics and 16:10 res. The game is literally extremely optimized now. However, I have still seen a few pro cs streamers who easily get an average of 300-400 fps in game. I would like to know what CPU is the best for csgo if i want to get this sort of frames after this update? Is it just worth overclocking my current one or is there a specific cpu that i may not be aware of?
  9. which servo motor should i buy then? does it matter if its an arduino brand servo motor? cause im using an elegoo uno r3 for this.
  10. What is the difference between a motor shield and a stepper motor driver board? I am building a robot car right now and im not sure if im missing a part or not. I am using an elegoo uno r3 for my microcontroller and in this tutorial video it says I need a "motor shield". However, my kit comes with a stepper motor. Is this the same thing? Here is the video and also here is what I've got: this is the stepper motor? Can it be used the same was as in this video? https://www.amazon.com/Henglifu-ULN2003-stepper-Driver-Arduino/dp/B01HCL54SC/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1478559025&sr=1-3&keywords=motor+driver+arduino
  11. the title says it. I've got literally EVERYTHING you need to build one of those fancy arduino robot cars. The only thing I'm missing are two servos and a chassis where I can place the arduino on. I don't really feel like waiting for something to ship from a website. Instead, I want to see if I can just drive to like a toys r us and see if they have any toy cars I can mod. Does anyone know if toy cars have servos that make the wheels work? If so, how could I connect it to an arduino to make it be powered off of it? Sorry If this ends up being a stupid rhetorical question. New to robotics.
  12. That helped clarify some stuff. Looks like IDE's are less annoying. Do you recommend any to download? I dont really want to use online ones and Visual Studio or whatever is acting really buggy and making my download a lot of stuff.
  13. No one ever really clarifies. Your most recent reply on the other post just clarified something
  14. DISCLAIMER: I'm new to programming. I keep posting stuff on here but people are being either very vague with their answers or they just give me the "techy-talk". Nearly every response I get is too complicated for me to understand. So if you want to reply to this, please at least try to put it in stupid terms for me since I'm very new to programming. If it takes a lot of text to describe, that's fine too. I am new to C++ and have no clue how to run my code or where to write my code. What's the standard? I was just thinking of using NotePad++ to type my code and then just run the code in some kind of compiler. Which compiler should I use for C++? Most people I know were talking to me about something called "IDE's" which apparently consist of things like Visual Studios. I don't know the difference at all between compilers and IDEs or which one I should use. Basically, I want to start coding. But have no idea where to write code for c++ or what things I should have downloaded for it. I just want a fast solution. And no I don't want to use those online c++ compiler things. I want something to download and use permanently. So please, be as descriptive as possible and inform me about how this all works (in stupid terms)
  15. like i wanna use notepad ++ to write my code and then run it on something else. Is that bad? do people normally do it a different way?
  16. what about a compiler? which one do u recommend for that? i dont really know the difference between an IDE and a compiler. I just want to practice code and run it and see what it does on another tab. What would i need for that?
  17. I'm a coding noob and want to get started with C++. I will be learning how to code through Lynda.com's tutorial/videos. Their tutorials are on something called "xcode" and they are showing everything on a Mac. Personally, I use windows 10 as my OS and want to know what I should download to start writing code for c++? Like the compiler thing that runs the code and the program where I write it?
  18. Looks pretty promising. I'll take a look at these videos tomorrow. Never really used Lynda but my college gives us free subscriptions for it and Linus also advertises it. Looks pretty sweet and stupid proof so far.
  19. I've done a little of python. But not enough to say that I am proficient with it. I have barley done any programming in my life. I am currently a freshman in college and I eventually might switch to software engineering. But before I do, I would like to dig deep into coding and know what it's like before I make any decisions. What is the best way to learn C++? just got an Arduino Uno kit and as far as I see, most of the coding on there is a slightly modified version of C++ Anyone have any recommendations as to what video, article, book, or whatever could be best use to me if I am an ABSOLUTE beginner and want to learn C++ as my first language? Also, please be respectful as to what language I am choosing. I know a lot of people who would reply to this saying "DONT DO C++, DO PYTHON FIRST". I have my reasons and just want to start with C++. It's a very applicable language as far as what I see and plus I just bought this Arduino kit and I am not going to spend my time learning python since Arduino doesn't really support it.
  20. My laptop's cpu usage was high so i was going through my programs and seeing what stuff looks useless enough to get rid of. Of course, i made the mistake of deleting something important. i think it was called "etouchpad" or something along those lines. I have windows 10 and this happened to my laptop. After i uninstalled, it asked me to restart and i did. The problem now is that it looks like i deleted some touch pad program. Now, i can't scroll down the page with two fingers and i cant right click unless i try do it like 1000 times. please help me. I just need to know what driver to install to fix this. it should be the same touchpad driver that comes with all windows 10 laptops. If im doomed, at least tell me how i can wipe my hard drive
