  1. I have a home where there are 1-2 pc's for each individual. I want to be able to create a storage server system. I'm not to fimilar at all with how to do so, but im fairly computer capable and if given a basic understanding I can give figure it out. So if anyone can point me in the right direct it would be helpful. I want all of the pc's to be able to back up files there. What's my cheapest options? Like i'd probably just stick to hdd not ssd.
  2. I've done some digging, the samsung is only about $40 more than a 1 tb of crucial. I've had luck with all of my samsung drives, knock on wood. So I figure it only right to continue with their line. Thanks for the tip though
  3. thanks for the tip, i'll look into to this more
  4. I mean I only play games and use PS, some image files can be quite large. I can afford the upgrade, i just wanna know if I will be able to tell even the slightest differences.
  5. I figured the 860 evo was the right call figured it was safe to ask. I have an NVMe slot on my motherboard, not sure how all that works to be honest.
  6. I currently run Windows 10 with an i7 4770 on z97a Gaming 7 board with a 1080ti. I have a 258Gb 850 Pro with my os on it. A 128Gb 850 Evo for more steam game storage. Im running out of room with the more games i put on and especially that games are often over 50Gb now I figure i need to get atleast a 500Gb ssd that will last, Is it worth getting a $300 950 Pro, $225 500Gb Evo, or should i just buy another cheap evo? I'd probably transfer my os to the pro if it's gonna make it run better. Opinions welcome.
  7. I didn't make this thread to discuss what I need it for, i simply asked for motherboard recommendations. I'm not here to debate. I'm tired of this locked 4770.
  8. the problem with an older series cpu is the bottle necking of the cpu/motherboard for the intel ssd.
  9. Yeah, i messed that up quite a while back and never was bothered enough to edit it. maybe i should.
  10. I've been running the new mordor, black desert, witcher 3, assassin's creed origins in 4k on a this 60hz samsung i have, the higher resolutions were crazy expensive when i bought it. I also use it for my xbox one x, runs really smooth. Typically, my Black desert is minimized while i play other games and probably am in queue for league at the same time and i can sometimes see stutter when running all the applications. I also run Photoshop, and ableton music editor. I have a water blocked 1080ti, I run it in overclock mode through aurorus genie. I also bought a 900d series pcie ssd, and would like to be able to get full read/writes. The bios I have on my z97 is quite shit tbh, not too many options. I mean, I'd like to spend under 600$, 700$ for sure if its worth the extra.
  11. Whoops, 4770 non-k. Also forget to mention, my gpu water block that i had on my 970 had leaked inside my pc slowly and i think there is a bit of damage with the external audio connectors, so i've been wanting to replace this board for a while, but also might use the old cpu/mobo combo for another pc build.
  12. I have an 3rd gen i7 3770 non-k, a z97 gaming 7 and 32gb of ddr3. I'm noticing a bit of bottle necking with the old cpu when running multiple games. I think it's time to upgrade to a i5 or i7 8th gen I need a good and somewhat affordable maybe around $200-300 motherboard. I just don't know a good lga 1151 board thats either a 299 or a 370 Anyone really love a board that they can recommend? also probably gonna get 16gb of ddr4 any help is appreciated
  13. So I have migrated my windows to my 850 Pro. I've deleted everything on the optane 900P and reformated a new drive so there is used data. My read and write speeds are still 817 read and 809 write on the optane. I do believe that it my motherboard not supporting optane that is resulting in the lack of speed. i think i may just return this and get a 960 pro instead.
