  • Biography
I was raised on a small farm where computers were luxury, and internet was only a dream. I fell in love with science and technology from my first press of a button and grew to higher levels of nerd-dom through years of reading, gaming, and tech troubleshooting for friends and family. After a hiatus as a medic with the National Guard for 6 years and a deployment to Afghanistan, I returned to school to complete my Bach in Applied Computer Science and I am currently employed in IT at a local credit union.

  1. Bumping this thread again because I just got charged for both again and can still not find a way to cancel the FPC even under "Manage". There is no cancel button and clicking on the agreement offers nothing either.
  2. The same key? I am super glad you got it to go through!
  3. This is the support page on the Kinguin site. Click on Windows Activation and follow the steps. Make sure that if you attempt to make some kind of claim with them that you have the screen shots they asked for. I have not gone through this process before with Kinguin so I can't direct you past this. https://www.kinguin.net/helpdeskultimate/customer/newticket/
  4. This was where I first learned about the site and I have bought two working keys from there myself. Just as a reference for why I recommended it. Again, I am sorry if you end up losing money over it. (The video says $20, but it is just over a year old)
  5. There is a protection option check box that tacks on an extra 5 dollars, and if selected I believe it offers an avenue for a refund.I have not had that issue (so far) with that site, so I haven't personally tried to get refunded. I'm sorry if I directed you to a bad experience, but, as I said, I have yet to have that problem myself.
  6. They have a pretty strict guideline for OEM upgrades, but they almost never give you trouble. They only things that will be any problem at all to upgrade are the mobo and ssd/hdd that you use for storage. Even then, I have seen it work more often than not. A mobo replacement may mean that you have to call and talk to someone, a storage replacement (for me) has normally recognized the mobo and reactivated. Don't take just my word for it though! You are more than welcome (and I would encourage you) to do a little more digging if you feel unsure about using an OEM key. My experience, with the 2 or 3 systems I have had to deal with OEM keys on, may certainly be the exception rather than the rule.
  7. @jjohnthedon1 You can also get a pro key for a few dollars more. I linked an OEM key, though that shouldn't really matter for a while and it is much cheaper than the retail key.
  8. You can use your Win10 bootable (from the media creation tool) and buy a key here. https://www.kinguin.net/category/22175/windows-10-home-oem-key/ I have used this site before, just read everything and look at all the check boxes. Paul (Paul's Hardware) also uses this resource.
  9. No problem at all my friend! You got yourself sorted I think. I was here for moral support.
  10. Yeah, if it were the same system. He quoted a Ryzen build though. Leads me to think it is either new Windows on new drive, or "clean" windows on old drive. The latter is what I was rambling about.
  11. I am probably inventing my own scenario lol.
  12. Unless he says otherwise, I am thinking he may have used a windows install from a different SSD on a new rig (I am judging by his listed hardware). If that is the case, it sounds like he didn't boot to the original image first to run through the hardware changes. If he has overwritten that drive with a new windows install, then the OP is out of luck unless it is still possible to put the drive back in the old system (where the board would be recognized) and reinstall windows there before booting into it in the new system, and then running through hardware changes. OEMs may not work at all, but I have had some cases where they did in similar situations. Admittedly, this is alot of speculation on my part. lol
  13. Is this a clean install on old storage for a new system?
  14. I personally think this one would look pretty sweet in that build. Accents would definitely match your GPU. You could grab basically any 120mm fan if you don't want to spend as much though. I would pick a brand name that you know since I am sure some of them could get quite noisy. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181020&cm_re=Corsair_Air_Series_AF120-_-35-181-020-_-Product
