It will change the sound signature a bit. But it's not necessarily a bad thing. The pads I linked are much bigger and have more room for the ear and the sound to get in. I assume it will give me a bigger sound stage which is great. Also look at the reviews, the reviews are very good so I got no worries

you think the pads will fit good on the ath m40x?

oh sorry. i meant higher volume. the sound on my motherboard cant drive them well. the dac\amp solve this |(the one i got fiio E6) so im looking for an uprgade. should i go for it? or its not worth the money? and what about the ear pads?
