Wow, people still take Network+ and other certs? I thought that was a thing from before the last tech-bubble-bursting... guess I'm out of the loop when it comes to the hardware end of the industry.

IDK Bash, but jobs I've looked at prefer it.

Look under the table "Job Board Search Results" for relevant info.

I'd do Cisco stuff, but that's generally more specific even though it gives way to lots of other jobs and I imagine it's more difficult. It just seems like a natural progression to know Network+ then do the Cisco stuff.

Sure, if that's what you're interested in for a career right now, then I'd say go for it. It could be lucrative (though I hear Cisco has been bleeding employees lately).

That makes sense. Watching this Youtube video, I feel like this shouldn't be one larger cert, but a bunch of smaller ones over specifics like "Authentication Protocols", "media connectors", "Virtual networks", etc etc. They're just glossing over all of it with general definitions and a single example.

    Unrelated: http://www.techcareers.com I didn't know that was a thing. Or this: http://www.simplyhired.com/

    Woo, larger job pool. :D
