  1. I always thought the voltage would increase based on a % of its efficiency, but it seems when you hit 5ghz+ the voltage completely changes it's previous actions. I'm running 4.9 ghz at 1.375 which is weird to me because to hit 5 it needs a dramatic increase, compared to 4.7 going to 4.9. Just for those that are interested, DROPPING FROM 1.4 VOLTS TO 1.375 Results in 10 degrees lower in all stress tests, now maximum goes to 75 Degrees
  2. I thought the volts only mattered if the temps were high, isn't 65 degrees maximum good ?
  3. LOL i have the EVGA 240 one LMFAO, Yeah I meant 1.37 VOLTS and i am at 1.4 Volts, which compared to other people seem to be pretty bad oc. I always thought the voltage would increase based on a % of its efficiency, but it seems when you hit 5ghz+ the voltage completely changes it's previous actions
  4. Hello everyone, as the title states the lowest stable voltage I can get on my 9600k ( just bought today!) is 1.4 volts. While stress testing the temp goes to 79 Degrees Celsius maximum is that a safe temperature? While gaming it never goes above 63 degrees at 100%. I noticed online that some people are getting 5 ghz at 3.7 volts, are they just trolling or did I seriously get unlucky with the silicone lottery !?
  5. I bought this ram - https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX73300. I managed to overclock it to 3200mhz at 1.35 volts stable( test with prime 95, cinebench etc, for couple hours) ( So we will see if its truly stable ;). As to my question when i try to tighten the timings it seems only the Cas latency ( first timing) is the one i can change. When i try changing the other two, the middle and the last they change automatically to 18 again. However right now my timings are, 14,18,18,42. Two questions : Should all the timings be the same? Or is having 14 cas latency still a good overclock when everything else is at 18. : Why would I only be able to be stable with cas latency change? Isnt that quite the anomaly ?
  6. NoctuaNH-D15S CPU Cooler is only 160mm tall with a 120mm fan? Or 140mm fan. Should I just get this one instead ?
  7. I was goona get the 8700 but none of the best CPUs are in stock at memoryexpress. Only the 8600k and under. Intel's really struggling right now lmao
  8. Is the dark rock 4 > 212 Evo? Honestly I'd be happy with 4.7 GHz on 4 cores.
  9. Hey everyone I will be buying either an 8600k or an 8350k. I only play esports titles on high refresh monitor so I need high clockspeeds. I will be buying an rtx 2070 or 2080 so I don't want a liquid aio cooler, if it leaks it's not worth it to me. These gpus are Overkill but sometimes I will hook it up to my 4k tv and play eso online.(fps not that important here, I know I'll get more then 50+). My question: Will overclocking only 4 of 6 cores to 4.8ghz on the 8600k work with hyper 212 Evo? Would it significantly lower the thermals? The majority of people just oc all cores but I don't need all 6 running that fast so it would be in efficient. My case only has 164mm of clearance so my air coolers are limited. (H400i). Or should I save lots of money and just get the 8350k, I'm pretty sure mmorpgs don't use more than 4 cores anyway? Primarily gaming with voice chat program open, maybe some light video editing if I decide to get into YouTube. But I don't mind waiting a long time cause it obviously wouldn't be my source of income.
  10. Hello everyone, I am Canadian and do not want to order online. So I am stuck with memory express. There are two monitors I'm stuck between. 4k: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX69872 1440p: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX69764 I play a lot of games so I need the 100+ refresh rate. However I'm stumped because the ViewSonic I can have beautiful ips4k visuals then switch to 1080P and get the 120hz. So I guess my question is what looks better. 1440pTN vs a 1080ips panel. Also the tn panel has 1ms response time, and the other has 5ms. Not entirely sure if we can percieve the difference but throwing that out there. ALSO the 4k display is 27 inches and the 1440p is 24". So I know pixel density is important but don't know much about it. If the 4k monitor could do 120hz at 1440p then I'd probably get that one.
  11. Hello everyone, so i heard league of legends only uses two cores being 0 and 1. So as to my question, assuming you only have a DUAL CORE chip the operating system would be forced to use the same cores as league right? But if the chip had hyperthreading, would the OS just sit on threads 2-3 and the game on 0-1? Also if you have a quad core chip, would the os be running on the other cores or the same? Cause if the cores dont matter cause i dont multitask then i may aswell just get the 7350k once the price drops a fck ton cause the new lineup. 2 super fast cores is what i need. Sorry for the poor english LINUS is rubbing off on me ;). Looking forward to the responses. Stay frosty
  12. some people saying coffee lake coming out this october, is that true? I thought the first release was for laptops or some shit, not desktop platform.
  13. Hello everyone, I'd like to start getting more serious about LOL, i'm currently a diamond 2 mid laner playing on a shitty laptop with 30-80 fps(before minions spawn). I'm like 90% sure that LOL hugs clock speed and ips, only on the first two cores. I'd like someone to make a LOL destroyer pc build, as cheap as you can make it. I will be getting a 144hz monitor as well, so tons of fps is must! With all the ryzen fuss, i just cant bring myself to get a 7700k when it's half the cores but double the money for maybe a 25% fps increase. Also it's expensive, i dont want to buy an I5 either cause its only 4 cores and it'd be nice to watch youtube videos and play at same time. Would the 7350k oc'd to 5.0ghz be good? Have we finally found a use for this cpu, is it the LOL destroyer ? P.s, I love you linus, may all the booties rest on your lap <3
  14. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127860 is this 1 6 pin as well, because its the 4gb version and looks pretty sweet too haha. I bought it from staples its 500wats.
  15. thanks. can the 960 run league of legends on 4k ? im assuming so, cause my shtty 650 ti gets 200 fps on max settings.
