  1. also, another thing: when I end the load, it very quickly goes back down to normal (well, as normal as 60c can be) temps. this leads me to believe that it is an issue with the tim. however, i dont want to spend a whole bunch of money buying a x299 delidder cause they expensive and also Id rather not break a $400 cpu
  2. yeah, I know, I just tried it to see if maybe it would fix things but booted into bios and saw that nothing changed so I replaced it with a reasonable amount pretty sure. its pretty tight, but I guess theres no way of monitoring the pressure between the die and the block. Ill try tightening it some more. (board flex shouldnt be an issue, its lga 2066) ok, I am not sure if they will allow me to rma it, as its old, and i dont have the recipt (i might have the box). pretty sure the pump in the h100i v2 has a tendency to die sometimes. also, the water does warm up with the cpu, so that might be an indicator that the issue is not with the pump.
  3. hello I have an i7 7800x (bad choice, ik) that is overheating a lot. avg. idle is ~60-70C and mild loads easily reach tjmax. cooler is h100i v2, which is about 2 years old at this point. troubleshooting steps: I have set it to performance mode. I have reseated my cpu I have tried putting an absurd amount of thermal paste I have added two more fans to my rad I have run with my case open to exaggerate airflow I have enabled rgb to make my pc cooler switching fan headers from cpu_fan to cpu_pump just reduces pump speed enabled/disabled pwm removed graphics card removed all storage devices and booted to an arch live usb (does not change temps) currently I have it underclocked so that my house does not catch on fire. I changed it from 3.5ghz to 2.5 ghz all at 0.9 vcore but that only lowered it by like 10 degrees and it still throttles when I put it under a demanding load. do you have any tips for how to fix my temps?
