  1. I tried a 24" screen and there was no difference past msaa 8x, while on 27" with msaa 8x image is very pixelated and there is even that shimmering effect, something like pixels overlapping which is really annoying. Although names and npc names are impossible to read with camera set a bit further at msaa 8x or lower.
  2. I rly had no idea what that is. It's just that at 1080p at my screen size (27") image looks very pixelated and nameplates are hard to read without at least SSAA 4x and it's completely smooth at SSAA 4x + CMAA
  3. I've tried running with lower AA and in most cases it helps. I think I'm about to get a 24" display to run with only 8x msaa. In other cases, between 8x msaa and ssaa 4x + cmaa there was 2fps difference, which is something that makes me rly confused.
  4. I could benefit from a better cpu for 3d modelling and rendering which is something I do a lot, so I will get one for sure. Although, I think that my gpu can't handle it since it runs at 100%, but it would be weird for a 980ti not to be able to handle wow on ultra in all situations?
  5. Not sure about that since my friend with 4790k has around 30fps more in big fights and towns. + we're on biggest realm EU
  6. I will be getting one this summer. Still towns aren't my problem yet it's being around lightning effects and idk if u play WoW, but Garrison is taxing my gpu a lot for no reason.
  7. I'm mostly having last core taxed more than others in populated areas, while I can still keep around 80fps in these.
  8. The problem is WoW doesn't require anywhere near 8GB of vram, while Strix 980ti is faster than a Titan X, just has less ram, as far as I know
  9. I was having similar drops in Warlords of Draenor but only in certain situations and also in GTA V
  10. Hello there,I will begin with listing my pc specs:CPU: Core i5 4690k @4,5GHzGPU: Asus Strix 980ti (just running in OC mode)RAM: G.Skill Sniper 1866 8GBPSU: Corsair RM850SSD: Samsung EVO850 250GBEverything runs fairly cool, CPU is around 50-60 °C and GPU sometimes goes all the way up to 80 °C but never above.I am experiencing some real fps drops in areas with a lot of lightning effects in WoW: Legion - Alpha test, although my CPU doesn't go above 50-60% at these times. I was wondering what's the problem, my GPU runs at max all the time due to high AA that I have to use because I am playing on 27" 1080p display. My fps is dropping to low 70's which is a huge deal since it's very close to 60, while it was around 120 before.Settings: http://prntscr.com/amu6cq
  11. I also use an external usb drive for large data that I have to access more often
  12. If I was using it 2-3 times a day, I would just keep it spinning all the time, but there are times when I don't have to use it at all for couple of weeks or maybe even like 2 months, so I don't want it to make noise if it doesn't have to. I also never know when I'm going to need it, and if I will just have to transfer 1 file from it or 10GB of files, so I really do want to leave it off but have it accessible without opening the case, if that's possible?
  13. Hello folks, what I was trying to do was manually or automatically turn off the HDD in my system for the following reasons: 1. Silence 2. Extend the lifespan I have a HDD that I only use for mass storage - big documents and CAD models. Also I have to note that I use it very rarely, like once in a week or sometimes just 2-3 times a day. I use SSD as my main drive and I keep everything I access regulary on that drive. I've tried using the power plan option to turn off HDD after 6sec of it being inactive, but although the drive isn't being accessed at all, it takes up to 10min for it to turn off (stop spinning). I was also wondering if using the 6sec time to turn off HDD could impact my SSD's performance, or it will never go inactive due to the OS being installed on it? It would be awesome if there was an option to turn it off manually and then let it start spinning when I access it, or leave it completely turned off untill I access it and then turn it back off manually. I'm using a define r5 and my system is unhearable, at least for me, in every scenario except gaming and editing/modelling. I am also using a Maximus VII Ranger so I was wondering if there is an option I could use in the bios or some of the board's software? Win 10 enterprise x64 Thanks in advance.
  14. In other words, I could just get something like Asus z97-A which would give me all the features I wanted, room for a second gpu in the future and still save me a 100usd?
  15. Up to 300usd I guess, I don't really need things like Maximus VII Formula...
  16. Hello there, I was wondering if someone could help me chose a motherboard for my build. I am going to list full specs down bellow. There are few motherboards that really caught my eye, one of which is Asus Maximus VII Hero and maybe even a Sabertooth z97 Mark 1. Any suggesion is welcome, even from other manufactures than Asus. Speaking of color scheme, don't think of it. Today there are many ways of hiding colors I don't like without even voiding warranty, like 3d-printing a PCI-e slot guards that are all-matte black which would cover the red color on motherboard or for example some 3m masking tapes to cover red parts on the GPU, while I can't see the backplate because I'm using a tower cooler. Full system specs: CPU: Intel i7 4790k COOLER: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: G.Skill Sniper 2x4GB, going to replace it very soon for 16GB or more kit of Vengence GPU: Asus Strix GTX980ti PSU: Corsair RM850 Case: Fractal Define r5 - I think ATX is the max size that could fit in there, tho I don't even need anything bigger Thanks in advance, Stonedfish.
  17. Hello there, I was wondering what were the differences between the two motherboards listed above. What is the benefit of having each and which one is better from a gamer's perspective? If there is anyone knowledgeable enough, I would ask for an in-depth explanation and comparation of each board's features and benefits. The boards are: - Asus Maximus VII Hero - Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 Thanks in advance, Stonedfish.
  18. Hello there, I live on a countryside where everything sucks, including electricity. My problems mostly happen on weekends, and those are my computer freezing, my router freezing from time to time, my laptop(with no battery) freezing, hard disk drives (not ssd's) dying very fast, 2 microwaves died within a year and also microwaves sometimes, but rarely, are not heating water, so after 2mins in a 1200w microwave, water is still cold. I've been wondering if this problem could be caused by the electricity in my house/village. What actually happens is that on weekends, when also electronics fail the most, electricity sometimes goes crazy whenever a neighboor or some1 is using a device like microwave etc. What happens then is all the lights are "oscilating", or periodically changing brightness, sometimes they even go completely dark for a second or two. I'm not an expert in electricity but I assume that when lights do that, other more sensitive devices like computers are taking damage or something similar, or is my problem just a coincidence?
  19. According to the internet, the ROG one runs way cooler and I can even have it on my lap while surfing the internet due to it's cooling design. There are milions of complaints about razer's laptops overheating and G-sync is really a must for me. I've also had ROG products for a while and they ended up being very reliable and awesome performing. I would think about razer because of the color scheme, I absolutely love green color, so that's why I chose it for most of my peripherials, but I don't mind turning the keyboard lightning off since there is no use of it for me afterall.
  20. Hello there, I have no idea where to post this thread, nor I have any idea about mobile CPU's and GPU's. The time has come that I'd have to get rid of my system and get myself something a bit more portable. I do a lot of gaming, I mainly play World of Warcraft and it's the only game I really want to run completely maxed out, with 2x or 4x msaa, depending on how much is needed on a 17.3" screen. Other than that, I'm playing some other games like gta, where I don't really mind tweaking down the settings a little bit, while I also do a fair bit of 3d modelling and mechanical design. The gaming laptop I was looking for was the Asus ROG G751JY since it features tons of RAM, 4720hq, SSD, HDD and a 980m 4GB GPU, connected to a G-sync display which is awesome for a game that is bound to deep below 60fps at certain moments. My biggest concern is, will it be able to run world of warcraft on ultra settings with 2x or 4x msaa, still having that steady 60fps at most of the times? Is there anyone out there playing games on this laptop, how well does it perform? Kind regards.
  21. Got told by a customer support worker over at evga that this could happen due to a faulty psu - bad voltage and/or a faulty motherboard and that those 2 could make perma dmg to my gpu so it will still whine in another configuration.
  22. Nope, it's clicking noise/coil whine, something between. Firmly pressing the backplate towards the pcb removes the noise completely, but as soon as I release the noise is back
  23. I said my old palit 550ti also has that issue, it's not asus but it's barely audible on that 1 tho. Was just wondering if something in my pc is causing dmg to gpu's, if that's anyhow possible?
  24. Hello there, I'll make this short. I have already RMA'd my asus strix gtx970 and I've got a replacement without any question, so I got myself a 980ti which has a terrible buzzing noise while gaming, it's the electronic component buzzing and not the whine, but whine is also present above like 200 fps. I decided to throw in my old palit 550ti and realized it makes the same buzzing/clicky noise while gaming but this one has no coil whine whatsoever and is pretty much way more quiet than the other two - it's whisper quiet and barely noticable. In the meanwhile, I threw my strix 980ti inside my old config and it's also buzzing as hell there. So this config is: CPU: i5 4690k MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Ranger GPU: Asus Strix 980ti RAM: G.Skill Sniper 8gb PSU: Corsair RM850, I use a GS700 in my old config. What I was wondering, is there a chance certain component, I can only think of motherboard and/or PSU, starts this issue, this buzzing/clicking noise and then once it started it, it becomes permanent on the gpu, no matter which config you put the gpu in.
