  1. So I never owned a non intel Z motherboard. I understand that overclocking is not possible. Does that also mean that underclocking, undervolting and/or disabling cores in not available as well? Just wondering if I can do it on a 365B MOBO.
  2. Apparently there are not any options to run the PCIe as a different gen in the x570 bios according to some of these posts on reddit? According to the Hardware Canucks it is forcing it to 2D mod. I assume he means PCIe Gen 2? He only says RX5700 though so didnt know if this is across the board on all GPUs or just that specific one? I get that you could not run the rx5700 in PCIe 4.0 since there are literally no 4.0 riser cables. But does this also present a problem for everyone trying to run cards in 3.0?
  3. Been hearing x570 Mobo are not working with riser cables? I want to buy 3700x to pair with my 2 1080ti's but they sit on a vertical mount bracket and require riser cables. Can anyone confirm that riser cables do not work with x570 do to PCIe gen 4?
  4. Would it make more sense for me to just get the 3700x and a new x570 MOBO and in a years or so time upgrade to the next 7nm refresh for AMD? I would imagine that the refresh would have better clock speeds at that point? And my 3700x would still be somewhat relevant that I could resell the CPU and get a new one. My board would hopefully still be good for the next refresh I would imagine. Only monkey wrench is what will intel release in that time frame? Any one know when there next lineup will supposedly release, and when there 10nm will hit?
  5. Will the extra cores of the 3900x make a difference for sli compared to 9900k or even 3700x though? Because I see a bunch of gaming benchmarks for both 3700x and 3900x and they perform nearly identical but all the benchmarks use a single GPU.
  6. So I have been in desperate need of a new CPU im running an old 4790k, with 2 1080ti's. I have managed to hold out for the Ryzen 3000 release. Im trying to decide what CPU I should pair with my GPUs so I dont bottleneck my rig. I am primarily doing just gaming with some other light tasks but I would like to run games at 1440p and 4k at high refresh rates. I have been looking at 4 CPUs the 3700x, the 3800x, 3900x and the 9900k. First of will the extra cores of the 3900x benefit me since im running SLI? Or will higher clock speed ultimately win out. Especially since Ryzen 3000 seems to OC poorly? Im just not sure how these CPUs will effect SLI.
  7. I play classical guitar and am planning to get a bracket to for my phone. That way I can have the phone attached to the head of the guitar and look down the neck. however I need a decent Microphone for it but it needs to go through USB-C. Or I guess there are adapters? So I was wondering If anyone would be able to give me any advice for a microphone to record music onto my Pixel 2?
  8. OK I will look for a low cost GPU and get the ryzen 3, other options look good but I would like to be on the am4 platform. Thhnx for the replies!
  9. So I have been trying to put together a budget PC and can't decide which CPU to get. Right now I am at $550.00 for the entire build including peripherals, except for the CPU. This PC will be used mainly for streaming and watching movies. So I thought an APU would be fine since I would not have the cost of a GPU. But I have read that the A12 is based on the bulldozer architecture, and was not performing very well. The Ryzen 3 is the same price as the A12 but I would need a GPU also. So basicly I just want a PC that will be snappy and pull video and web pages up quickly. Would it be worth it to go with Ryzen 3 or can I stick with the A12? Current build Windows 10 home: $99.99 G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x4GB DDR4 2400 $84.99 Logitech MK120 mouse/keyboard $15.99 ASRock AB350M pro4 AM4 $74.99 Corsair CX550 $49.99 Sandisk Ultra II 240GB $88.49 BenQ GW2270 21.5 1080p $79.00 Thermal take core V21 SPCC micro atx 59.93 Total $553.37 A12-9800 $109.99 Ryzen 3 $109.99 plus cost of low end GPU
  10. OK thnx one thing I forgot to mention is the pump fan wire has the end plug of a 4 pin but there is only 2 wires actually connected to it and the 1 wire makes no connection with the 3 pin fan hub. Dunno if that matters or not?
  11. So my pump has a molex and a fan wire that needs to get connected. But here is my dilemma I have 2 phanteks fan hubs that are all 3 pin and the hub then has an extra 4 pin wire that the Manuel says to connect to the Mobo CPU fan. The molex on the pump I assume I connect directly to the PSU but I was going to put the pump fan wire to the fan hub, however the pump fan is 4 pin and fan hub is 3 so... Should I buy some kind of adapter like molex to fan? Or could I connect the fan hubs 4 pin to the Mobos sys fan and use pump 4 pin to Mobos CPU fan? Or vice versa?
  12. didn't realize that could happen I will definitely do parallel then.
