  1. sorry if this is the wrong forum, if troubleshooting or something is more appropriate, please move my thread if possible.
  2. Last night I was laying in bed watching Netflix and after an episode ended I got up to turn something else on. The static from my blanket pulling against my body as I got out of bed must have charged me because when I went to press the ESC key (there's no cap on my escape key because I vacuumed it up on accident years ago) I felt a static shock. Immediately after, I noticed ESC was no longer working along with F keys, F1 through F11. I use F7 and F8 as media forward and backward and F9 and F10 for stop and play hotkeys on winamp and none of them are working. I also opened up a game and tried to press F1-F11 to set as hotkeys and then of them registered. F12 appears to be fine, as well as every other key on my keyboard. I was wondering if there might be someway to restore functionality because I opened MS Paint and tried pressing alt+F4 to test if F4 was alright, and although it didn't work as an exit shortcut, I noticed something appeared, which makes me think there might still be some input able to be received in my F keys? When I press alt+F1 through F11 some interface appears in the top left of MS paint, so some input must be still working? (image attached) I was wondering if maybe the static shock reprogrammed or did something to these keys and if it might be possible to use the software or something to restore their functionality. I'm not sure what to do, or if I need to buy a new keyboard. I've tried unplugging and replugging it in, into other USB ports, and restarting my PC.
  3. Yea there is 1 year warranty on the entire system. Here's some screenshots to help illustrate, I tried the plugging in iPhone headphones, they also get static.
  4. No I meant, like they make static on other computers because those computers even without the speakers/headsets plugged into them will still emitt this static noise on the onboard audio on the monitor connected to them.
  5. Wow, I wish I would have known this before I went through the trouble of thinking something like this Xonar Essence STX was something worth choosing. I will look into what you mentioned the DAC/AMP, I hope it fixes it though, if it doesn't I might killllmyselfffff. Thanks.
  6. I plugged in another pair of headphones in and the sound is still audible. Do these things, external DAC/AMP still go through the speakers to the ASUS Xonar Essence STX? Or does it render a soundcloud useless? Either way, I'll do anything to fix the problem, I absolutely need audio to be able to use this system I spent so much on for sound design.
  7. Worse case, I'm going to call in some guy from a local Computer Store or I don't even know are there "sound specialists" lol... and even if they did come I don't know this problem is so bizarre to me how is it even rectified like are they going to stare at the hardware and plug things in and out maybe go on the PC...
  8. Could it have anything to do with the electricity in my house? Do all computers have some degree 'of noise' because I have another computer downstairs in room and there's just like the base level noise/humming static that isn't too audible but you can hear it if you put your ear righttt up against it. and like I said, this is my old PC i am typing from with the clunker speakers and have audible humming the same way. It's in two rooms from my upstairs where the new PC is plugged in an also having humming noises. I'm very sure it's not the speakers/headsets that are at fault, but honestly nothing is making any sense. I've read a lot of similar people experiencing the 'my mouse and windows being resized and things correlated to CPU load, any computer process fluctuating the humming nosies'
  9. Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset PreSonus Eris E8 speakers If you don't mind reading some material I've read a whole bunch of bizarre things related to this, one in particular I'm mentioning because he attested confidently and even went through the process of testing different power supplies/graphic cards/motherboards and the problem persisted: This thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/324159-28-hear-mouse-moving-windows-speakers Near the end they talk about a fix wherein you use a USB hub or something to separate peripherals from the audio or something? I don't know, I have no idea how it could fix anything, I literally read that entire thread barely understanding half of it, I've been reading threads like that, literally dozens upon dozens, for the past three days. I feel so hazy and out of it. Perhaps this doesn't matter though because I'm using the soundcard for audio not the motherboard? Regarding the latest update for the drivers though, you mean then for my particular soundcard the "Beta Version 7.0.8.1821" whose only changelog includes "Xonar Essence STX for Windows 7 32/64-bits Version: 7.0.8.1821 beta version 1.Modify Japanese and Russian Language." as opposed to the independent unofficial "Uni Xonar Drivers" thing. I really don't know, I'll try anything though.
  10. I have no idea if anything is up to date, I tried to illustrate at the beginning of the thread (and I understand it's very unreasonable to expect anyone to have read the entire OP completely thoroughly) that I have no idea about computers and have been living in a time capsule with my Windows Vista clunker PC, though I forgot to mention that since then/up until last month I have never updated a driver, installed a windows update, nothing. I just bought the PC and turned it on and never did anything else. I don't know how to install drivers or disable drivers. I mean I get it, but with this ASUS Xonar Essence STX apparently there has been no update until recently in 2013 which is a beta update for the drivers. I also read something about this "Uni Xonar Drivers" which is some 'unofficial independent' drivers, but also more reliable or something? I have no idea what to do in regards of technical stuff like this.
  11. Indeed, I did mention that I also have a gaming headset and plugged it into the PC as well, and got the same symptoms.
  12. I only have two other computers, both of which are very bad, and both of which emit static on the display monitor's onboard speakers connected to them. So when I plug in speakers/headsets to them, the static they were already generating is generated just in the new speakers. The computer I'm writing from now is my old PC and it was two clunker $15.00 speakers in them that also produce static, but when my PreSonus Eris E8's were plugged into them, the same exact static was made as well, just on a larger scale because the speakers were more capable. It could be a motherboard problem even though the speakers were also plugged into directly the soundcard and not the motherboard? Like, because I'm assuming everything in the PC is interconnected so if one thing is faulty they'll all play off that faultiness? Regardless, what do you mean by plug the speak in my phone or iPod? The PreSonus Eris E8 monitors? Are you saying to plug those into a phobe/iPod? Thanks for the replies.
  13. I know nothing about: Computers Electricity Sound Electronics pretty much anything regarding this topic, I am a complete dunce about. I can provide any information necessary and do anything asked, please I hope someone does instruct me in any way, I'm willing to try anything at this point. Background: I've been using a horrible PC since 2006, Vista, it only costs $500.00 (monitor included) and the most I could ever run was CS:S on it's lowest settings and resolution. With this computer I had a similar issue, static/buzzing/noise being interpretted (is what I assumed was happening) by my speakers. I always thought, it must be my bad computer. Well I am very thankful to announce that I finally upgraded my PC here are the specs: SOUND CARD: ASUS Xonar Essence STX Speakers: PreSonus Eris E8 Monitors (left and right speakers only) Motherboard: ASUS X99 Deluxe Drive: 1TB Samsung 850 Pro Series Processor: Intel Core i7 5930K Hex-Core 3.5GHz (3.7GHz TurboBoost) Graphics: DUAL (2) 8GB XFX Double Dissipation Radeon R9 290X Memory: 32GB Corsair LPX 2666MHz (4x8GB) Power Supply: 1000 Watt Corsair RM1000 Operating System: Windows 7 Professional USB Peripherals: Corsair Gaming K70 RGB LED Mechanical Keyboard Razer Taipan Mouse I'd also like to add that, obviously I am an idiot and don't know anything about computers and don't even deserve this system (I am sorry), I purchased this PC from Origin and just mention this to cancel out any questions about maybe I put the computer together improperly or the cabling was crappy, etc. I trust that they did a proper job of assembling and testing out the hardware before shipping it out. My monitors are plugged into the Left/Right outputs of the ASUS Xonar Essenece STX by plugging the cables provided with the PreSonus Eris E8 into the RCA to 3.5mm Y cable provided with the soundcard. Problem: To my complete dismay, I am now experiencing an even worse static/humming than I experienced on my previous, clunker PC. Everything is plugged in and set up. If the PC is off and the speakers are powered on by themselves, no background noise is heard. As soon as the PC is powered on, you will be able to hear a faint static/humming if you put your ear up to the speakers. When the PC is started up and running, it's just about the same. This static is very audible, but able to be drowned out by music. I was optimistic and thought, well I dealt for so many years with this static I guess I can still deal with it as long as I'm drowning it out. All of this came crashing down as soon as I tried running Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I've never played any game made past 2008~ on PC, simply because I could not run it, and was very excited to finally play a new game without lag. As soon as the CS:GO menu came up, correlating this with the computer doing more work running a game than running Google Chrome, the buzzing/static was immensely intensified, audible even through the game's menu music. I then joined an actual match, and the static/buzzing intensified even further, completely unbearable and making it impossible to play the game. This noise persists when the volume is muted. While I was playing CS:GO I muted all of the PC's sound/volume and just the fact that the PC/Speakers were powered on and playing a game, the sound persisted consistently and always will. Games and programs that cause more load aside, this consistent buzzing is heard throughout anything I do on my computer, it's just intensified when I do something like play games or use a DAW. Which I also would like to add the reason I upgraded as well is because I never wanted to lag ever while loading multiple VST's in my DAW, but all of this has been shattered as my DAW uses high performance and creates the similar unbearable static. Other Various Fluctuations in the Static: Although the static is constant, certain functions/computer use habits will trigger fluctuations in the static like blips, snips, cracks, I don't even know, it can get worse too depending on what it is I'm doing on something like Google Chrome (like loading a page with a lot of stuff on it, while it's loading the static fluctuates). Once a page is loaded on Goggle Chrome, even simply using the mousewheel to scroll up and down, every subtle turn of the mousewheel correlates with a fluctuation in this static. I've read all sorts of stuff related to this online and there are so many different things like, wires, cables, the hardware, the positioning, interference, drivers, etc. I don't know anything about anything, and definitely don't know anything about all of this electronic stuff, I have no idea where to begin, I have no idea what to do. I'm literally sitting on a $6,000+ cumulative investment with nothing to do as my main use with this PC is sound design. Another odd fluctuation is when let's say I have two Chrome windows open and I take one of them and unmaximize it so it's able to be stretched/resized. As soon as I click on the borders of that window and begin to drag my mouse to resize, the fluctuation occurs and persists so long as I am dragging the mouse and resizing; once I let go the static, of course, still remains but no longer fluctuates. One More Thing: I also tried plugging the speakers into the motherboard and there was still this static. I also plugged in a gaming headset as well, and there was the same static. Closing: I humbly beg anyone, please, what do I need to do? Where do I start? I feel depressed, I'm honestly a big loser and do nothing but go on the computer and this problem has had me off the computer for most of the week, and I know this is pathetic, but my god I just feel so depressed; there's nothing to do, I understand people have "lives" I have no life. When I'm not on the PC I'm vegetating, an aimless consciousness. I am desperation. I need help. Please. I greatly appreciate anyone's time or effort. Please if I am missing any information, ask me for it, I'll take pictures, do anything, I am desperate, I need help.
