I love to write, to draw, and to create stories of all kinds. I like computer hardware and fixing things more than software. I'd like to be able to build my own computer someday. I also like to go outside to the swings, swim, and play video games.

Trying to get a dual monitor setup without cpu graphics
TechMali replied to TechMali's topic in Troubleshooting
I feel kind of dumb now, I'm not sure why I never noticed the extra ports on my GPU but thank you for telling me, that should make things a lot easier. Lol. -
Trying to get a dual monitor setup without cpu graphics

The thing is it looks like my specific motherboard should have iGPU, I'm not sure why it's not an option. I don't have a display port on my GPU, only one hdmi. -
So I bought a second monitor, and I have two hdmi on my computer and a display port. Only the gpu hdmi works. I did some research to try to get the second monitor to work and why I kept getting no display, come to find out my cpu didn't come with integrated graphics so that's probably why the other two ports aren't working, and why I can't install the second monitor. My question is, can I use the gpu to somehow power the other two ports without needing cpu integrated graphics? I read about something called iGPU while researching, but couldn't find it in the ASUS UEFI bios. Here are my specs: Windows 10 Home ASUS B560M-Plus Wifi (version 2.21.1278) Intel i7-10700KF Nvidia GTX Geforce 3060 32 GB DDR4 Ram The monitor I'm trying to install is an ASUS VG248QG if that makes a difference. I have an old Insignia TV I originally had, that I want to use as a secondary display now.

Yeah, it's and 890FXA-GD65 motherboard, as far as I know there's no connection for video on it, the card is required. I was just trying to make sure it wasn't an issue of the power supply not giving enough power or something. His hard drive should be safe at least, right? I doubt a dying hard drive would give a symptom like that.

There's no built in video card on this computer, so plugging it into the motherboard is a no go.

How would I do that?

Hi, my friend has an AMD computer and today the computer boots up, but the screen was black. He turned it off and tried to clean it out a little of dust with air, and tried again. The screen is blue with black lines through it now. I'm trying to figure out if this is the graphics card, or a power issue from somewhere. It looks like a hardware failure to me somewhere, though. He's quite torn up because he can't afford to fix it and it's the only one he had. It's an older computer so I figured it'd die at some point. I've uploaded what the computer looks like inside. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be based on this info or should I do more troubleshooting? I know the monitor isn't an issue because it works with everything else.

So a friend of mine needs a Mac computer for school and he wants to use it for some gaming as well since he can't afford to get two different computers (think Fallout 4 with medium-ish graphics.) He's going to be dual booting it with both windows and mac, so my question is: what kind of Mac should he get? Thanks for all answers, you guys are awesome.

If anyone can recommend a good SSD in favour of the hard drive in the list I would appreciate it; I'd much prefer the speed over the space given. Although I suppose I could just get both in the future.
-
He listed a monitor at the bottom of the list. Would you suggest a better one? Keep in mind it would be for a gaming computer.
-
Thanks for that, I wouldn't have known otherwise, there are so many video cards out there. I'll learn as I do things. I'll copy down this list for reference when it's time to buy my parts =) Still open to suggestions though!
-
Why change the video card? Would my build get bottlenecked by other components or do you just think it would run better with that video card? Everything else looks pretty solid to me Also I'm not really sure how to quote in an edit :'D So sorry for the double post
-
I'm not really looking to overclock my PC so I thought the H97 would be more fitting for my build. Nor am I looking to install two graphics cards lol
-
I'm not really sure what you mean by Nvidia features - I know it deals with the graphics, I believe. Do you mean using multiple graphics cards? I already knew this, but thank you! Is there a particular card I should get or are wifi cards a dime a dozen like memory is?
-
I do need a monitor - I already have the OS CD, speakers, mouse, etc. And yeah, thanks for reminding me
