  1. I changed to 3 different hard drives
  2. Hi guys well i am very very upset cause i havent been able to figure out what is going on with my laptop. I own 2 Lenovo L420 they are exactly alikenothing is different i5-2520M at 2.5ghz (3.0 ghz TB) 4 gb ddr3 1333mhz (2 x2gb Samsung) 256gb toshiba 2.5 hard drive. Windows 8.1 single language Ok so both have the same OS, the same specs and everything. One day one of the laptops stopped working. I mean it boots but it wont get past windows logo. I tried everything. I reinstalled windows even tried with linux ubuntu. It installs then it wont get past the logo(windows or linux) and it stays there. I switched memories from pc to pc to see if maybe there was an error. nothing. I bought a new hard drive a SSD 200gb EVO from samsung. Same thing. I changed the cpu even added some thermal paste and checked on temps. Everything worked on first pc but not on the other one. I am starting to think that maybe the mobo is not working. I dont really know what to do.
  3. that is the problem i lost it but if they keep selling the gpu they should have a driver somewhere
  4. I used it but it says that it is not compatible
  5. Hi everyone i am actually clueless about what to do with my current graphics card. Last year i bought a Powercolor R5 230 1gb https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131616 I was using it for basic stuff and then i bought a gtx 1050 which is far superior. Although; i wanted to give it a use on an older machine. And i havent been able to find the damn driver anywhere. Powercolor doesnt seem to have the driver and i asked them if they could send me a link or something but they never answered back. I tried several times but they never do anything. I asked newegg and they told me to ask powercolor so i ended up in the same place. I tried the catalyst amd driver but it is not compatible with this particular card. The funny thing is that newegg and powercolor continue to sell this card but no driver? What can i do?
  6. Hi all, I am the kind of person that likes to keep my stock speed just the way it is. However; when the cpu is not good enough for the new generation games or programs then i oc. Here is my question i bought an old Dell Latitude E6420 with i5 dual core at 2.4ghz with turbo boost. While ocing a laptop may not be the best idea i would like to give it a try even if i have to plug a portable fan to help it keep it cool. If i OC it to 10% of stock speeds will that affect the turbo boost by causing any conflict with it or will it scale it to its maximum speed when need it. E.G: stock 2.4, with turbo 2.9ghz. OC 10% 2.6 <==== will turbo boost still scale it to 2.9 if needed or will it stop working. Thanks for your time. P.D: I have oced only core2duo and core 2 quad cpus and amds. This would be my first time with i3,i5 and soo on.
  7. You can always overclock a GPU and see which one gives you better performance. I would take the Gtx instead
  8. All parts need to be cooled down but more importantly is the cpu. though the 2 big fans would benefit more your entire system.
  9. Hi guys well i have a doubt, but first i want to make this very clear. I AM NOT BUYING ANYTHING this is a question of whether should i add something that i already have or just leave it the way it is until I have some spare money to buy actually something better. "Any suggestion of buying an intel and get something else is OFF TOPIC cause like i said i m not buying". My GF has a desktop pc i built for her a while ago. She is a world of warcraft gamer and a regular user who just browse and use fb. I know this may not be the best gaming rig and it will be a little more than an entry level pc, but i wanted to try AMD apus and they performed quite decent. Everything was bought on a DIY upgrade kit so it was good for $$$ budget. System Specs: CPU: AMD A8 - 6600k @ 3.9ghz (stock speed) FM2 MOBO: ASUS A88XM-A FM2+ AMD A88X RAM: HyperFury Black 8gb 1866 DDR3 HDD: WD Black 1TB. Cooler Master Seidon 120 15" LG LED Screen (cant remember the specs) Yes it is very small lol. She is running 1600 x 1200 in Good in World of Warcraft Draenor I know an Athlon x4 860k would have been much better with a decent card that was some extra money i didnt have so i m not buying anything else for the time being. Also the FM2 cpu will not benefit from the FM2+ when adding a card. So finally the question. Her CPU has integrated graphics HD 8570D. I have a R5 230 Powercolor 1GB that i bought a long time ago and I am not using it at all. Will she benefit Graphically speaking other than a little more fps and the ram that it will offer after disabling the internal gpu? Like going High or something a little beyond Good (Personalized) or will this card decrease the graphics. Thanks and sorry for the long question. It is better to be very specific.
  10. Hi all, My mother in law's birthday came up and i promised her a cheap pc so she could browse and play on fb. I bought her a Biostar J1900Mh2. (It was cheap I dont live in the states so when people tell me about buying from newegg or tigerdirect or any other place i gotta ship it to my country so its always an extra). I bought a really cheap case with a psu included. A Cooler Master with a 450w Psu (25$) that one i bought it here and I ordered a G.SKILL Value Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333. So I have: CPU: Intel Celeron J1900 @ 2.0ghz Quad Core Ram: G.Skill Value Series 8GB 1333 GPU: Sapphire R7 240 4GB. SDD: Samsung Evo 850 120gb. The motherboard does not support Dolby or HD Sounds but it is fine for what she uses. I told her she could use this for a HTPC but the internal graphics are quite bad so I gave her a spare graphic card since the mobo has a PCI-E x16 2.0 Slot (x1 speed) which is really slow. I installed Win 7 Pro 64x. It is lighting fast for a cheap pc. My question is: How well would this perform for gaming with the current specs? Cause her son wants to use it for GTA 5 and World of Warcraft. Anyone any ideas?
  11. Ok guys i had a real issue today i will try not to panic nor freak out but i think my hopes are dead. I had an old computer sitting in my room and i wanted to use it. It was a Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4ghz with 16 gb DDR2 (4x4gb sticks) and 1 HDD Seagate 7200 rpm (500gb) So long story short i was going to use the pc and it failed on boot. I tried inserting the win 7 disk to repair the booting problem but i couldnt. My main concern was the data i had in there. I tried to reinstall windows but when i was at the installation screen it showed only 3.5gb out of my 500gb. I turned off the pc and grabbed the Hdd and put it in a hdd case and plugged it in another pc as an external hdd to see if it would boot but it didnt even read it. What can i do?
  12. Before i make my questioni would like to thank u all for the quick response in my and many people´s questions. This forum is great and has very mature members i havent found a single offensive thread or answer yet. I know pretty much that most pcs nowadays with good amount of ram and a decent cpu would be able to get your job done especially in music production since its not as demanding as a video production or gaming itself. So my best bud likes power but its tight on budget he has been a amd lover ever since i know him. Nothing bad with that since amd makes a good budget pc. Unfortunately for him Intel is kicking butts real hard. Still he wants to stick with a AMD pc. We have a band and we plan to make some semi professional recording since we are working mostly with an acoustic/electric guitar and a workstation N364. We were using an apple tablet but he gave it to his sister. He doesnt want to go beyond 200$. We have the case and the hdds and a 60gb SDD for booting. I really thought an apu wouldnt hurt since we dont care about the video or will this bottleneck the music rendering? Sorry for the long story, So these were my options for his builds: 1) A4-7300 Dual Core at 3.8 ghz 4gb ram/8gb 1866 Gigabyte F2A68HM http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9640847&CatId=14 2)FX-8300 at 3.3ghz 4/8 gb ram 1866 Asus M5A78L http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9496636&CatId=11508 Any other suggestion is accepted. Try not to suggest Intel since he will not even consider it. Even if we know it may be better.
  13. Q1: i would use GTX980 4gb for ultra graphics if you want to use 2 then go ahead. Q2: It is important to build a good pc especially when you are only using it mainly for your game. I would go with i7-3770 at least to run smooth. Q3 and Q4 the problem with wanting a budget pc is ultra and budget do not get along well. How much is your budget and what will you be using 720p or 1080?
  14. Hi guys i am actually a newbie using linux. I have had some little exp with linux and enjoyed it alot but i have noticed that Ubuntu 14.0 for example even the lighter version still needs at least 3gb ram to run fine compared to windows 7. Not saying win 7 is better but i read many comments about how linux runs faster on older pcs than windows would do. I also tried Mint KDE and liked it alot. I have 2 systems, the oldest one is an Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4ghz 8gb ram ddr2 Powercolor R7 250 2gb gddr3 Gigabyte p4 mobo (not really important) ssd evo 120 (main) wd 500gb black (secondary) It runs basically win 7 perfectly fine and also tried win 8.1(i dont like it) I was thinking will i find a better performance/speed using Ubuntu or any other linux distro than i am currently using with windows.? I use it mainly for regular gaming at 720p and i play wow. Not concerned about ultra graphics since i only use it when i feel nostalgic about my old system.
  15. My cousin bought a am3+ mobo unfortunately it only has 6 x sata2 ports and he also bought a ssd Samsung 850 EVO Series 120GB So i know it will work but how bad will the performance and speed be affected with them? He will definetly have an increase when booting compared to his regular 5400rpm hdd but will he be better buying a new mobo with sata3 ports?
