  1. The reason is i run the LG C2 at 125% scaling, so that gives the text enough pixels to to be blurry. However a 1440p screen scaled at 125% would be roughly the same at 1080p at 100% and as as programmer that vertical space is important to me, and 1080p it just too little there.
  2. No i do not have issues with this screen. However it is too big at 42" and i would like some more horizontal screen space. So i want 2 monitors. or a ultra wide
  3. My current home screen is a 42" LG C2 that is why i have fallen in love with the Glossy screen
  4. I'm currently in a bit of a monitor conundrum and could use your advice. I recently purchased a Samsung G9 49" OLED monitor, but unfortunately had to return it due to text clarity issues that were affecting my programming work. I've since placed an order for a Samsung G9 NEO 57" monitor, but I'm still on the lookout for something that truly fits my needs. Here's what I'm ideally looking for: a glossy 4K non-OLED monitor with a 120Hz refresh rate. My plan is to set up a dual-screen workspace. The glossy screen aesthetic is something I really enjoy, and I'm trying to find a more traditional 16:9 4k screen that would allow me to cancel my NEO order and purchase two of these ideal monitors instead. My previous searches mostly brought up OLED screens (which I want to avoid due to text clarity) or 60Hz monitors (which don't quite meet my gaming needs). I'm hoping that someone here might know of a monitor that fits this specific set of criteria. Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
  5. Ok thanks for the input. I think i will stick with non OLED for some more time
  6. I have done a little more research and it seems lg-48gq900-b has been release a Display version of the C2. @StahlmannIt would not be my primary monitor. I have a Samsung CRG9 that i use at work, so this screen would only be used for gaming and creative programming so i don't think burn in would be much of a problem.
  7. I am in the market for a new monitor and i really like the idea of something the size of the AORUS FO48U or the LG C1. However they are 1+ years old now, and i think i caught in a recent video that there are better options now. Is AORUS FO48U and LG C1 still the best options? How is the LG C1 with HDMI 2.1? I have only ever used display port and when i have tried the HDMI port i have always had issues with blurry images. My main usage is 50% programming and 50% gaming, so it is important that text is displayed clearly.
  8. Thanks for all the great feedback. I rally think that going with some older hardware would be the correct thing to do. I have been looking a bit on ebay, but i am having a hard time finding anything that is less then 10 years old, and that seems a little order then would be a good idea. i should look at roughly 3-5 years old right? I did find one that seems like a good options: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175103932786?hash=item28c501f972:g:veIAAOSwHSFh3DSS a Dell PowerEdge R430 for $1300. What is some good search CPU's / models to look for?
  9. What is a HPF? i have been searching google for that acronym but cant find anything related to audio.
  10. I have decided to create a homelab. Mostly because i find that i spend roughly $200 a month on cloud hosting that could easily be hosted at home. But also so i have something to play with :) My current home server is a 6 year old desktop with an Intel I5 with 2 CPU's, not really something to write home about. The only thing this is server is doing is running Plex Server and NZBget which it is doing fine. I want to build a new server that can take run the following: Plex Server NAS (I am planning about 8 disks in raid 0+1) Home Assistance Postgres server MongoDB Few frontend applications Few backend applications The load is not going to be too crazy, my 3900X in my desktop computer would be able to handle it. But I am planning to run each in a VM so I need some CPU cores to go around. I really want to go with a solution that can be rack mounted, to keep everything orderly. I have spend quite some time looking at rack mounted server, and have just gotten more confused then anything else. My budget is roughly 3k for the server it self. With the cost of server hardware, such as 16 core Epyc costing ~1500 (Epyc 7351), but a 16 core Ryzen costing ~750 (Ryzen 9 3950X). I would prefer to go with server hardware, but it seems that just build a Ryzen 9 3950X desktop in rack mountable case would be the best option, or am i missing something here?
  11. Over the last couple of years both my wife and i have been extremely annoyed by speak, music and effects levels in movies and tv shows. Where you have to turn up the volume so much to even be able to hear what they say and then when the action starts i wake the neighbors. Current i have a Vizio sound bar, and i was thinking that upgrading to an actual sound system with good speakers would help, thinking they save something that can normalize the sound levels a bit. But before i go out and invest in this, would this even help, do modern AV receivers such as AVR-X8500H even have a feature like this?
  12. Great Thank you, both of you for your help!
  13. Would this combination work then? https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Ethernet-Converter-Supporting-MC220L/dp/B003CFATL0/ref=psdc_537316_t1_B099JF9KJD and https://www.amazon.com/10Gtek-GLC-SX-MMD-GLC-SX-MM-Transceiver-1000Base-SX/dp/B00U77VPX2/ref=pd_bxgy_img_1/130-1302132-7811962?pd_rd_w=Jlv0a&pf_rd_p=c64372fa-c41c-422e-990d-9e034f73989b&pf_rd_r=HE0FB86ABHQ3V7GPX4DJ&pd_rd_r=bca88c29-606d-4c34-9837-9a37aaf85beb&pd_rd_wg=y2pF8&pd_rd_i=B00U77VPX2&psc=1
  14. I have to run a cable to a barn that is roughly 400 feet from my house, i understand that this is too long for normal Ethernet cables, so i need to run fiber-optics instead. The barn is only going to be there for another year or so, and it will only contain my gym where i have a TV i want to stream Netflix/Hulu on, so it dose not need to super durable. I though i bought the right things, but when i got it i found out that the connectors on the cable dose not match the ones on the converter i bought. But i am not sure did i get the wrong cable or the wrong converters? 15. Ok thank you, i have always had good experience with Samsung hard drives. Have 2 SATA SSD running is Raid 0, and they are still pulling along after 5 years of 8+ hours a day.
  16. For the GPU i know i won't be able to get it withing next month or so i am ready to use my 980TI until then
  17. Yeah i am currently looking at the case reviews from them, there are a lot to go though When you say cheaper SSD do you refer to the storage or getting an EVO instead of EVO Plus?
  18. My Last PC was a top of the line monster from 2015, but it is getting a little old now and am planning to get a new PC, but i don't have much knowledge about what i should be getting any more. So before i ordered i wanted to get some feedback. I am not sure about the MOBO selection, the memory (is is correct that 3600 is the best RAM speed to get?) and the Power Supply is that one can support the new 3080? 19. I am looking for a new monitor, and i would like an ultra wide or super ultra wide. However i am having an issues on settelng on one. The resolution must be 1440, and i would like the refresh rate to be 144hz. I am going to use it mainly for productivity work (programming, doc writing) and light/medium gaming. So i don't the color accuracy matters a lot to me, i am unsure about the refresh rate though. I have a 2080 TI so i should be able to run any monitor. The ones that i am looking at right now is AOC Agon AG493UCX 49" - Unsure about the quality of this brand though Samsung 49-Inch CRG9 Curved Gaming Monitor (LC49RG90SSNXZA) – 120Hz Refresh - This is a 120hz, that may be fine for me, i have only had a 144hz before jumped from 60hz, and it has a 4ms response rate
  20. I am not bound to Razer, I though it would be good as a comparison for the eGPU. My concer with other comparisons to the stealth is the cooling.
  21. I am currently looking for a new laptop, the laptop would be mainly for productivity (coding, word, excel) but i want to be able to game should i get the itch. Because the gaming is the smallest part of usages am i really interested in an eGPU solution, but i am a bit nervous about taking the $2k leap into that setup. Another reason i am really interested in the eGPU solution is that i really want a higher then 1080p resolution. Can some one help me with FPS comparisons between Razer Balde 15, RTX 2070 Max-Q Razer Balde Stealth 2019, with a RTX 2070 as eGPU external monitor Razer Blade Stealth 2019, with a RTX 2070 as eGPU laptop monitor. I am looking at a few different solutions. Razer Balde 15 with RTX 2070 Max-Q Razer Blade Stealth 2019 (4k) + Razer Core X Matebook X Pro + Razer Core X I really like the 3:2 aspect ration, do you guys have any recommendations for a 3:2 laptop that would do well with a eGPU?
  22. Forgot to add, my budget is roughly 2500. Where looking at ROG ZEPHYRUS (GX501), but it is only 1080p
  23. Yeah it looks good, just cant figure out where the 4k model is sold. I will not have room for a desktop computer, after i move next moth. I made a deal with my wife either we get a 2 bed room apartment or i get a new gaming laptop We deided on the gaming laptop.
