  1. Yes, the server has its own power. I'm not sure if we're on the same page. This is the adaptor we're using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GQV83Y2?pf_rd_p=019ad97c-f176-43be-96b9-991a6dc65763&pf_rd_r=505Z3VNZBBH4C2HRVB88 It is powered by bus power from the laptop, it does not have it's own dedicated power. Our setup is as follows: Lumaforge Jellyfish server -> 10gig cat 6a line ran to desk -> cat 6a plugged into the akitio adaptor -> akition adaptor plugin into mbp via thunderbolt 3
  2. The server is not sending power. Our 10g is running over cat 6A
  3. Wow sorry, just realized I didn't clarify the issue lol. We get disconnected from our server multiple times in a row and have issues reconnecting. We know it's not the server itself since we have other machines connected in different variations without disconnection issues.
  4. Hi everyone, Wanted to see if people have been having bus issues on the 2018 MBP. I work as a media manager and my whole team has issues with our 10gig to akitio thunderbolt 3 bus powered adapter. We're trying to figure out if it's the box itself or if it's the MBP bus. Our machines are completely specced out minus the SSD not being fulling maxed (because who needs a 4tb SSD for that price lol). I'd be happy to answer any questions as well. Cheers!
  5. This isn't really a discussion of what we should be using. We know what we can get us the most power. We literally have to upgrade our hardware every year. It would be an awful investment for us to run our systems off iMac's.
  6. Let me put it this way, a DIT's system needs to run as strong as a post production work station. We also don't work for companies unless you count the local Camera Union a company lol. All we care about is getting the most power out of our system but it has to run on MacOS since the majority of the software we use is Mac exclusive (unfortunately).
  7. Just to clarify, I'm a sole proprietor and at least 95% of the people in my specific field are running hackintoshes. Apple doesn't care about us, we're too small of a group for them to waste their time on lol
  8. Hi all, I'm hoping I can get some feedback from the LTT guys on this one. So I'm in the film industry as a D.I.T (digital imaging technician) and we use hackintoshes all the time. My buddy and I were discussing the video you guys did on making your own hackintosh's and we wanted to know if there's any bottlenecking at all since it has to run through a VM. We also wanted to know if thunderbolt 3 works or not. Sorry if this thread is in the wrong spot and I'll move it to a more suited spot if there is one! Cheers
  9. Everything works fine without the overclock. My issue I have is that I can't even get the chip to 3.5. Even if I was shit out of luck, I should be able to atleast get it to 3.5. It could very well be it just can't overclock but that's pretty shitty if that's the case.
  10. Just an update, I updated the chipset and I'm still having problems. I'm curious to know if it could alsozbe a psu problem. Thoughts?
  11. Have to stop for the night. I'll be testing again tomorrow so I will update the thread tomorrow on the progress.
  12. That's not a bad idea. I could swap the stuff from this rig into my rig and see what happens. If that works out, my guess is that it's the mobo
  13. Yeah that's why I'm confused. I'm wondering if it's the cpu but I really have no idea.
  14. I believe I already did. I had that going to 1.2v if that's the correct thing I was pushing up. All of this still doesn't explain the 65 degrees when I have a that type of cooler on it.
