  1. Hey all, I build a new PC 2 weeks ago and I noticed that the CPU cooler I'm using is running a bit high. I am using the Hyper TX3 Evo and these are the temps I'm getting : Idle : 30 to 32 degrees In games : around 55 to a max of 60 / 62 prime95 : after ~20 secs up to 90 degrees (would go up to 95 I think but I don't want to put my CPU through that ) I did some online searching and asked a friend and both said it's a bit too hot. My room temperature is around 20/21 degrees. It is my first build so the thermal paste wasn't on so good the first time, but I re-did that like 4 or 5 times now and I think I got the hang of it (last 3 times went good, don't ask me why I did it the last 3 times but I just wanted to be 100% sure it wasn't the thermal paste application!). I checked all the plugs and everything and they are in correct. When I run prime95 I hear the CPU fan speed going to 100% and I can see it is running at 100% in fan xpert thingy from asus. My setup is relevant info (if you cant open the image) CPU : i7-4790k CPU-Fan : Hyper TX3 Evo Case : NZXT H440 Motherboard : Asus Z97-Pro Gamer Memory : 2 x Corsair Vengeance 16GB PSU : Corsair RM 750 Everything is default, I did not overclock anything or do something weird. Below are some pictures of the pc. http://i.imgur.com/hN4OOKK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AkTkqrd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6Oqbvgw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/z6W9FCy.jpg I have no idea why it is giving me such high temperatures and I kinda want to buy a new CPU cooler now unless you might have an idea why my CPU cooler is not working that well. If you need more information about the setup or something please ask. At the moment I mostly use it for gaming and the temperatures that it is reaching now are no problem (mid 50 to 60) but I want to use it for some heavier stuff later on (much compiling and rendering) so I think I'll overclock it as well then! I did some searching to find a good silent/strong CPU cooler and the one I would have liked would be the Noctua NH-D14/D15 but it won't fit with my memory I'm afraid (please correct me if I'm wrong!). So I would like to buy a new CPU Cooler, one that would cool good is not too noisy and fits in my setup! My price range is about 50 to 100 euro and I'm from Holland if that matters somehow. Thanks in advance for the help!
  2. Yesterday I got the parts for my new pc and I build it. Then I plugged all cables in and started it and after 5 seconds it rebooted and did this 3 times and I had this feeling that I would look at it tomorrow so I turned it off and tried to find some stuff what it could be and i read broken mobo/gpu/memory etc lots of stuff. Then 10 minutes later I thought lets try again and it suddenly worked, it just worked. No reboots or whatever anymore. So I installed windows and it all worked. This afternoon I'll install the drivers and such and see if it gives me more problems. But my question is, should I be worried about the first time it did those reboots or is it something that just happens? and why would it work after if at first it didn't work? (I never build a PC before this is my first so I got kinda worried at first). Tried googling but only thing I could find is people whose PC didn't start after. Thanks!
  3. Hello, I am from Holland and my old pc is starting to tear a bit down. It's giving me blue screens and window resets (the screen goes black for a few seconds and then it goes back to the game) and after a while it will do it again and then my ingame windows is just gone (have to restart the game or pc to play again. It also doesn't run the newer games that well and my i5 would go up to 100 degrees without a cooler (about 80 with one) and the GPU fan doesn't want to work on 100% any more so I guess its just getting a bit old. I decided to buy a new pc and I would like to buy one that will last a while so I don't have to upgrade it for a while. I'm new to this site (I found it 2 days ago but I enjoy all the stuff thats on here) so I did some research on this forum and came up with the following: I want to use it mainly for gaming, nothing else really. I also want to look into overclocking it (something I'm new to but I'm sure I can find out how to do it). If you could look over it and advice me some stuff to buy or not or suggest me some other build that would work good, You can also use pcpartpicker if its easier so I'll just find the stuff on dutch sites. My budget is about 1500 euro's (can be more, less would be nice) and I only need the pc, no other stuff! I'm not so good with the technical stuff yet, but I'm reading a lot and watching many videos to speed up on that so I don't know exactly what kind of PSU I need or how much RAM or what GPU to buy (there were 33 different gtx 970 on this site, I'm reading it has something to do with some being OC or have different coolnig) etc. Thanks a lot for reading and helping already!
