  1. Hello All! I am having an odd issue with a few week old build and have no idea where to go. B650E-F, 7800x3d, 7900xt. Since I built this a month ago, I have been having random restarts - no blue screen, no error in Event Log on Windows. I assumed it was RAM issues, so I have been slowly loosening timings to try to dial that in today. Often, on those random restarts, it was hang on boot on the orange DRAM light. I could get it to recover by hitting the PSU switch and rebooting again, and it would then boot up normally. Today, it did that, but even upon power cycling, has stuck on the orange light and will not POST. System was indeed updated to latest BIOS. Steps taken - Clear CMOS Reseat RAM Boot with each stick of RAM Flash back BIOS to previous version Flash back BIOS to current Version Reseat CPU and Cooler (Checked and can confirm - no bent pins) I'm at a loss of where to go from here. I bought on Amazon, so I can exchange, but I would prefer to exchange only what is defective if possible. Any suggestions?
  2. Hi all! For those of you with PowerPlay, what size LTT deskpad do you use? As far as I can tell, the charge mat is between the 300mm and 400mm size, but on the photo Linus tweeted of his own setup the other day it looked pretty spot on. What size does everyone use for it, then? I was thinking 1000x400 to fit my full-size keyboard as well, but wanted to double check before purchasing.
  3. Ah, yeah. That makes sense. The lack of mesh was always a major problem with my 750D (I purchased before the Airflow Edition was available) which caused my fans to be constantly at full tilt to keep the thing cool. The only other case I have found in this price that seems like a decent option would be the BeQuiet Dark Base 700 and putting an ARGB fan in the back since I don't particularly need the RGB visible up front. I forgot to look up the GamersNexus reviews! Looking at it, he seems in agreement about the Fractal Design being... overpriced, at best. That's unfortunate, because I've always wanted to try one of their cases since I remember the early days of the WAN Show with Fractal Josh being a guest.
  4. I'm mainly concerned with a TG side panel so that I can see the internal lighting and the components, and some form of viewing RGB from the front with no preference either way with mesh / glass. Those Mastercases look VERY nice. How are CoolerMaster's chassis these days? I remember my last CM Case (an Elite 430, admittedly not a high end product at the time) was not fantastic with layout / cable managing. Also, how are they noise level wise? Thanks! EDIT: It looks like adding another ARGB fan to the H500m for the rear of the case is $18.99, bringing the whole case to $217.99. Is that $20 difference to the Fractal Design a big difference that I would be missing something by not buying it?
  5. Hi all! Building my first PC in a few years (Current Build is a 6600k / GTX 970, but have been building since 2010) because of the imminent release of Ryzen 3000. Currently have it in a Bitfenix Prodigy, but realize that I do not enjoy the small form factor PC as much as I thought I would (I hate it. So so much.), and will be looking for a larger mid-tower most likely. Prior to the Prodigy I had a build in a Corsair 750D, which I enjoyed, but now I'm looking to build my first "aesthetic" PC after years of shopping for deals while I was in school. I decided that I want to be able to have the trend of RGB / Tempered Glass in my case since I missed out on that when it became big the first time, so that's a big want for my case. I am planning on an Asus motherboard, so Aura compatibility for the RGB would be nice. This PC will be likely still be in my room in my apartment, so I would like it quiet as well if that's at all feasible. Case hunting was always my least favorite part of PC buying, so I decided to come to you guys to see if you have any advice / suggestions that I missed when looking since it can definitely be overwhelming. So far, I've seen both the Corsair 500D SE and the Define S2 Vision RGB that both definitely seem to have the features that I'm looking for. I saw the Crystal 570X, but dislike that it uses the old SP120 fans instead of the newer LL120s like the 500D SE. I would prefer to keep the budget slightly below the prices on both of those (~$230 with sales right now), but am certainly willing to do that if it's what I need to get the build quality, features, and ease of building that I'm looking for (especially since decent RGB fans for my old 750D would be ~$125 or so and still not have Tempered Glass) Any and all suggestions would certainly be appreciated since I've been out of the case shopping game since I bought the 750D at release in 2013 because I knew I wanted the Prodigy in 2015 when I decided to go mini ITX and didn't really shop around. Thanks!
  6. I meant signature, which I take to mean as uncolored. Not a base head by any means. I like these. Do you think that I will dislike the change from open to closed? Should I just stick with the open version since I'm used to those?
  7. Hi All! I have an ancient pair of Sennheiser HD500s - I've owned them since new, some time around 2002, I think. I am going off to college and need a new pair of headphones since these are starting to fall apart completely. Since I'll be in dorms, closed back are probably preferable (even though I love my open HD500s). My budget is around $150 and these will be used for gaming, movie/TV/Youtube watching, and music listening (tons of types, so preferably neutral sound quality). What would you guys recommend? Thanks!
  8. Or should I just get a 500GB 960Evo or something of that size? I realized that I included games that I don't have installed or play often in that 300GB mark, so it is really probably closer to 150GB of actual games.
  9. Perfect. Thanks, mate! This made life much easier than I thought it would be.
  10. Alright, sweet. So, I'm assuming that you also find NVMe not a worthwhile upgrade? The Crucial will save me money (and that will fund new headphones - my poor HD500s have seen much better days), so I really like that option, unless someone has any serious qualms with it.
  11. Alright, thank you so much. I've used SanDisk products in the past (since the days of CF!) and have never had an issue, but haven't ever used Crucial, so the vote of confidence in them helps a ton. I've noticed that performance of the MX300 is quite a bit lower than the 850EVO - will this be noticeable in day to day use, such as gaming?
  12. To be fair, it will be mostly games / programs. I have a rather large Steam library, and only have a few games + Windows on my 250GB. I just don't want to run out of space and continue to get frustrating out of room errors. A quick look shows that my library alone takes up 332.9GB of storage.
  13. I've only ever owned Samsung SSDs, so switching brands scares me a little. Is price / performance better? Is reliability alright? I do backups, but don't want to get burned with a lemon of a product.
  14. Hi All, I currently have a Samsung 750EVO 250GB SSD that I love, but have filled to the brim. Along with this, I have a WD Black 3TB. I want to upgrade to a 500GB or 1TB SSD so that I can put most of my stuff on the SSD (games, programs, files, etc.) and leave my HDD for long term storage and backups. Choosing an SSD seems much harder than when I chose my 750EVO - that was simply the best price / performance on the market at the time. Now, with NVMe prices coming down, choosing an SSD has become that much more difficult. The options that I'm looking at are 1.) 500GB / 1TB 850EVO or 2.) the new 960EVO 500GB / 1TB or 3.) Something completely different? I'm heading off to college, so whatever I choose needs to last me four years. My question is, what would be my best option? Price to performance is quite important to me. I do light gaming and light photoshopping as well as other school work type things. Would the NVMe (on my Gigabyte Z170N-Gaming 5 / i5 6600k / 16GB / GTX 970) drive offer a significant, noticeable improvement over the SATA 850EVO (or whatever else is recommended)? Would 500GB be enough, or should I stick with a 1TB? Thanks! Anniemoose98
  15. What do you guys think of the TJ08B-E? The size seems about right for me.
