  1. System was running fine with 1070 for a couple of years Swapped from 1070 to 2080 super to test possible bottleneck and a fan issue on 2080, System continued running fine. Swapped back to 1070, system powers up, no POST. Swapped to 2080 OC [which had been used in the past and worked] Power up, no POST. Swapped back to 2080 super, Power up, no POST. Tore whole system down to re-seat and re-connect all cables, re-built with 1070. Power up, no POST. In every instance where the system does not POST, the power button on the case also does nothing even when held. Edit: sorry if some of the specs below are a bit vague. I don't recall the exact details and with the system not booting, it makes it a bit difficult to retrieve them from the system itself. 2. Some HDD and SSD enclosures read as USB devices even though they're all Internal Drives. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't a step I was missing. So I suppose I'll just be careful with it, thnks!
  3. Recently I've taken an m.2 drive out of my motherboard and moved it to an external enclosure. It's an Intel 660p 1TB NVME. My question is when I plug into a PC [whether it's the one it originated from or a different one] it reads fine and all the contents are there, however when I want to remove the drive I don't have an option to "Remove Device" like I would would a regular USB drive. I have tried reformatting the drive now that it's in an enclosure but the behavior is unchanged. Is there a specific way I need to format this thing or am I just to unplug it when I'm done using it? And is unplugging it like that going to harm it?
  4. Well, I'll be... Didn't even consider that until you mentioned it. I was hoping to at least be able to run 1 of the M.2 slots. I suppose I wouldn't be gaining that much performance by going 16x so it'll be more beneficial to keep my SSDs installed. Thanks for the quick responses guys! ^^b
  5. Only 1 PCIe slot. M.2 slots each have an SSD, Total of 2 drives in M.2
  6. Is the test supposed to end by itself or just end it it whenever? So far it hasn't changed anything after running it for about 10 minutes. The BIOS was already set up this way when I looked just now.
  7. I see the small window with the animation moving, I'm not sure what's supposed to change.
  8. I built my PC a bit over a year ago and was aware that the GPU would be running at 8x due to the riser cable included with the case, I figured I'd get around to replacing it eventually. Well that eventually has finally come and after what feels like the 100th time tearing into this system [Originally built it for a class] I got a proper 16x riser cable installed but to my surprise GPU-Z is reporting that it's still running at 8x. I was under the impression that it would just automatically go from 8x to 16x, so I won't be surprised if there's a BIOS setting I was supposed to flip somewhere. Given that the board is Mini-ITX, I'm pretty sure the GPU is in the correct PCIe slot as well. Ryzen 7 3700x Asus ROG Strix X470-i Gigabyte 2080 Turbo OC 8g Phanteks Evolv Shift
  9. Well I had to do some running to get this sorted out. But you guys were right I did have to update the BIOS, for some odd reason the latest version didn't work [2703] so I had to go one version down from latest [2606], after which a NEW version was posted by Asus. I'm now on the latest version [2801]. In an unrelated note and if I need to post this elsewhere I'll do so. But the system isn't allowing me to allocate the full capacity of my Ironwolf 10TB drive. Additionally Asus' Aura software crashes everytime I launch it, I've tried uninstalling it and installing older versions but they all behave the same way.
  10. ....In my excitement I totally forgot to do that... @Origami Cactus 32GB
  11. Recently assembled a PC using a Ryzen 7 3700, Asus x470-I, Trident Z 3200. All the components are seemingly receiving power, fans spinning. But it won't send a signal to the monitor, tried all ports and then unplugging the GPU and still no signal. There's no beeping, QLEDs are all white/off with the exception of VGA which is yellow/green. Any ideas?
  12. Ok, I'm starting to get the picture. Her video editing is not super extensive, for the most part it's mainly nice menus and cutting out any unnecessary footage as far as I can tell, but I've only watched the finished products. She concentrates more on the pictures to be honest. As far as budget goes, she only asked for a parts list to give her an idea of how much the cost of the machine would be alone. I know she understands the sacrifices that come with having a laptop and she does most of her work from the shop anyway so a desktop workstation will be fine so long as it's not super bulky. You guys are a great help ^^b
  13. I come to you guys for advise, An aunt of mine runs her own photography business and approached me about building a PC for her to use as her current one is relatively old, I'm actually surprised she gets any work done with it. Now I've only built a pair of PCs but they've been focused on gaming so I don't know if I should be approaching this the same way, I actually don't think she needs that much horsepower but at the same time I have never used photo editing software, I should also mention she does some video editing as well [i guess recording weddings is still a thing.] Would she be better off with a pre-built system? thoughts, ideas?
  14. How can I tell which generation is it? I want to say it's 1st since I got it shortly after they started rolling out. I remember I had the guy at the store drive to the next city to get the one I wanted as payback for talking me into the edge program which I really didn't want to be a part of and I feel cheated since phones only got bigger and reduced my choices now that my upgrade is available... sorry about the rant...
  15. Originally I wanted a Nexus 5 but it was not available through Verizon so I chose the next best thing and ended up with the Moto X. They do carry the Nexus 6, is that any better in comparison?
