  1. Hi, Currently shopping for a new laptop for back to school, I have about give or take 1k$CAD (750$ USD) to spend on it. I also need to replace my graphic card in my Tower PC (i7-6700 with GTX 970), so I could also merge both budget for a good laptop. While I can be satisfied with 45-60 fps, I am wondering if I should put a bit more and go with discreet GPU. I am just starting to look up and found those that would fit my needs : - Dell Inspiron 16 with i5-1335U (Iris Xe Graphics) at 800$ - Dell G15 with i5-13450HX (RTX 4050) at 1 200$ Only requirement is i5 or ryzen 5 or more and 16go of RAM. Battery life isn't a concern, but would be nice to be off the wall while doing homework or watching Youtube. I usually play e-sport title or some relaxed games like American Truck Simulator or Farming Simulator. Are Integrated GPU performance now enough for light gaming?
  2. Hi guys, I work in accounting and sometimes we have to go on site with multiple people (2 sometimes 3) and need to share a folder with all of our work file. Usually we dont have WiFi or poor WiFi at those places. I remember seeing like USB keys that you could access over wifi. Is there a plug and play solution to access the same file (like a NAS)?
  3. I feel this is mainly for accessing 1 remote computer? Like if the business need to access their own computer, but I want more a Help Desk solution
  4. Hi guys, I work in an accountant office and we sometimes need to log into our clients computers just to see what they are doing in the software or just to help them get the things we need. We are currently using TeamViewer and AnyDesk but we are looking for something else just to see what is in the market. - Price isn't a problem but cheaper is better - Always 1:1 connection - No need for multiple account - Always someone in front of the other computer - A connection link thru a personalized launcher or our website is a plus Thanks!
  5. So I just started to mine some Bitcoin using NiceHash with my 970 which is just chilling in the corner. It << pays >> ok at about 1.60$CAD a day and I don't pay for electricity. Is Bitcoin or Ethereum the most profitable with a 970? Or what software should I use, since NiceHash take about 3% of my mining. I don't expect to become rich with the mining, I just want to use my sleeping hardware.
  6. Hi guys, I am looking for a new mouse for my daily operations. I currently have a MX Performance which have served me well for 4 years now. I was looking at the MX Master and the Anker Vertical Mouse, but I was wondering if there is other options. My only need is that the mouse is wireless and the mouse will be used for accounting jobs.
  7. Look like the problem come from my router, with the Linksys software that come with a speed test, i saw that the router only get 2 to 3 mbps.
  8. I am about 10 feet from the Router. There is about 12 clients on it, mostly TV and DVD player or demo laptop not doing anything
  9. At my job we have a Wireless network, which I am the one who take care of it (Changing password, changing names, etc). I was having trouble with charging a YouTube video so I did a SpeedTest on a wired PC and on my cellphone. Turned out the wired connection would get about 20mbps and my cellphone only 0.1mbps I tried Wifi Analyser and switched my wirelless to another channel and I get about 1.5mbps What should I do next to get a better speed?
  10. Hey Guys, I just got 2 new Asus 24 inch 1080p 60hz monitor, i was about to plug them in when i saw that they only have VGA, DVI and HDMI as connector. But my gtx 970 only as 1 hdmi, 3 dvi and 1 DVI. What would be the best way to plug in the monitors? I would prefer HDMI as I would be able to use my hdmi switch pluged in my laptop. I was thinking of using a dp to hdmi cable and a hdmi cable. Or should i use 2 dp to hdmi? And is there any advantage of using a dp to hdmi cable over a DP to hdmi adapter (one that you need your own hdmi cable)
  11. Since I don't have many user having to access the storage, would I lost a lot by using my current desktop as NAS box and a gaming PC? I've got : i7 6700 16Gb of RAM Asus Z170-A 500Gb SSD and 3Tb Seagate HDD GTX 970 Case : Z9 neo I would add 1 or 2 120Gb SSD (one for FreeNAS/unRAID and one for Cache) and some 2 or 3 NAS drive. Would I lost a lot of internet speed? About 95% of the time if I am gaming no one would access the NAS
  12. I was thinking about putting 200 just for the Hardware (not including Hard Drive). I think I have an old box at home that will only need some RAM upgrade and a PCI RAID Card (or just something to plug SATA drive). What is the best drive configurration? I was thinking about RAID 5 but I am not 100% sure
  13. Hi, currently I have a 3Tb external hard drive from Seagate which is about 2 to 3 years old. I am planning to change it soon because it hold amost 2.5TB of data. Right now, the drive is hooked up on my desktop and is share thru Windows Folder Share and PS3 Media Server (when I want to watch some of my picture on my PS3) and this solution had been working great since I have it. I have a couple of option and I want to have your opinion on it. * DIY Nas from an old computer and upgrading the server down the road * Store bought NAS such as Synology * Another External Hard Drive (like a 5Tb Seagate one) * External Drive enclosure (like a MediaSonic HF2-SU2S2) I would like to upgrade down the road, I dont fear playing arround FreeNAS or any other NAS os. as of right now 4 or 5TB of data are wanted but in the future I would like to upgrade to 10TB. Most of the important data store on this solution will be saved on Desktop as well on Google Drive or OneDrive.
  14. I finnaly made my choice and bought everything I went with: i7 6700 (I didn't really need the overclock power, making me save 50$ and saving on the cooler, but I plan on changing it for an aftermarket during the black friday) 16 Go of DDR4 2400 from G Skill Asus Z170-A motherboard 3Tb of Seagate 7,200 RPM 480Gb of Patriot SSD GeForce 970 WindForce (I wanted more The Division than Hitman and got it cheaper than a 390) Zalman Z9 neo Black Thermaltake TR2 600W Came down to 1600$ minus the Mail in rebate (About 50$)
  15. For the graphic card, I'm gonna check, the first one to drop might win I don't plan on spending this much on a case unless I can find a good deal on an H440 or a 400C For the hard drive, i'm looking at a bundle from Newegg that got a 2TB in it. I put that one because its 10$ more than a 2TB and I was thinking about formatting it in ext4 not NTFS as I will have a Ubuntu or a Arch Linux third hard drive.
