Decided to turn off Hybrid Mode in Lenovo Vantage, and haven't had any problems since last Friday. Only downside is the battery life is laughably bad now, but I'm pretty much only using it plugged in right now anyways. I wouldn't consider this a permanent solution for people on the go, but I'll mark this as solved anyways. Thanks for the help!

I think I may have found a solution (at least for now)! I set a custom scale factor in windows display settings to 100%, and so far it has stayed there. Windows still thinks I'm using 2 displays though, but for all I know that could be normal. I'll mark this as solved in a couple of days if the problems don't come back. EDIT: Never mind, this only worked for Minecraft. Witcher 3 launches minimized now and refuses to maximize. EDIT 2: I rolled back the 3060's drivers in device manager, and Witcher now launches with no problems. I think I may have messed something up when I installed the drivers. I'll report back if anything changes. EDIT 3: I decided to do a fresh install of Windows to remove everything I'd done since getting the laptop. Games that utilize the dedicated graphics still rescale everything, but I think this might have something to do with how Hybrid Mode in Lenovo Vantage works. It's trying to balance the GPU usage to preserve battery life by switching between the dedicated and integrated graphics depending on what application is being run, but this means that the display settings are changed every time the dedicated graphics are used. I guess I should either disable Hybrid Mode, which seems to disable the integrated graphics, or contact Lenovo and ask if this is something that I can fix.

I got my new Lenovo Legion 5 (2021) laptop today, but I'm having some problems with certain applications. Every time I launch Witcher 3, it changes the scaling in the display settings to 150%, and it thinks that I have 2 displays. At one point I was also unable to maximize the game after minimizing it. It seems like this problem occurs when the laptop switches to using the RTX 3060 instead of the integrated AMD graphics, as it's currently set to "Automatic Select" in "Manage Display mode" in the NVIDIA control panel, and I get a notification saying that it switched. If I run the game in windowed borderless, the entire window is too big to fit the screen and not at all centered. I should also note that if I turn on "Hybrid Mode" in Lenovo Vantage, doing stuff on the laptop is smoother, but the integrated graphics completely disappear from both task manager and device manager. Here's my laptop's specs: Model: Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 16 GB 3200MHz RAM Geforce RTX 3060 15,6" 1080p IPS 1 TB M.2 SSD Windows 10 Home Any and all advice is very much appreciated! EDIT: Weird scaling issues also occur when I launch Minecraft Windows 10 edition.

Problem: I've been troubleshooting for a couple of hours now, but I can't seem to find any solution to my problems. There's some weird flashing/shimmering going on with the reflections in the game that are very distracting. I've included a video where you can see the problem + what settings I'm using (settings at 1:12). The problem is especially apparent from 0:46 and onwards. I should also add that my character's eyes go crazy whenever I load up the game and get to the main menu (eyes at 0:06). Specs: OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Gaming X RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 16GB MOBO: ROG Strix B450-F gaming PSU: Corsair RM750x Monitor: LG 27GL850 (main) in 1440p with G-Sync on, and BenQ XL2411t (second monitor in portrait). Game is saved on a Corsair Force Series MP510 1TB M.2 SSD. I've updated all of the drivers. I tested the issue without the slight overclocks I had applied to the GPU, but there was no difference. Same goes for switching to DirectX 12. Any advice would be highly appreciated! EDIT : Recorded a shorter video in higher quality. In this example the shimmering is happening on the gun, especially on the part that's projecting the dot for the sight.

That's good to hear! I guess there's nothing wrong after all. After getting some sleep, I got up and checked to see if all the fans in the case were working. It appeared that one of the front fans weren't working, and it turned out that the connector just wasn't plugged in all the way. After getting that fan to work, I also installed the fan from my old liquid cooler in the back of the case to draw air out the back. The idle temp has now gone all the way down to 40-ish, though it's still jumping up and down whenever the CPU boosts up to 4,3 GHz. But I guess that's normal. Thank you all for the help! I'll give you an update once I've given that "Cool'n'Quiet" feature a shot.

That's actually the cooler that I wanted to get, but my budget didn't allow it at the time. I'll definitely try that one out when I have the dough. I've never heard about "Cool'n'Quiet", but I'll give it a shot! Thanks for the help :)|

I've not checked that yet. It seems like I'll need to apply new thermal paste if I choose to remove the cooler, which I don't have at the moment. I might be wrong though.

I thought that maybe could be the case. When buying the new parts, I didn't think the stock cooler would actually get that hot, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The fan is also really loud when the temp jumps up. Do you have any recommendations for a replacement? I think I'd prefer an air cooler over liquid cooling.

I just finished building my new computer, and everything seemed like it was in order. I installed HWMonitor just to make sure that the CPU wasn't running too hot, and I noticed that the temps are higher than what seems to be normal. I checked the BIOS first when testing to see if the computer would post, and there it stayed idle at 51 degrees Celsius. In HWMonitor I'm now seeing it jump between 45 and 60 degrees at idle. I ran the computer through 3D Mark Time Spy to check if it was too hot under load too. There it peaked at around 88 degrees. I don't know about you, but I feel like these temps are too high. Should I remove the CPU cooler, wipe off the paste and apply some new? Here are my specs: MOBA: Asus rog strix b450-f gaming CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x (with stock cooler, using the thermal paste that was already on the cooler) RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200mhz 16gb GPU: Msi Geforce GTX 1070 gaming x PSU: Corsair RM750x EDIT: I should probably also mention that it reached 78 degrees while installing new graphics drivers.

The only thing that remains to be decided is which motherboard I want. I'm a little torn between the Gigabyte Aorus Elite and the Asus Prime X570 Pro. They are both at the same price right now because the Asus mobo has a discount.

I can't find the Gaming Pro Carbon AC with AM4 socket, and the Crosshair 6 Hero is more expensive than the one I listed. I really think that the motherboard I listed is the one I need considering what is available in Norwegian stores. I want to be absolutely sure that I'll have enough power for the future. I might upgrade to a dual gpu setup in the future if that's necessary. I think I'll need at least 650W, however I do agree that 850W might be a bit overkill.

If I replace the 2x16 chips with 2x8 chips instead, I'll have enough money to buy a Corsair RM850x. Considering the fact that the PSU is 7 years old, I think this might be a better idea.

The X470 seems to be a bit iffy to get hold of in Norway, at least for a reasonable prize. The one I listed costs the same in Norway. Can't really seem to find the X370 C6H either.

I'm not sure. I was going with 16gb first, but my friend said that I should go for 32gb for the future. Might be smart since I'm going to use a lot of plugins to produce music, but I'm not sure. Do you have any other suggestions when it comes to the motherboard? I need support for the Ryzen processor, PCIe M.2 ssd, fast ethernet, enough USB-ports (at least 7 ports), DDR4 memory and the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming x.

I'm planning on upgrading my old rig into something that'll be future proof for the years to come. I bought the parts and built the computer in 2012, and I replaced the graphics ca. 2016. I want my rig to be able to run most games on ultra settings with a minimum of 60 fps on a 1080p 144hz monitor, and I also want to produce music on it. However, I'm not sure whether there will be enough space in the case and whether it's smart to keep using the old psu. I'm also a little out of touch when it comes to what is good nowadays. I'm not sure whether he really needs that cooler now that I've changed the processor. Might consider changing it with the one you suggested. I also took a look at the i7 8700 and decided that it is plenty fast enough for what he needs without having to overclock. I still don't think he needs a really big SSD, so I kept the original one. EDIT: I just remembered that the i7 8700 doesn't support 3000MHz memory, so we'll need to change that too. I'm not sure yet. I'm the one making the decisions for him right now because he has no clue about anything regarding computer parts and overclocking and etc. I think it's nice to have the opportunity to overclock in case he wants to use his computer for gaming or if he wants to do any rendering stuff. The computer might require that extra boost in GHz if he's going to use a lot of plugins when making music. I know that a lot of those plugins and programs require quite a lot of processing power and memory. We'll have to see whether he's willing to spend the extra money for the opportunity to overclock or not.

That's exactly why I chose that specific cooler and that motherboard. But you have a good point regarding fast storage. I'm not sure how much space he is going to need, but I'm assuming that a musician would require quite a lot of space for plugins, music programs and all of the sound files and tracks. My plan was to install windows on his SSD and use the HDD to store everything else, but as you're saying; having a big SSD might be a better solution.

Thanks for the advise! I think I'm sticking with the K edition processor because it's nice to have the opportunity to overclock, and there's only about a 20$ price difference. I do agree that the case is a little bit too big, and I'll ask whether he wants a window or not. I'll also take a look at that cooler even though he said he wasn't too concerned about noise as long as it's not extremely loud. I'll ask him whether he can afford a bigger SSD or not. I didn't know that CPU coolers come with pre-applied compound, I'll remove that right away! I'm wondering about that motherboard though; it doesn't appear to support 3000MHz memory, but I could be completely wrong of course.
