  1. Hey everyone. Currently looking for a high-quality microphone stand, and having some trouble deciding on what to get, as I'm a beginner. Looking for something that can crane overhead from behind a couch and drop down to just above my head. (Like the Game Grumps if anyone knows who they are.) Need to be able to hold a heavy microphone like the Blue Yeti Pro. I've heard some will droop over time, and that's hard to know if a stand will do that before actually buying it. I was looking at this one, but I'm not sure if I trust the wheels to properly lock. I know I can just Google it, but I would appreciate any audio professionals if they could advise which ones look good vs which ones actually are good. Ideally around $100, but if I could get a couple different price ranges I would greatly appreciate it.
  2. Hey guys, I'm looking for a pretty specific type of motherboard, and Newegg's search engine isn't the best (sometimes boards get excluded even though they fit the search times fine, and sometimes vice versa), so I thought I'd post here. Trying to find a motherboard with the following specifications: -Z270, ATX or MicroATX either all black/gray or black/gray and green. -6 or so USB 3.0 at least, and at least one type C. Bonus points if they are all 3.1 gen 2. Dunno how USB bandwidth works so dunno if that's even possible. I would much prefer if the USB ports were their actual standardized colors. I.E. no red USB ports ideally, but if its my only option I'll take it. -Front panel USB 3.1 gen 2 connector(s), both type A and C. -Ideally 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort. Does not need DVI, I won't even look at it if it has VGA. -4 RAM slots, DDR4. -RGB strip connector would be nice, does not need to have it though. -At least 7.1 audio, ideally. Front panel audio currently has a small sizzling in my headphones, this board needs to not do that. I use both front and back, so I can't just plug into the back like some people suggest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.~
  3. Awesome. Thanks so much man, you've been a lot of help. ^-^ I think that's all my questions, but if I think of more I'll ask. All I really gotta do is plug it in and see if it actually is worse like someone said might be a possibility. But if so I can just return it and continue using USB mode on the mic.
  4. Can I also plug my headphones into a port on these to get more power/cleaner sound from them? Or do I need an additional, separate DAC?
  5. Pretty much exactly what you said. My fiancé and I want to start a few YouTube channels, and I'm just trying to get the highest quality audio possible. We're eventually going to add a second Blue Yeti Pro, so I need to be able to record at least two inputs at once. We do plan on live streaming occasionally, so on-the-spot tweaking would be useful unless I can do it equally as well in software. I know this is all way overkill for YouTube, but I'm a wannabe enthusiast and want to get the best of the best right off the bat for my budget. We want to be able to record gameplay audio, as well as both of our voices, as well as possibly a facecam, each at the highest bitrate/quality we can. So far all I'm doing is plugging the Yeti Pro and a Razer Ripsaw into my desktop and capturing both with OBS.
  6. At the moment I have a Blue Yeti Pro that I'm using in USB mode, but want to use it in XLR mode for the higher quality. Been told I need to plug that into one of these, then plug that into my desktop for YouTube recording and livestreaming via USB. (Though wouldn't the USB connection just undo all the clarity the XLR originally provides?) Do both models also have a built in compressor? I'm just trying to not have 4 different boxes on my desk so trying to combine as many as possible into a single box. EDIT: Not sure why the 2's are there, not letting me backspace them.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm looking for something that is a Dac, Pre(amp), XLR input, compressor, etc. all combined into as few devices as possible. Everything that has to do with headphones or microphones. But don't know how any of those work. ADD prevents me from reading huge pages on how everything works, but I did read the pinned topics on the audio section of the forum. So far I'm looking at the following: https://www.amazon.com/Mackie-Mix-Mix8-8-Channel-Mixer/dp/B00ND1KGEI https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-1002-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B000J5WB4E https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-1002FX-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B000J5SYPY https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-1202FX-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B000J5Y214 https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Q1202USB-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B00CTKI45M https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Q802USB-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B008O517IC As a bonus, someone linked this: https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B01E6T56EA is that considered garbage? Like is that technology already built-into the more expensive ones? I'm assuming so. Which of those would be the best? Or can you guys recommend anything better? If so it would have to have a minimum of 2 mic inputs, but more would be nice. Around $100 or less. Must be powered. And what's the difference between the FX and the USB versions? And it looks like the only difference between the 1002 and 1002FX is the more inputs, but I just want to be sure.
  8. Hey guys. I'm getting very close to starting my YouTube channel, and I need some tips and advice. I have both OBS Studio and Audacity installed, but I was wondering, since OBS can already record my microphone's audio, what is the point in Audacity? Should I be recording audio with both, or just the video with OBS? What are the dis/advantages of either? Also, what are the optimal settings of both to get the highest possible quality of video and audio? I have a Blue Yeti Pro, if that matters, though I'm not using the XLR input yet (still gotta get the thing it plugs into, which is another topic entirely because I don't know a single thing about those). Also, what format should I save the video as? MP4? Mov? FLV? I don't know what most of the settings in either program mean so the more details provided the better. Explain like I'm 5 please. ^-^
  9. I really have no idea what I'm doing. I have everything plugged in correctly with my Ripsaw, but I have no idea how to make that card do all the recording. And in OBS, it says signal out of range sometimes, but after I experimented changing some settings I don't remember, it just shows my desktop in OBS even though I have a game running? I'm completely clueless. Gonna try calling Razer when they open next and see if I get someone there to take over my computer and walk me through the process. There's also the issue that my system thinks the Ripsaw is a second display, so that my mouse will go off the edge on one side.
  10. Hey peeps. So I got quite a few things I need help with. My fiancé and I are about to start a gaming YouTube channel, but both of us have difficulty learning several things all at once by Googling dozens of websites that all only partially answer the question, and also have hard times wording things, hence why this is going to be rather awkward. Watched this, and I didn't get anything out of it. Hoping someone can walk me step-by-step in layman's terms. I have a very poor attention span due to several disorders, so I can't just watch an hour-long video answering these all. I know this seems silly, and I know I could probably get these all answered with Googling, but for reasons I can't really explain, it would be a lot easier for my brain if I had control over what I was told to do. Right now, I have a Blue Yeti Pro, and a Razer Ripsaw capture card that I have no clue how to use yet. 1.) What exactly does XLR as opposed to just using USB? (Why is the quality better?) 2.) How do I use the XLR option on my microphone? I get that I have to buy an audio interface, but that's about all I got out of that video. 3.) What are some good audio interfaces for various budget ranges? 4.) How do I record said audio? 5.) Do I have to use two separate programs/hardware devices to record gameplay and audio, or can I use one thing that does both? Would it be easier for me, in the end, to record them separately or together? 6.) If they do have to be recorded separately, how do I combine both after editing to upload to YouTube? 7.) If any of you have compared several audio and/or video recording softwares personally, can I please get a pro/con list or opinions of them? 8) Is an audio interface the same as a mixer? If not, what is a mixer? 9.) What are some good mixers for various budget ranges? 10.) How do I connect capture card, microphone, audio interface, mixer, etc., all together, then to my PC and capture it all, if it's not obvious? 11.) After all that, how do I add facecam into the mix? Is it just a matter of bringing OBS into the pile and recording my camera from there? Thank you so kindly in advance for helping me with my ridiculous levels of ignorance.
  11. Just ended up buying a new mobo, and that solved it. Thanks everyone for the help regardless, and apologies for the late reply.
  12. Tried both with the CPU in, and CPU out, same result each time. About to just buy a new mobo, Gigabyte is not getting back to me.
  13. Took everything out, including the board from the case. All I have is the power supply, which is plugged into the motherboard, both outside the case. Same problem, no progress at all, no beeps either.
  14. Even though it was working fine for over a year until recently?
