Yeah, I actually got an open box 1080 EVGA SC for 490 including tax. With Destiny 2 and a 30 MIR, it puts me around 400$ so I think I made out pretty well
-
Got an EVGA SC 1080 from Microcenter today for 490$. It has a 30$ M.I.R. and comes with Destiny 2. So all in, it works out to like a 400$ card since I was gonna buy Destiny on launch anyways.
-
I'm honestly gonna go with a 1080 because Destiny 2 is a game I would have bought anyway on launch so that right that pretty much evens out the prices. The Zotac one is looking nice right now
-
And that makes more sense than a reference blower to throw the heat out the back?
-
Any suggestion on which one? I know the Zotac Amp is popular right now

So I just recently sold my GTX 970 which was cooled via NZXT's Kraken G10 and a 120mm radiator. I am currently looking to get either an EVGA Hybrid FTW 1070, an air-cooled 1080, or and air cooled 1070 if the price is good and water-cool it possibly in the future. Temperature-wise, the basement of the NZXT Manta makes aftermarket cooled cards starved for air. Ideally I would just throw an Asus Strix 1070 in there, but pricing for 1070s right now are terrible. Looking at buying a 1070 for nearly 480$ when I can buy a 1080 for around 520$ with Destiny 2 seems absurd. Does anyone have a Manta or similar issue with a small build and have any suggestions? The max I am willing to spend on a GPU is around 600$. Ideally I would like to keep that closer to 500. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, I might just deal with the temps till I decide to throw it under water with this card. Too good of a price to pass up on. http://www.microcenter.com/product/466641/GeForce_GTX_1080_AMP_Edition_8GB_GDDR5X_PCIe_Video_Card

So I am selling my watercooled gtx 970 and upgrading to a 1070 or 1080. I imagine the best style card to get would be a reference blower design to just exhaust the air. But I was wondering if anyone has experience with an aftermarket cooler in their Manta or other restrictive case and can talk about the impact the tight spaces have on temps. I will probably get an AIO and Kraken G12 in the future to watercool it but I was wondering what the best option would be without water cooling as a consideration. Thanks.

Are you able to somehow keep the backplate from the reference Nvidia GTX 970 if you install the Corsair HG10? I'm looking at upgrading GPUs and figured why not look into just buying the cooling bracket for the 970 I have cause I have a spare H100i. Thanks for your help.

Of all the people who get to go to CES as presenters, my mom got me an extra pass to go. Definitely the best present I got this Christmas, but I was wondering if anyone else in this community was going or has gone in the past. If so, have any tips on how to get the most out of it?

Every year I look for a cool, unique and useful gift for my family, however, they never seem willing to try something too "difficult". I think they would love the simplicity and ease of use from the Amazon Echo and use it often. I am there go to person for technology issues, however I live at college 8 months of the year, so something like Amazon Echo could help because they could just talk to it. The speaker function would be a great addition to their parties because my parents seem to love only playing the same 3 CDs every time they have people over. Being a college kid, I'd love to buy them an Amazon Echo, however, I am a little strapped for cash so when I saw this contest I figured I'd give it a shot. Luckily, the Echo is well under the 300$ limit for this contest. Merry Christmas all, and good luck to everyone that enters. -Derek http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-SK705DI-Echo/dp/B00X4WHP5E

Oh, sadly they are not PWM. I think Pwm would be the ideal fans for my mobo's headers for better fan curves
