Lenovo thinkstation won't work with GTX 1650
JJakaJonas replied to JJakaJonas's topic in Troubleshooting
I don't know what exactly did the fix. But here we are. My machine is now up and running with the GTX 1650 card... My steps are as follows. I cleaned the PCIe port and reseeded the card and also cleaned the CPU socket and reseeded the CPU with fresh thermal paste to the cooler. Then I install windows 8.1 to reflash the BIOS (UEFI only start.) That failed I think. Then I installed windows 7 (CSM mode) and made it fully up to date and flash the BIOS with success. But the card did stil not work. I then tried to flash the BIOS from boot. But I could not figure it out. So then I tried to recover the BIOS via jumpers on pins on the motherboard. That only have me 2 short beeb sounds so that was a fail to. After I reconfigured the CMOS jumpers to the normal configuration did the BIOS pop up with a configuration error. I opened the configuration, saved it, booted and all was okay. I then made a shutdown and swapped to the GTX card and then it just booted up with the card... So after all the tinkering over the last 2-3 weeks is it now working again. -

I have now tried to install windows 8.1 (did not have a 7 install at hand) and made a bios update. All went as it should. After the update was completed and first boot after was made i shut it down, swapped the graphics card to the GTX 1650 and the problem is still there. All I get is this image and not matter what it won't go further. -

That is correct. I have tried to boot in to Linux but no matter what I do it won't go past the post screen. So more likely theres a hardware problem. I tested the power delivery with a multimeter and in the card. I also tried to swap it with a known good PSU with same result. But I have planned to make a new windows 7 install (the original OS for the machine) and do a new BIOS update to see if that works. -

The bios is fully updated and it all worked perfectly before the update. It was after a windows update it all went south and it freeze at the lenove "press enter to something startup" post image. I have just testet with another random AMD card that need auxiliary power. It won't boot. But a card without auxiliary power boots just fine. A have testet the power delivery to the PCIe card and it measure 12 volt.. So I can't find anything that should be the problem. -

Yeah. It freeze every time on every of the 3 ports on it. I have even tried to swap the PSU on them with the same result. -
Hello all. I have 2 (almost) identical Lenovo thinkstations. The thing is that I have one that I use as I NAS. But for some time ago did I try to update the windows 11 that came with the original SSD that came with the system. All whent fine with the system update. And after a shutdown and a SSD swap it all went south... It won't boot. Like not at all. All I got was a black screen... After some tinkering I discovered that 2 of the ram slots was out of order. I toke those 2 DIMMS out and now it starts and show me the LENOVO post picture and freeze. Today I cleaned the CPU socket, ram slots and PCI EXPRESS port with som electrical cleaner and it have been sitting with no power and no CMOS battery for days and now I got the ram slots to work. But nothing new on the graphics card... But here's the kicker... If I take the graphics card and put it in the other machine it works fine. And if I take some random office grade graphics card and put it in the "dead" machine it boots just fine.... I'm lost of ideas on how to get the graphics card to work. Maybe some here on the forum have some ideas on have to get it to work?

transcoding graphics card recommendations needed
JJakaJonas replied to JJakaJonas's topic in Graphics Cards
I have tried to search on Google and found a bunch of sites but I didn't quite understand what the different things was and what they ment. But thanks for clearing it up and explain it a bit. I will instead go for a 1050 or there around and try that out. -
Hello all. I'm working on a NAS where I run jellyfin and wanted to ad hw transcoding to my setup. The short story is that I have made my NAS using a Lenovo thinkstation S30 platform. I have plans of upgrade it to a xeon e5-2697 v2 and keep my 8x4GB RDIMMs in. The highest card rated for my box is a Quadro k6000. There's 2 6-pin power cables in the machine and the card I have been looking at have a support bracket there fits my machine. And it runs ECC memory. The thing is... Is that a good card for transcoding or is it just waste of money? I have added a list of rated cards for the machine and hope one of them on the list will be useable if the k6000 don't work to the purpose.

I know those parts and are looking at the exploits too.. but i need special cables for that. but the main problem right now is finding a IDE software where i can open and work on the source code..

Do to personal matter do i not have this machine any more and therefor not able to build on it any more. i have tryed to get it back for 2 years but i give up on it now and drops the project...

Hello all... I have found a Samsung SMT-H3126 PVR set top box in the old bunk of junk i have laing around in my apartment. i did a quick search on the famous new thing called tha' internet.. on there i found google... and boy.... do that dude know it all Well... google told me that my set top box is running a linux based system and on top on that.. it got me the source codes for the box. The source code can be found here: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/telecommunication-systems/resource/opensource/cable-set-top-box.html And the specific code for my box is the fourth from the top of the list. The thing is now that i know nothing about working with this type of things... So... i got my hands on the source codes and placed them on my home server for now. Next is the IDE software and compiler.. and this is where it gets tricky. I have ask the almity google dude about it and theres no clear answer to work whit.. So i thort i would ask here. My daily work machine at the time is an old MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.9.3.. I also have a user account on GitHub if it helps in my project. Do any one know what i need to get further in my project and get a way to work whit the codes??

Time is not a problem for me atm.. I have much time to kill and not much to do so i pick up some projects to work on.. I already work with PolyBoard but thats more for cabins and such.. But i will look at Solidworks and see how it works for me.
