  1. UPDATE: I ended up getting a Crucial MX500 4TB since it was on sale. It has DRAM cashe. The other option was from a newer brand that I have never heard of before called Leven that didn't have DRAM for their 4TB drive. I didn't lose a single byte of data off of my old HDD after sacrificing another just like it and cloned it to the new SSD. Yet, It seems my old drive is still useable somehow! It was my first attempt to do my own data recovery and somehow I didn't f**k it up!
  2. Sounds like I'd be fine without DRAM since games, storage, and a few installs would be the primary use of the new drive. I'm running a Intel 660p 2tb as my boot drive, so I'm good on not booting from a DRAMless drive.
  3. Oh? Yeah, not ideal since I have Adobe Products usually installed on my storage drive. Adobe is a massive RAM hog regardless of program.
  4. As the title suggests, my 3TB WD Red drive kicked the bucket. So I am currently in the market for a new drive that's a SSD. I mostly used my old drive for storing my Steam library, video/audio assets, and a few random installs of programs. I have a vague understanding on how DRAM works and I'm wondering if I use a SSD as I did my old drive would it be best to have DRAM Cashe or I could go without. Once I recover most of my data, of course I'll need a new drive to put it on. But again, to DRAM or not to DRAM or maybe I could go HDD again? I don't need fast storage, just not painfully slow.
  5. I want to repurpose an old Dell 8400 Deminsion for a pfSense router. However, it doesn't have the traditional mounting holes for your average 775 socket. I tried one of my spare 1336 conversion kits from my Asus Rampage Extreme 4, it lacks the right length and barely enough width. I also tried on a whim a mounting bracket from a H100i, it had the right length, but it was too long in width. I'm hoping an amd replacement mounting kit could work. Also I came across the Cooler Master GeminII S524 Ver 2 which might be the answer of my payers due to it's great mounting options and cooling. I'm open to suggestions, and I'm hoping to save this relic for good use.
  6. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Titan X from my old R9 280. I need to know what to expect for such an upgrade. I know that my psu can handle a Titan X, since its a Cougar CMX 1000w 80+ Bronze psu. But in terms of mobo, I've been rolling with an ASUS Rampage Extreme 4, an excellent board, just very touchy (I killed one already oops). As for my cpu, its a Core i7 4820k 3.7Ghz slightly overclocked to 4.2Ghz. Even though RAM is a non-factor to my knowledge, I'm running a 32gb PNY kit at 1600Mhz. I've been think of upgrading for two reasons. One, I think if I have a Titan X, I'll be set for quite some time even if I upgrade to a x99 platform. And two, I'm building my sister an AMD rig and I know that my current videocard would be perfect for what she does (GTA5, Rocket League, and daily use). I hope I find what I'm looking for here! P.S. The PowerCooler R9 280 is a damn good card that runs in the price range of $200-$220ish. At stock it nearly runs at 60fps at 1080p at pretty high setting on GTA5. I recommend it. It's no skerb!
  7. Most? That's kind of helpful. Ok, what ones? Preferably 1tb??? I'm currently eyeing the Samsung 850 EVO and the Crucial MX200.
  8. Hello, I'm thinking about upgrading my laptop to an SSD and I needing to know how or what program I can use to transfer my boot drive (and everthing else) with. Nevermind telling me what brand of SSD to get or the run-on sentence above (lol). I just need to know before I buy.
