but what if i set up the same timings and stuff because its a dell pc with dual channel motherboard and in the description it says dual channel?

i was wondering whether 1x8 and 1x4 gb ram could work in dual channel?

thanks guys your inputs really helped ive decided to get an i5 4590 from this place i had no clue about. its called microcenter and its a really crazy price. 200 bucks for the cpu with a good mobo. its not that far from here and overall i think it will be worth it as its not that much more expenisve then an i3 or fx with an expenisve mobo and cooler thanks guys!!

hmm so your saying the fx 6300 overclocked is better in gaming? is it a noticeable difference? thanks for replying(also which i3 do you reccomend sir?) sorry im 16 and building my first pc as my birthday gift(cool sweet 16 lol) and im new to all this

or should i get a fx 6300 and overclock it. All i do is game and some youtube watching, I play leauge of legends battlefield farcry and gta. will this give me good settings, i have 8 gb ram hyper 212 cooler and the gpu is msi r9 280 oc.
