  1. How do you guys like the bios? I've seen some things that make it a bit of a pain.
  2. So I can get these two boards, the Asrock X370 Taichi or the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon for the exact same price and I can't seem to get a definite on which one has the better power phases etc. I'll be overclocking the 1700 to 3.6ghz/3.7 probably (Yes I have a water cooler and a gold rated PSU) I use the computer for photo editing, video editing and playing a few games every now and then. Cheers, RP
  3. Yep i reseated the heatsink and reapplied thermal compound, bios is updated. I have no idea what the hell is going on but lowering the volts and setting the multiplier to have it at 4.3ghz instead of stock makes it run properly and at a very cool 20-40 (40 max). It just doesn't make sense.
  4. It was idling at the said temps pre Prime 95 run and I will dust off my radiator etc again now. How do I know if that's whats happening? It probably was and the cooler is working properly.
  5. Hey guys, I overclocked my FX-8350 to 4.3ghz. It was running pretty good with 30-40 degrees idle and 60 degrees max under load. (Was running about 30 degrees idle and 60ish on default volts and other stuff too) So I ran a Prime 95 test for around 10 hours and there were no problems. I turned the PC off and went shopping. I got home and turned it on to do some photo editing. It wouldn't start, it'd start up stop start up stop etc etc. Then the Corsair H110i i use as the cooler turned into a jet engine and the failed to boot screen came up. I entered the bios and just decided to load optimized defaults. From there the CPU is now idling at 60 - 70 degrees??? AT STOCK BIOS SETTINGS. What?? The CPU cooler is pushing out some pretty hot air and at one point it just turned off. After starting it back up it's idling at the same 60-70 degrees and then it started thermal throttling to 1.4ghz, at 1.4ghz it sat at around 20-30 degrees idle and when i tried running a game it just shot up to 80 and shut down. I really can't afford the repairs as I'm a photographer and money is fairly tight. Here are the specs CPU: AMD FX-8350 GPU: R9 280X Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-D3P RAM: 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 PSU: CM V750 Gold CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i Case: Zalman Z11+ Cheers.
  6. So pretty much I've given up on trying to overclocking because it simply won't start with any clock or any voltage changes so i've set it at defaults. But on DEFAULT it's now running at 1.4ghz and keeps throttling to that and when it tries to go back to 4ghz it shoots back up to around 60-70 degrees. WTF? Have i fried it or something?
  7. PC is very clean and I changed the compound 2/3 months ago when said cooler was attached. Plus problem only started tonight when I overclocked it for the first time.
  8. A few months, say 2 or 3? I've already reset the CMOS twice. Still not working so i am actually suspecting that may be the case.
  9. Hey guys so first off here are my specs to get it out of the way. CPU: AMD FX-8350 GPU: R9 280X Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-D3P RAM: 8GB Ripjaws X PSU: CM V750 Gold CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i So what happened was I was overclocking my cpu and reached a good 4.3ghz. It was running pretty stable but i thought I would try and get it to 4.4Ghz. That's when it started. I set my Voltage to 1.35 and gave it a crack, the computer would simply not turn on. It'd boot then just immediately shut down. So i eventually got the 'Failed to boot' message and gives me a couple options. load optimized default and reboot/boot or enter bios. So i enter the bios and put it back to the original settings at the 4.3ghz clock i was running. But it still wouldn't start. I kept getting the fail to boot so i tried just loading defaults and it started up. But what's this? Idling at 80 degrees celcius at 4ghz with default settings??? (It used to sit max 50 Celsius idle before i started OCing) Then it started thermal throttling and going down to around 1.4ghz and sitting at 35 degrees. So after sitting here troubleshooting and using the oracle that is google i just tried resetting the cmos. It's started up and my cooler is running normally in terms of fan speed etc etc. And with the H110i the logo will turn red if under load/very hot. It is not red. But im using HWMonitor Pro and it's saying im still sitting at around 75 degrees?? Task manager is also saying im throttling to 1.6ghz. Any ideas? Cheers (This is my second time overclocking by the way I am definitely no veteran in the field.)
  10. Nope, I'll just install it overnight i guess. Cheers for the help anyway man
  11. One small problem, how do i tell which files are the mod and which arent?
  12. I might have accidentally put a mod in there that i downloaded previous to it so i could play with them once it was finished downloading. I have 133gb's left on my hdd too so yeah.
  13. Hey so i bought the game and finally just finished installing the huge amount of Gigs, I open it up to find that it crashed, so I proceeded to try multiple times to start it again to no avail. I've restarted the PC and followed the instructions on the rockstar website. I really dont want to re-download the game I'm on the social club platform btw, but i was hoping someone here could help Log is in the spoiler Anyone know? I'm sure there is a reason, but none that i know what to do about
