  1. That did it. Downloaded DDU and ran that. When it booted up it initially looked like that it was going to go into 'power saving' mode but then the Windows screen came up. Thanks.
  2. Not with the new card. I could get in with the old one.
  3. So I get a black screen when I boot up with the new Asus 4060 OC edition card I bought to replace my ancient RX480. Mobo and chip were updated last year to Ryzen 5600x and MSI B550 . The fans spin briefly then nothing. I have a 750 watt power supply and the old card boots up no problem when I swap it out. I've reseated it a few times but no luck. I'm using HDMI cable, I don't have a display port cable to try. I've read some people used HDMI 2 cable or display port and that worked. Seems odd that would work, but I'll pick on up Tuesday to try. Any ideas.
  4. Budget (including currency): $1000+ Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Basics and some gaming. Other details: I'll be using my current case, HDs, and vid card. The case is Deepcool, vid card is Radeo RX 480. Currnent mobo is ASRock H170A-X1/3.1 with a Intel Core i5 6500 3.20GHz. I'm looking to replace the mobo, cpu, and RAM. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
  5. When I build my system 6 years ago I had a boot drive SSD and a second sata drive for storage. I picked up a new Samsung SSD and used Samsung Migration software to make a copy of the original SSD. It will boot from the new SSD if it's the only drive, or if I select it in the boot manager while starting up, otherwise itt will always try to boot from the storage drive. I've gone into bios to fix the boot order but that doesn't seem to to do anything. Any suggestions?? I had this problem before but was unable to find a solution. Thanks.
  6. My system has a small system SSD and a secondary storage HD. I made a clone of the SSD to a larger one. It will boot on it's own, but if the original storage drive is connected, which I still need, the clone will not boot. No issues setting it in bios, but just refuses to boot with that drive connected. Any suggestions?
  7. Oh lord.. So I managed to change the drive to gpt by using Windows boot usb but when I went into Disk Mgmt the disk was not initialized. I had erased it earlier. So now in Disk Mgmt I can initialize as a gpt volume and format a simple volume. Now when I go into Samsung Data Migration the disk goes offline and I have to start over again. It just keeps going offline every time. I have switched the SSD positions around just in case it was a cable but that hasn't changed anything. (Windows is no easier to work with now than when it debuted)
  8. I got there through device manager. It is MBR but so far using the conversion isn't working. I'll keep looking. Thanks.
  9. Tried this and got stuck. A number of the commands are a little bit different which was fun trying to figure out. Then I got to the 'create partition efi' part and it says MSR and EFI partitions only permitted on GPT disks. This really should be a much simpler process o_O.
  10. I have 2 drives in my current system on SSD and one reg HD. Windows is on the SSDand games and stuff on the other. I put a new Samsung SSD into my PC and used Samsung Migration Tool to move everything. No problems there. When I removed the original drive and put the new one in it doesn't show up in Boot Manager on startup. I have to F11 on startup to get the menu then select from there, but even then sometimes it doesn't give me the menu right away and I have to reboot. I've gone into the UEFI and changed the boot order and it still doesn't show up on booting. It just shows the reg HD. I'm not savvy when it comes to tweaking things in bios, but the boot order seems correct there. Any suggestions?
  11. Thanks for the suggestions Seems whenever I post new gear is coming out. I'll wait for the new stuff to come out. I'll go AMD for this build for sure. Using the RX 480 for a while seems like a good idea as well. Thanks again.
  12. Budget (including currency): $1000-ish. Can go up a bit if needed. Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Warzone, BF, Doom Eternal etc.. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is my current setup that I put together about 4 1/2 years ago. I don't need any peripherals. Frame rates are pretty rough as soon as there's any action on the screen in Warzone. I posted about this back in June but waiting for new hardware to come out was the advice I got. Upgrading the current system doesn't seem to be worthwhile so I'll just keep it as is. Any suggestions greatly appreciated as always. 13. Good to know. I think I can manage until new hardware is out
  14. I've reduced my graphics quality and settings to try and improve gameplay. It has helped a bit. Only so much you can do with older systems
  15. Cdn pesos. I haven't thought much about budget. Just looking at the options then I'll decide based on the cost. Thanks.
  16. Below is my current system that I put together about 4 years ago or so. I'm a very casual gamer and my current system is struggling with Warzone. I'm just wondering if there's anything that could be upgraded to increase performance without going into full system build. Vid card, RAM, CPU? Any input appreciated. 17. I'd like 1440 and higher refresh rate as I do some gaming.Overall just looking to up the quality. I'll definitely be keeping the current monitor and moving it over to another machine.
  18. I'm currently using a BenQ GL2460 and I'm looking to upgrade to something better. I know very little about monitors as I've spent much of my time previously on an iMac. Budget around $500 Cdn or less. These are the specs of my current PC. 19. I switched over to Mac in 2002 when the Mbox for ProTools LE came out. Later on I switched to Logic and have been using that since. I'm looking at maybe getting away from Logic but it's not easy to leave the DAW you know. The difference in performance is ridiculous
  20. Any suggestions or tweaks anyone would recommend to improve upon the Ryzen build Linus posted a while back. Keeping the price the same or a bit lower. 21. So here's the build I did about 2+ years ago now. :D Well better late than never. I hadn't owned a PC in about 12 years at the time and the last build was few years before that. It was a pentium of some sort with a 16 meg Hercules vid card. I ended up putting this one together based on STConquest's suggestion. The only thing missing off here is the 150 gig SSD drive, which I'm going to upgrade to 1TB soon. 22. Would this be easier with Windows 8?
  23. Windows 10 it is. I don't have access to another PC right now. Thanks
  24. It was posting fine and could get into bios
  25. So I successfully created a Windows 7 installer on USB using my iMac and Bootcamp Assistant. Keep in mind I don't have a PC. I have an ASROCK H170A-X1 3.1 Mobo, which does have USB 2.0 ports on it that connect to the front of the case which is a Deepcool Kendomen. The problem is that I can't get it to boot from the USB. Any ideas??
