  5. hmm alright all this is a lot of info to try and break down but wouldn't a bigger motherboard make my price rise even so if I dropped my cpu down to a lower lvl? as for the 3tb thanks I had no clue
  6. hmmm why Xeon? I was told they were more for workstations?
  7. hmmm follow your topics? sorry still rather new to the web site although it has helped quite a bit in solving a lot of my computer issues
  8. So Id like to do a high-end desktop build but would like to keep the price under 1,500 CAD* Currently what I have worked out is this: CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($324.98 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 113.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler ($59.99 @ NCIX US) Motherboard: EVGA Z87 Stinger Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($174.97 @ Amazon) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($122.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.74 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card ($532.98 @ Newegg) Case: BitFenix Colossus Mini Mini ITX Tower Case ($88.98 @ OutletPC) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($56.75 @ OutletPC) Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-14 DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ Newegg) Total: $1446.35 But I have been thinking is it worth it to buy the I7 devils canyon? or should I go for a high-end I5 processor? I don't do much besides video games/YouTube/Skype. Now I do enjoy very high graphics and would love to keep that in the build if I could.
  9. hmmm alright thank you guys, I've been thinking of building a desktop any way as to spare this laptops life span longer and not be with out a backup
  10. Dude its a 1,500 dollar laptop Ya I know its not "Gaming" but it still should be able to pump out more power for its price range
  11. well I mean the temps don't jump over 40 when playing farcry 4 on high >.< so Heating is not a issue I don't think
  12. So I have a HP J17 envy with an nvida 840m inside of it my question for you all is can I OC this gpu, Yes I know it is a laptop GPU and there is risks when doing so but it mostly sits on a desk and always has a laptop fan mat under it. The reason for wanting to OC this notebook is because its rather choppy and dips in frames when playing games in high or ultra settings and when I drop them to medium I see only a tad difference in frame rates. Specs: Laptop: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC Os: Windows 8.1 64-bit Cpu: Intel® Core i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz Ram: 12GB (4GB Samsung 1333MHz and 8GB Samsung 1333MHz) Gpu: NVIDIA GeForce 840M Cpu Gpu: Intel® HD Graphics 4600 Anything more needed let me know~
  13. hmmm well although I have the hard drives they don't have a os on them >.< Can I clone my latops OS onto one some how? I know when you buy the WD black2 it lets you.
  14. oh wow I honestly never thought of that...Thanks! well now all that is left to do is save up for this beast lmao
