  1. Thank you Electronics Wizardy, It will only be the 3 scales and a laptop on the network. The IPs will statically be assigned. Am I better off with just a router? From my understanding there is no ISP on site at least not yet. Sorry getting confused between router and AP for this setup.
  2. I did confirm that there will be no internet access. The scales will be communicating with a computer with the scale software installed. Awesome, that is what I was thinking but just wanted to confirm. This is what you are referring too? I can just use this? https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-AC-LITE-802-11ac-Gigabit-Dual-Radio/dp/B01DRM6MLI/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=ubiquiti+network+unifi+802.11ac+dual+radio+pro&qid=1614960191&sr=8-1
  3. Hello all! Long time member and have built a few custom PCs but I have recently have been asked to setup a friends small business. It is a deli and they have 3 wifi scales that need to be on a closed wireless network with no internet access (need to confirm that part). They also need a router. 1. From my understanding I just setup router with a new SSID and password, maybe hide the SSID? What is the best practice for ensuring it does not have internet access? Simply not having it plugged in to the modem? 2. Recommendation for a router for this type of setup? Thank you, Ryan
  4. I think I am going to use the rental router from them for a month or so and then figure out what my options are and push for ONT since i will be internet only. Thank you everyone!
  5. Thanks! thats what I as afraid of...they would use coaxial cable to the modem.
  6. Hello All, I just ordered Verizon Fios for my new to me home. For now I went with the 100mbps speed and I will be using my own router. I am curious on how the service will be installed? Since it is Fios would they be using the ONT(Ethernet cable) or a coaxial cable? I still need to find a compatible router as well. Thank you Ryan

  10. Hello Everyone, I plan on starting my second build within the month. I have been rocking my budget build for close to three years now and its time for more power. I am currently running and i3-4300, evga 960 SSC 2gb, 8gbs of ram and 600w power supply lol. I mainly use this playing COD and Battlefield. Here is the link to what I am planning on building. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TMPg2R (I will be reusing my hard disks) Its nothing crazy I know, just looking for some opinions and if I should wait on anything cool coming in the near future it would be greatly appreciated Main concerns are about the gpu selection Ryan
  11. Ah gotcha.. Was hoping Google had an offline version of their player. Now you have to manage two apps...?
  12. Yea I seen that. Just want to figure out how it would would if I have no internet connection and cant get to the web player. I would have the music files just no player for them.
  13. Hey Everyone, Looking to make the switch from Itunes to Google Play. I have used Itunes for years. I understand how Google play works and that your music is saved to the cloud and you can also download it for offline play for both your PC and mobile phone. What I dont understand is what do you use to play the music while offline. Do most people just use windows media player or is there a google desktop app for that? Thank you
  14. Thank you for your help! From some research it seems that my secondary router does not support bridge mode... back to the drawing board/

  16. I have a new comcast modem/wireless router which is the 10 gateway and then off of that OI have wireless router which is the 192 gateway. I made it this way to extend the wireless range initially. Where would the vlan have to be created?
  17. Hey Everyone, I have Openmediavault running on an semi old HP desktop with NAS setup mainly using it for backups for other machines in my house. I successfully made backups of my machines to it. I am now looking to backup other machines in my house, however they are on a different network. I am having a brain fart on how to config the network so the server can see both networks. It is currently configured on 192.168.1.x. I also need to see 10.0.0.x. Is that possible or do i need another physical connection? Also apologize if this should be in networking threads Thank you

  22. Hey everyone, Please tell me if I am wrong. No idea the brand the front of the case is missing and no markings on it however the BIOS version is MWPNT10N.86a.0113.2012.0207.1500, intel atom D425. I tried putting windows 10 on it and it crashed and get stuck in the blue recovery screen. Is there a way to check if the BIOS supports windows 10? I can find much online. It would be great of someone point me in the right direction. Either updating the bios or try putting windows 7 on it.
