  1. Thanks for the advice and the components list (especially the PSU as I have no previous experience with them) now I only need to save up for the 970 and I'll have a decent tower.
  2. Thanks, will do, just one more question do you have a PSU to suggest that is capable of running both of the CPUs and the gtx 970 without braking the budget too much no need for a specific product just the power a PSU has to have in order to run all of these (the xeons are 120w each according to ARK as for the 970 i have no idea).
  3. Well I was trying to find out will this motherboard even support a modern day GPU but as it turns out its just easier to get a different motherboard then all the components for this one, so im just asking for mobo suggestions for two Xeon X5460 LGA 771 CPUs.
  4. Ok so basically its much easier to just find another board then to find all the stuff for this one, right?
  5. Yeah I can see that being an issue but nothing unresolvable, I would however appreciate some other mobo suggestions if you have any, they dont have to be OP or anything just good enough to support the two LGA 771 xeons and a gtx 970.
  6. Yeah you're right but its still cheaper ,at least for me, getting the adapters then actually buying a lets say i5 with an appropriate mobo, ram and PSU let alone add the gtx 970. As for the case I dont mind not even having a case and just building the rig on a wall or under my desk, for now im just focusing on getting the actuall parts for as cheap as possible as I am budget.
  7. So after Linus did the server PC video I got online and did some research myself and you really can find exceptionally cheap old Xeons and make a decent rig out of them so I found two Xeon X5460's for the LGA 771 socket and then found a dell motherboard with the said socket for cheap so whats interesting me now is the capabilities of that motherboard AKA can I slot in lets say a GTX 970 or R9 390 and some ECC ddr2 ram (16 gig-ish) and is it recommended. The motherboard itself is from an old Dell precision 490 it would appear to me, I'll toss in some pics from the seller as well. All and any help is greatly appreciated. 8. Yeah I see what you think but those are the prices from here in Croatia translated to USD not the prices of the parts on lets say amazon or newegg, so the actual build would be cheaper in lets say USA or Germany but as I said everything just costs more here so its hard to get something good for your money . I didn't really make that clear in the first post so my bad I'm really sorry if I confused you. So my actual question at this point is can anyone recommend any good i5 that aren't terribly expensive and if possible can be overclocked .
  9. Funnily enough that's what I wanted in the first place, the i5 4690K and the GTX 970 but it just costs so much and the fact that I wont probably do 4k for at least another few years it just made more sense to replace the GTX970 with the MSI R9 280 since I only plan on gaming in 1080p but I will try to find and replace the fx8350 with the core i5 (hopefully 4690k) and make it all fit my budget. And yes all do I would love to buy your build you'd be amazed just how much more everything costs around here (the gtx is ~490USD here) so I have to make the best of my money. Thanks for the list tho and if you could recommend any other i5 that can overclock and has an ok price or really any i5 with an ok price I would appreciate that lot since im not really in on the processors and price to performance of them lately.
  10. I did think about that but SSDs kinda brake my budget so I compromised and went with an SSHD which should do for now and I can always upgrade in the future (kinda) .
  11. Well that could have been an issue, thanks for the warning. I also agree with GhostWindGamer and I did though about an i5 but I don't really know which one to chose since I plan on overclocking later on when I get the budget for a custom CPU cooler and some more case fans as for the MOBO I will pick up a H97 if I manage to find an i5 to fit in my budget, maybe some recommendations? I will most definitely upgrade the monitor when I gather enough money for it, right now this one is pretty good but my current rig is an old budget buy and has a mini ATX board so it gets the priority when it comes to upgrading. I agree but can you recommend a budget i5 that can be overclocked because my fist build had the i54690k but it was kinda braking the budget so I had to ditch it and go AMD . btw thank you all for replying so quickly and for all your help .
  12. So I'm posting this because I really want to upgrade my current rig to a new one but I don't really have a ton of money to spend on it. Keep in mind that I'm from Croatia and the prices probably vary from the prices of the same parts where you live. This is also my first ever build of a brand new PC, all do I have messed around disassembling and reassembling old PCs before. So for the build i would like you to tell me if its possible, is it OK price to performance or could I get little more for little less, and any tips for building are welcomed . -The specs: AMD x8 fx-8350 MSI Radeon R9 280 (3gb) MSI 970A-G46FX 2xKingston 4GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM HyperX FURY Black Series Corsair Builder Series CX500M, 500 Watt, Modular Power Supply SEAGATE HDD DESKTOP SSHD 3.5" / 1TB / 64m/ SATA/ 7200rpm ST1000DX001 Thermaltake Versa II Couple of other things to keep in mind: no need for peripherals we have a rotation system (every time a new PC comes in we scrap the oldest one and rotate the rest of them), my monitor is currently a very small one and I have no idea about its refresh rate the resolution is 1366 x 768, my budget is ~1000USD (total of this here in Croatia is ~6300kn and that is ~990USD, also no part picker link but if anyone is interested I can make the list there . All and any help is welcomed and appreciated .
  13. So what you all are telling me is that I can just upgrade for 32-bit to 64-bit and keep my files? Because the reason I wanted an upgrade is the fact that I use this PC mainly for games and Im kinda running low on disk space (500gb total- ~50gb free) and i can either buy a new system or add RAM to this one and expand its storage (and hope that the GPU lasts me anothe year or two) but Im not shure is my PSU powerfull enough for another HDD. The reason I suspect this is I tried to install an 3 year old HDD in it the other day and the Windows crashed on me, and like that wasnt enough while I was unpluging the HDD it fell on my finger and cut me so now my case is kinda blody. So what do you say should I upgrade Win7, the RAM and the HDD (I dont really care about the data I just want more storage), or go full new system? Thank you in advance I apriciate all help because I am just a noob at this kinda stuff.. My current specs: -Intel Celeron dual core 2.8GHz (it sucks I know) -AMD Radeon HD---- 2gb(cant remember the model number(im away and using my laptop)) -4gb RAM -MSI motherboard -???W PSU
  14. First I would like to apologize if I posted this thread on the wrong topic page, I am new here and Im no PC expert also english is not my native language. Now what I would like someone to tell me if it is possible (then how)or not to add a second hard drive into a PC and then install WIN7 onto it (even tho the first one already has WIN7 on it) and then delete the WIN7 from the first one and just boot from the second HDD. Now there is a catch my curent WIN7 is x32 (I didnt install it and whoever did wasnt very bright since the procesor can run 64-bit) and i would like to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit without losing any or minimum amount of my data.Any and all help is appreciated.
