Seeking feedback on 9950X3D / 5090 build
deigo73 replied to deigo73's topic in New Builds and Planning
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/curtner/saved/#view=Pq4snQ This is the final build with all available parts ordered/delivered. Trying to catch the Xeneon Edge when it's in stock and budgeting about $600 for the ASUS XG27AQWMG when that comes out hopefully by the end of the year. I'm trying to get my wife to build this with me since she's never built a computer before, but with her lack of patience I'll be curious to see how that plays out Curious as to what y'all think about this finished setup? What would you have done differently? Really appreciate everyone's insight and recommendations. OpenRGB was a great thread recc that I'm already loving! Yeah this is a great recommendation and kinda what I ended up doing. If I need to upgrade beyond 128GB down the road I'll order an entirely new kit instead of filling empty slots. Thanks! -

Oh dude I'm a moron. I never changed the proc to 9000 series for the updated QVL over 7000 series -

No I've not heard of it, but I just Googled it. This could change everything lol. This is exactly why I was looking for feedback, so thank you!! -

Yeah I kinda did, you're right. Previously I wasn't sure about what parts to use, but now I'm more set on the components and am looking for feedback on the build as a whole. It's not a fantasy build and I'll be putting it together in the next month or two, depending on if I want to wait possible sales coming soon or if I'm just like "f it... buy it now". And I know the RGB is excessive af, but I figured I can tweak all that in software. Large cases are expensive as it is, and filling them with fans isn't cheap, but I like the look of a fully kitted build. -
The List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NGyBC8 Budget (including currency): $8,000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily used as a work machine, moonlighting as a gaming machine. Games: Heroes of the Storm // Call of Duty a few months a year // new titles sprinkled in here and there Programs: Multiple browsers loading heavy sites with hundreds of tabs each while screen recording and gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Considerations Corsair: I only went full Corsair because I hate the software for lighting and was just trying to consolidate it to a single program, and since I went with the 9000D I figured I'd stay Corsair. Why: This is a work/gaming computer. My work is very, very, very CPU and RAM intensive. My 12900K and 128GB RAM are getting pegged (100% and 80% respectively) and it's been a while since I built my system so I figured it's time for something fresh. Displays: I run six displays (three top, three bottom) with my current setup. My primary display is an old Dell that is decent 1440p, 144Hz, G-Sync. I have five AOC 27" 1440p displays surrounding it. I will upgrade the Dell to the new ASUS XG27AQWMG when it releases. I will also be getting the Corsair Xeneon Edge 14.5" touchscreen to monitor temps, etc. Resolution: 1440p, maybe 4k thrown in sometimes if I notice a difference (not likely on 27", I suppose) Secondary GPU: Since I currently have two 3070s I'm just going to keep one as my secondary GPU instead of running all seven monitors through the 5090. I know this would cut the PCIe from 16x to 8x for the 5090 but that seems negligible. RAM: These aren't on the QVL but hoping it's fine. They only have a single kit of 4x48GB on the QVL for this mobo and it's slow and non-RGB, but with 4x48GB I don't think Case: I love huge cases so I decided on the 9000D. The extra space makes it easier to build and ensures I have plenty of space for two GPUs. Cooling: 420 AIO on the CPU and a ton of case fans because they're pretty SSDs: 2x 4TB, Gen5 for M.2_1 and Gen4 for M.2_2 PSU: 1500W seemed sufficient ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fans: Tried to use all 140mm and then fill in with 120mm where 140s won't work Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Opinions on running 6-7 monitors on a 5090
deigo73 replied to deigo73's topic in New Builds and Planning
Yeah this precisely. And I already have the 3070 so why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think I decided to go with the 9000D case and just sticking with the dual GPU concept. I have the juice...might as well use it! -

Ah good call on the RAM; I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks! After looking at the case again I think you're right... time to get a new case. I'm also nervous about GPU sag since I probably won't be able to use the sag bar from a case if I'm using a second GPU Guess that depends on where the bar is and if it's out of the way of the second card. -

Displays: I run six displays (three top, three bottom) with my current setup. My primary display is an old Dell that is decent 1440p, 144Hz, G-Sync, not curved. I have five AOC 27" 1500R curved 1440p displays surrounding it. I plan on upgrading my Dell to the new ASUS XG27AQWMG when it releases. I was also think about getting the Corsair Xeneon Edge 14.5" touchscreen to monitor temps, etc. Resolution: 1440p, maybe 4k thrown in sometimes if I notice a difference (not likely on 27", I suppose) Secondary GPU: Since I currently have two 3070s I was thinking about just keeping one as my secondary GPU instead of running all of the 27"s and the touchscreen through the 5090. I know this would cut the PCIe from 16x to 8x but that seems negligible. RAM: Looking to get 196GB, and I thought I read that with the 9950X3D you would want 6000MHz and sub 30 latency. Not positive on that, though. Case: Anything with good ventilation. I tend to like XL cases since they're easier to work in. Cooler: Looking for a good 420 AIO. SSDs: 2x 4TB, looking at the Samsung 9100 Pro but not sold on anything yet PSU: I like spending more for a really nice PSU. Whether that brings cool features, smarter cabling, better modularity, etc. Fans: Looking to fill the case with 140mm RGB fans that do a great job on cooling I have a list that I'm not sold on in any way shape or form. I'm open to feedback on the entire build, but I'm primarily looking for advice on the GPU config. It seems like the best idea would be to run a secondary GPU, but I want to make sure that I don't run into spacing issues. When I add the second GPU to the list it tells me it won't fit, but the mobo looks to have the proper spacing for this? Any help and insight is greatly appreciated!

Well I want a second GPU because I'm not going to run six displays off of a single card. Better performance to split them up. The CPU is 100% pinned. It's still functional, but it's suboptimal. My RAM will peak into the 50-70% use ranges, and since I'm going with a new system anyways I figured I'd just get moar wam. Admittedly I don't know much about PCIe capabilities, and I'm cool with dropping the number of drives to 2 4TB drives if that makes more sense.

Budget (including currency): $5,000 - $6,000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: Heroes of the Storm // Call of Duty a few months a year // new titles sprinkled in here and there Programs: Multiple browsers loading heavy sites with hundreds of tabs each with several background application while screen recording and sometimes gaming (yes, "simultaneously") Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Considerations Why: This is a work/gaming computer. My work is very, very, very CPU and RAM intensive. My 12900K and 128GB RAM are getting pegged and it's been a while so I figured it's time for something fresh. Displays: I run six displays (three top, three bottom) with my current setup. My primary display is an old Dell that is decent 1440p, 144Hz, G-Sync, not curved. I have five AOC 27" 1500R curved 1440p displays surrounding it. I wouldn't mind replacing the Dell with something better (4K, maybe?) so I'm open to suggestions, but I would want it to be 27" just because I don't want to mess with having to move all of my other displays again. Resolution: Piggybacking off the info above, I play at 1440p but I've never played at 4K. If it's that much better then I'd want to upgrade. Secondary GPU: Since I currently have two 3070s I was thinking about just keeping one as my secondary GPU instead of getting something new. Seems to be working fine so far. RAM: Looking to get 196GB, and I thought I read that with the 9950X3D you would want 6000MHz and sub 30 latency. Not positive on that, though. Case: Anything with good ventilation. I tend to like XL cases since they're easier to work in. Cooler: Probably want a 360 AIO on the CPU. I like the ones that show the temp on the front (even though my window faces my dog's cage....lol) SSDs: I like having only NVMe drives. I'd probably want three or four in total. A 2TB for OS, a 4TB for games, a 4TB for data, and maybe another 4TB for data (or duplication). So I'd want a mobo with 4 NVMe slots (I think that's a thing, right?) PSU: I like spending more for a really nice PSU. Not that I'd want anything that's overkill for overkills sake, but I want the best. I go down "research rabbit holes" every time I think about the next component I want. I don't have the patience I used to have and would greatly appreciate it If anyone would be willing to put together what they think would be a good system given the above considerations. Thank you so much!

Looking for an epic (not ultimate) AMD build

$10,000 - consumer grade parts within my specs won't hit near $10k, hence "no budget" 1440p res on 6 displays, 1080 on the 7th -

I'd be fine going with a secondary card that's not so beefy. Single thread applications are all that will be ran on the machine. -

Yeah I'm looking for a consumer grade setup, nothing enterprise. -
Budget (including currency): No budget Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VERY heavy browser loads that require a surprisingly high amount of GPU power across 7 displays Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Looking to go Ryzen Cheers! So essentially I'm looking for the following: Case: Full tower CPU: Best consumer grade AMD proc RAM: 128GB GPU: 2x 4000 series (probably looking at 4080 or 4080 Ti) Cooler: AIO SSD: 1TB (I'm used to the Samsung Pro series, but if there's something better/faster/more reliable then I'm all ears) It doesn't have to be pretty. If the part isn't listed, I don't care what it is.
