  1. Obviously I'm not overclocking the 8100 since it's a locked SKU. Overkill is OK if I decide to upgrade later on I'm just shopping in local retail stores.
  2. I live in Iceland. Every decent cooler is over 50 dollars
  3. I know it is. But I'm mostly looking at getting a better one now in case I upgrade the CPU to an i5 later on and with air flow not being the best with the S340 Elite I figure a beefier cooler would make more sense, and since I'm saving a ton of money using used parts I don't see it as an issue to spend a bit more.
  4. So, I recently made some upgrades to my own system and my HTPC and as a result I have some spare parts lying around. S340 Elite (red and black with stock fans), couple of Noctua 140s, 550W PSU and an MSI 1050Ti GamingX so I thought I'd put together a capable 1080p gaming PC for my sister on the cheap. Got the i3 8100 for less than 100 USD and just waiting for the B360 motherboards to land in my country. Now, aesthetics aren't important to her but since it's a TG case I'd like to have it look nice and with the CPU only having 65W TDP the stock cooler should suffice, however, airflow isn't the best in the case and I would like to have the option of upgrading the CPU later on without having to buy a new cooler. Since the GPU is so noticeably red and black I think that should be the colour scheme of the build itself, so I've been looking at this one https://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/freezer-33-esports-edition.html Massive overkill for an i3 but it fits the build and I could use the second fan as an replacement for the stock 120 from NZXT, since I don't need push pull for this CPU. Has anyone had any experience with this particular cooler? Also, any suggestions for an alternative?
  5. Well! Whatever it was it seems to have fixed itself. What a weird thing.
  6. I have tried everything Google has suggested so I'll just assume I've been blocked For what I don't know but hopefully this will be fixed.
  7. Bought it on UPlay but I've already done that. Could the anti cheat tool be causing this? Cause as soon as that runs in task manager the game the grw.exe closes followed by the cheat thing. Are they blocking my account or something? Not received any notice of that and I don't see why they'd do that anyway.
  8. So. I have about 30 hours invested in this game in Single player Solo and the experience has been flawless so far. But then the game just crashed with no error messages or anything. So I was just gonna restart it but then it never did restart, the splash screen comes up and it's syncing my saves and all that to the cloud but then it just goes back to the UPlay screen for GWR. I opened Task Manager to see if the game exe was even launching and yes I see that GWR.exe launches as soon as I tell it to, also two other process, some anti cheat thing. They all close right after the sync. What is going on? I was excited about the mission was about to start, the one where we meet up with a character making a cameo appearance in La Cruz. I'm very confused as to what is happening. Is my game just ruined? I can't even start a new game or anything I've verified files and done a full reinstall of the game. Deleted every trace of it from my system and reinstalled it but still the same issue. Also posted this on the Ubi forum but there is no one there.
  9. So I'm thinking about getting custom cables for my RMx PSU and I'm wondering about the PRO line from Cable Mod. https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-pro-modmesh-c-series-rmi-rmx-cable-kit/ I'm wondering though do the PCI-E cables also come with combs pre installed like the ATX cable does? The picture at the store page shows all of them bundled together and only additional combs for EPS seem to be provided.
  10. Well the original cable from the RMX PSU is Type 4 and the original cable from the CMX is also Type 4
  11. I'm switching power supplies in one of my PCs and I require an extra SATA power cable. I have one from a modular CX model that I'm not using. They are both Type 4 and both identical, can I safely use it for the RMx?
  12. Well I have 7 fans. 3 exhaust and then a push pull on a front rad and there is plenty of air going through the case
  13. The store is taking it back and is going to have a look at it. I have it on hybrid or fanless mode but once it reaches a certain load the fan ramps up and the noise coming from it is actually audible over the noise coming from my other 7 fans I have in my case.
  14. OK so after working on the PC for a few hours the temps are now roughly 49 C with spikes up to mid 50s. After doing some tuning with fan curves etc. I can see that temps top out at around 70 during Heaven with clocks reaching 1.9 and around 73-74 during Furmark with clocks into the 1.7s and lower, never lower than 1.65
  15. Alright, I'll make the changes over the easter hols. I have the x62 Kraken so it won't go the entire length of the case so I should be OK with the tubes reaching the CPU, seen people have issues with that with tall and long cases. Hopefully this will help my issue.
  16. So I used to have a 1070 in the S340 Elite but after upgrading to the 1080Ti and added a front radiator I noticed that during games it was nearly always around 70-75 degrees and idling between 50-60 C with the fans spinning up for few seconds every now and then. I got a new case after being recommended to do so on here, Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG but this time I front mounted the radiator as intake in push pull config with ML140 fans. Cpu temps are great and initial GPU temps at idling are terrific too buuuut then after a while the temps go up to mid 50s this is just while browsing the internet. Not high but I feel like a 0db fan mode should make the fans be off unless gaming. I've played around with fan curves in Afterburner and GPU Tweak but same thing. I have the radiator fans on a curve so that they stay at 400 RPMs when the CPU is at normal temps. Ramping them up way more does lower GPU temps a bit but not enough to warrant the noise . So I'm thinking. Would I be better off having the radiator as exhaust at the top and have two front intake fans instead blowing air right on the GPU which was the idea with the push pull but it doesn't seem to be changing much.
  17. There were other reasons too, I got a good deal on it and I was given a cable set from CableMod for Seasonic. Anyway, I hear it now on hybrid mode with Furmark running for a few minutes. I've seen a few Youtube videos where the same noise is present.
  18. Oh fantastic.....Seasonic is supposed to be a premium brand right? I'm coming from Corsair which was completely silent but did lack a few connectors I needed. Such as extra EPS
  19. I'm not sure, I don't have a device to measure that. But my specs are R7 1800x at 3.9 cooled with x62 Kraken, 1080Ti at stock, few SSDs and 16 gigs of ram (2 8 gig sticks). But it's just the cpu and gpu that take up any significant wattage.
  20. So I got myself a new power supply. Seasonic Prime Platinum 850W. Now, it's DEAD silent when on hybrid/fanless mode (obviously) although I'm sure the fan will spin up eventually under heavy heavy load. However, if I have it on normal with the fan running all the time I hear this droning noise that doesn't go away. So I just keep it on fanless all the time. Is that detrimental to the PSU long term?
  21. Thanks for the response. I have actually decided on the Corsair ML fans and got them delivered today. They look great, hopefully they perform as well as they look.
  22. So I'm getting a new case. Enthoo Pro M Tempered Glass since my S340 Elite has had trouble cooling the GPU after I put the rad in. So I'm thinking of getting a slightly larger case and have the rad front mounted but this time with additional fans for push/pull to make sure the 1080Ti gets enough air. I fear that top mounting it would cause some clearance issues or make the top of the motherboard inaccessible for trouble shooting should the need arise. Push/pull should bring in enough air through a rad right? Anyway, i'm asking this in the liquid cooling forum cause I need advice on what fans you guys are using on your radiators. I currently have the two stock NZXT fans but they're not that good. The black Noctuas? Corsair ML series, BeQuiet?
  23. Although I do notice that it can also be top mounted but to fully utilize that space I'd need a 360 rad and there might be clearance issues. Also, only the special edition is available so its interior is all white. Colour neutral though so that's good.
