  1. I figured it out guys, it was a program called "LAN Turbo" that I downloaded that was slowing down my LAN speed, thanks for all the help guys!
  2. I booted my computer in safe mode with networking and then ran a speed test on speedtest.net. I got the download speeds i am paying for (25Megabits p/s download speed and 10Megabits p/s upload speed). I read online that this indicates a program might be using too many resources or is infected by malware, if this is the case, what should i do?
  3. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "local" but if you mean when I am connected to my router straight to my computer via cat5 ethernet cable then I still get the same 3-5 megabits p/s. My ethernet link is negaciated to 1000mbps or 1.00Gbps Full Duplex with the Auto Negotiation setting on. I also ran speed tests with 10/100/1000mbps Full Duplex setting and got the same results. Should I try the half duplex settings? or is there something else I am missing?
  4. Yes I am using speedtest.net and I checked the settings and it said I was using megabits not megabytes so that would mean 3-5 megabits p/s download speed. I changed it to megabytes p/s and ran a test and got 0.577 megabyte download speed and 0.018 upload speed To answer Avalon's question, no i usually only have my gaming computer on and my brother sometimes has his laptop on aswell but does not play games like I do, he mostly uses it for streaming videos. The main computer is hardly used and when it is it is usually for streaming videos and browsing the web. I'm not sure if my router QoS is giving priority to my gaming computer (I don't think it is) and how would I be able to tell if my ethernet port is running full duplex?
  5. So I recently built a computer specifically for gaming and I have been having some really slow internet speeds, I bought a new router and it did not change anything, so I thought it might be the internet speed was too slow, so i upgraded my internet service to 25Mbps. Now main computer and laptops are getting 20Mbps and phones are getting around 10-15Mbps, but my gaming computer is still getting 3-5Mbps, so I thought it might be the cable so I changed the cable to 2 other ones I had and no luck. Then I thought it might be that the ethernet port is broken somehow so I went out and bought a usb to ethernet adapter and tried that and still no progress. I'm very lost here and by no means a computer expert so I thought I would ask around, any suggestions? Anything helps, and thanks in advance.
