  1. I use Linux Mint, ended up working quite fine for me. The laptop I'm using has some dandy internals. Mint being as bloated as it is ends up working well enough out of the box. I don't want to bother with network card after install. I could suggest Manjaro though, it worked for me semi-well, the main issue for me was that when I had it installed, my bios was too old for the OS to handle. After I updated I installed mint directly. I do like some graphical tools mint has though.
  2. I'm just wondering guys, have any of you ever had an Xperia Z3 Compact device along with phantom glass screen protector? Now those screen protectors are quite pricey, but have a reputation. I'm very careless phone user, I always do stuff while using phone, I always use it with single hand. Therefore I need small and durable device. I also hate protection cases, because they limit the accessibility of side buttons. Wouold you recommend Z3 to a user who above all, needs a durable phone?
  3. I'm asking both, but I'm intending to run it on Linux. Gameplay is also important to me. I also have R9 285 on my desktop, should that do? Also I believe ultrawide support is not an issue on a title like that?
  4. Is Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor game worth 10€? It's 75% down on Steam, thought I might check it out, but I usually don't spend this much money on games. I kinda want to support the developer since the game works on linux, but I've heard it's a rather shitty port and that it shouldn't work well on my Nvidia GT 750M. Anyways, opinions? Anyone has any experience with the game? Is it worth the money? Better wait, for it to get cheaper?
  5. Going with linux should be a good idea, but I don't think you'll need a new laptop. I'd advise you to dual-boot a nice simply linux distro like linux mint. You will probably be learning python, which you should be using on linux. Go learn some linux, it'll be good for you!.
  6. No, 5K, that's 16 megapixels a frame, you shouldn't be running this kind of resolution. Maybe just play at 1440p?
  7. I use R9 285 and I need this card because AMD still didn't release the proprietary driver for Ubuntu 16.04, therefore my old card won't work on my latest distro. You owe me this card AMD. (Funny thing, there already is support for R9 480).
  8. 99% is people bothering me with text messages to which I gotta reply "yes" or "no" or "sure" or "call you later" or "6PM" or the 15 most obvious replies you rather make in real time. When you're trying to get 10 people down to the village basketball court to have a game, you gotta send about 50 text messages that are 10 characters long on average. I don't bother to stop doing whatever I'm doing in order to write such a message.
  9. And it survived all that? Jesus, maybe I should really give it a try.
  10. Nexus 4 actually really does tick most of the boxes, it even is the first android phone to provide Ubuntu Touch support ever! I just always fear that these Nexuses can't really follow my lifestyle. If only there was something more rugged...
  11. Interesting, I'm afraid though I don't quite see "how" or "why", these phones should be more durable than anything else. It seems like a simple LG with Gorilla glass 2.
  12. I like to spend sub 250€ on my phone. As stated above, OUKITEL K4000 costs 100€, I'm not going to spend over 200€ for a phone unless it's pretty close to perfect =) But if there was somehow a way to find a perfect phone, I'd probably pay as much as 500€.
  13. The Z5 compact really isn't too cheap, but there's other issues, the main being glass back. I've seen people break their glass cover on both front and rear sides of the phone. I prefer polycarbonate, also sealed in battery is kind of an issue (forogot to mention that in the main comment). If I was really a fan of Sony phones, I'd get a Z1 Compact (you can get a new one form Aliexpress for 160€). The grip the phone (Z1 compact) provides is great BTW, because of the rubber sides, and the screen size is ideal!
