  1. @Devin92 Thank you! Saving this option to my speadsheet.
  2. @Devin92 Yeah, the S340 has air filter and i think i'll stick with 3 fans (2 intake 1 exhaust) Thank you for your advise! What fans do you recommend? 2x 120mm intake and 120 exhaust or 2x 140mm intake and 1 120mm exhaust? And any trusted brands what you consider good for this type of setup (air filter etc).
  3. @herman mcpootis As i've seen from reviews and testing they are recommending this PSU for mid range builds, because it has a decent quality, btw i do not want to change the PSU, but thank you for your suggestion! . @Devin92 1. Yeah I'm more likely to get the 6400 because 20$ is 20$ . 2. So if i get it right, 2 Fans for intake and leave only 1 as exhaust? 3. Yeah that might be just rumor. 4. In my area the summer is critical, it usually between 30-36 °C and I don't turn on the A/C often because my cat gets cold and sneezing Poor little fellow :D. Thank you for your reply!
  4. Hi guys! I've got couple questions that's need to be answered before i start my new (and first) PC build. I only use my PC 2-5 hours a day and the budget is limited (as usual), I only play GTA 5 and ordering Battlefield 1.It will be a 1080p, single monitor mid range setup and the games set to medium/ high. I upgraded my old PC with SSD,GPU,PSU to a point where i need the 3 main components to be replaced (CPU+RAM+Mobo). I've decided what will be the most parts but I have some questions left (after searching on the forums and other reviews.) R.C. (Reason of Choice) Case: NZXT S340 - R.C.: The Video Card is 31cm long and i needed a case what fits it and there's no drive cage in the way of the front fans CPU: Intel i5-6400 or Intel i5-6500 - R.C.: I'd like to use DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3 and also they are newer CPUs with better support than I5-4460. (I do not plan on overclocking). RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black CL14 2133Mhz 16GB (Dual channel 2x8 GB) - R.C.: 8 Gigs would be fine but I'm alt+tabbing a lot and checking something on google ( usually with Chrome). Mobo: Asus H170-PRO - R.C.: I do not plan on overclocking thats why not the Z170 and i know it's an expensive motherboard but i wanted something good quality and resistant against electricity fluctuation. CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X - R.C.: X series has better bearings over the EVO so It lasts longer and has an improved design on the heat sink (I know i will never get to a point where the fans would die on me but its good to have.) GPU: R9 270x TOXIC OC Edition R.C.: At the time it was the best 200$ GPU in the mid range category. PSU: EVGA 500B - R.C.: Good quality PSU, good reviews and japanise capacitors. Storage: 120GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 500 GB Samsung 7200 RMP HDD. R.C.: Kept it from the older PC, Windows and GTA 5 on the SSD other data on the HDD (Standard). Case fans: ??? 10-15$ each. (2x 140 mm front, 2x 120 mm back?) -Questions: -Which CPU should i get? As i mentioned i do not plan on overclocking the i5-6400 is 194$ and the i5-6500 is 214$. The difference between these two as 3-5 FPS and 5-7% in performance. Is it worth the 20$? The whole budget to the Case(75$)+CPU (194$ or 214$)+Cooler(42$)+RAM(85$)+Case fans (45-55$ 10-15$ each? )+Motherboard(125$) would be around 500$-550$. -What case fans would be good for that S340, it has an air filter for the front fans( Maybe Static pressure fans? 140MM 2x on front and 2x 120 MM at the back i know the additional 2 fans (1 front 1 back) only means 1-2 degrees lower temps but it might be an overkill and waste of money, that's why i ask you guys! . -Can high voltage (1.5V) ram damage the Skylake CPUs? That's about it. I'm sorry if i know something wrong, feel free to tell me. English isn't my native language. I really appreciate your time and effort in reading and answering to me.
  5. oh the 6400 supports DDR4-1866/2133 which is the same price as the ddr3 1600 Mhz. But I'm a but afraid of the i5-6400 this is a really new chip only 6 months old, is it a risk? I mean will we have support and good drivers just like the 4460 has. The 6-7% performance increase vs the "risk" in the new chipset. I might be silly here, but will it be successful?
  6. The MoBo costs less, and the ram costs more its evens eachother out.
  7. Oh, the 6400 is in the same price with the 4460 and there's atleast 7-10% performance difference over the 4460! I'll defenetly go with the 6400!
  8. Thanks, I think i'll be good with the 212 EVO, i'll be probably outside most of the time at summer .
  9. Hi, thanks for the answare! I'll check out the 6400 Skylake!
  10. Thank you, Starelementpoke! The NZXT S340 looks fantastic and it's in my budget, I think i'll go with that! and get 2 Noctua fans. 120 or 140 btw? The aftermarket cooler will be needed imo, the summer gets quite hot here.
  11. Hi guys! I've an old PC with some new components and I want to upgrade to a mid range PC. I'll give you the specs what will I keep. I need your suggestions this will be my first build. OLD PC: CPU: Q6600 2.4 Ghz LGA775 ( 9 years old CPU, with an Arctic cooler (~1600 RPM) I can't find the exact model). PSU: EVGA 500B (500W) [KEEP] GPU: R9 270x Toxic Edition (2Gb VRAM) [KEEP] SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB [KEEP] HDD: Samsung 500 GB 7200 RMP [KEEP] RAM: 2x 2GB Kingston DDR2 800 Mhz MOBO: Gigabyte EP41-UD3L -Budget & Location: ~140K HUF, ~500 USD, ~443 EUR. I'm from Hungary (Please keep in mind that the component's price might be different because we have 27% tax rate, I know it's bad but we have to deal with it ). -Aim & upgrade reasons: I usually play a couple of hours in a week, so a mid range PC will do it for me, I don't want to overclock the CPU or RAM. (Probably won't upgrade in the next 2-3 years, the 500 GB HDD is half empty and more than enough to my data.). I'd use it for play some games at 1080p mid-high setting at 60 FPS. Mainly GTA 5 and some Battlefield 3. I only use one application at a time (e.g. If i play games I won't open facebook, youtube etc.). I won't use any video editing or 3D software. The CPU is bottlenecking the GPU and if I want to change it I need to change the RAM and the Mother Board too and now I'm ready for my first build . I'm using Windows 8.1 (64 bit) as OP system. -Monitor(s): LG 2240W (simple 1080p Monitor) I know it's a bad monitor for my new rig because it has only VGA port and I won't get the proper image quality (as HDMI / DVI). I'm planning on buying a new one but in the future. - I used 3-4 power consumption calculators and the underload avarage was around 370W, so the 500W PSU will be enough in my opinion. New PC plan: CPU: Intel i5-4460 3.2Ghz LGA1150 - (52K HUF, ~186 USD, ~ 164 EUR) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E - (10K HUF, ~36 USD, ~31 EUR) I've Arctic MX-4 as the Thermal compound. RAM: 2X Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (CL10) - (12K HUF, ~43 USD, ~38 EUR) Mother Board: ASUS H97-PRO - (33K HUF, ~118 USD, ~104 EUR) Tower(ATX?!): I need a suggestion because the GPU is 31 cm long (12.2 inches). The PSU should be located at the bottom of the case. The HDD and SSD holding brackets should not cover the GPU from the intake fan. The budget for it is around 20-27k HUF, ~71-76 USD, ~63-85 EUR. 2 Case fans: Also need a suggestion, maybe Cooler Master or Noctua? Simple setup: 1 exhaust and 1 intake. 120 or 140 mm depends on the case. Budget: ~3k HUF, ~11 USD, ~9 EUR / FAN Total: 136K HUF, ~486 USD, ~430 EUR. (Might be slight difference because the delivery cost is not included.) I really appreciate your time and effort, you read and/or answare to this topic!
  12. Hi guys! I need your help because i can't choose the right PSU. Please, recommend what you think would be better other than the listed! The cooler master power supply calculator says the system will need atleast 402W. The listed 3 PSU's have 6 SATA cables which is more than enough for my 2 HDDs. 80 silver or 80 gold would be great, maybe 80 bronze! Would 600W PSU an over kill because of efficiency? I also need 2x6pin connector. I don't need a modular or any fancy PSU just a standard one with atleast 4-6 SATA and 2 6pin connectors. I want to be safe so my components won't get damaged!!! What i've looked for is: Cooler Master Elite Power 600W RS600-ACABM-WB (2x6pin) 48$ Cooler Master B500 ver.2 500W (2x6pin) 46$ Cooler Master B2 500W - RS500-ACABB1-EU (2x6+2pin) 48$ I'm on my budget. so the maximum i could spend on it is about 50-55$. My rig: FX-6300 2 HDDs (Sata 3.0 1TB and a 500GB Sata 3.0) Sapphire Toxic R9 270X 1 optical drive (currently not plugged in because i don't use it.) I'd really appreciate your support! I've heard you are a great community, and happy new year!
