Help understanding uninstall of Crimson drivers
Joiner48 replied to Joiner48's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Ah ok, any other advise on update the drivers properly while removing others? -
Hey guys, looking for some guidance on solving my Radeon settings app not showing up, either in my programs list or on the desktop. I let AMD Gaming evolve automatically update to 16.5.2.1 But since then i cant find where to open the Crimson video/overdrive app. I looked up the release notes on the driver and found this: Radeon Settings Additional Settings page may not be available when upgrading to Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.5.2.1 from the current windows update driver. As a work around please clean uninstall all current Radeon Software when upgrading if your system exhibits this issue. This all started after trying to get Forza 6 beta going last weekend and I suspect it was my required update to 16.5.1 beta driver? Next day is when Gaming evolved updated to the current driver that I started to notice the problem. Iv'e never had this problem and have had other updates go smoothly. I do suspect thou in my noobness careless install/updates without scrubing out previous drivers(back to the CCC days) may have something to do with it. I'm running Win 10 64bit with a R9 280 Gigabyte windforce Iv'e seen a few videos on youtube about using windows unistall program to wipe all AMD away the installing the latest driver, and others recommend running a DDU. But what scares me is others who say it then goes into safe mode? How does it still display anything if I wipe all my graphic card drivers away? As you can probably tell from this post its no wonder how I tie my shoes let alone update my driver...please help...

Again this maybe a total noob thing to say: I got from that, my R9 280 does just fine on a 500w PSU, My i3 has a TDP of 54watts and if I step up to a 15-4690k its almost double @ 88 TDP. How can I tell if I've got the headroom on my PSU? especially if I decide to overclock? Again, thanks for all the help

You'll have to dumb that first part down for this noob. Is that a website where i cn punch in all my specs? Thanks for the help

So CPU is the next best thing to do. Should I be worried about the total TWP (total wattage??) of jumping to a i5 Sorry if I butchered the description of that, but do you know what i mean? Isn't each processor rated to have different power requirements? Is there somewhere I can find out my total draw?

Learn to stay away from Tim Hortons, bring gloves/mittens and jump on/off the Canucks bandwagon. P.s. Bring your sense of humor But seriously, mass transportation sucks outside of Vancouver so expect to get a car or bus pass right away

Built my budget gaming PC last year around this time, and its served me well up to now. No real complaints with it, haven't found a game I can't run 75Fps @ 1080p on my 50" Samsung Plasma TV. Will be returning a gift I got this Christmas for a cash card. It's itching at me to spend it on my rig. Specs are as follows: CPU: Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 Micro ATX LGA1150 Mobo Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: A-Data XPG SX900 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Running BF4 on medium/high settings 2xmsaa my cpu gets 55-60 degrees and my Gpu stays cool at 50. The N200 comes with 2 case fans (1 in, 1 exhaust) I'm wanting to add another to the intake, to keep my GPU and PCH a little cooler. Does it matter if I don't get an exact match to the stock case fan? Would any fan work? Next: would i be foolish in adding aftermarket CPU cooler? When my GPU's 3 fans start spinning its not a silent machine by any means, but I wear headphones anyways so I dont notice the stock intel CPU cooler. Just wondering if investing in a aftermarket cooler now would be wise, when i do decide to get a K series i5 or i7 down the road. Finally, what should I upgrade next? I spent a little more on my Mobo when i build it the be able to OC in the future. I dont see myself going to a monitor for any more than 60Fps. I'm content with my TV setup, gaming from the couch. So would a true quad core really be a big step for me? I think its the next upgrade but not sure. Any advice is appreciated

Solved. Thanks for all the help. I took Crowes advice and looked into RivaTuner some more. 64 bit wasn't enabled for starters, I added Crimson to the list and set its detection to none and last but not least Mantle in BF4 doesn't support OSD I found out. Thanks

Ya I'm guessing that too. I've updated it as well, wondering if there is a global setting I'm missing?

Sorry if this isn't in the correct area.... After reading all the trouble with Crimson 15.11 and the locked fan speed problems, I installed MSI afterburner and the RivaTuner softeware to show my FPS,Gpu temps and Cpu temps. It worked fine with Crimson 15.11 but when I went to Crimson 15.12..... I enable via my hot key the graphical overlay to show the FPS etc, but i only shows up in the Crimson settings window? Even if its minimized to my task bar? When i start battlefield 4 for example, I can hear my Gigabyte Windforce R9 280 spool up and blow like a mother, but the darn Msi wont show? So now I can game without worry of my fans being locked, but would like to know what my CPU, Gpu temps are in game atleast? Any help would be appreciated
