  1. For anyone vastly familiar with setting up audio setups like this I have a question.. I plan on getting a few of these hum eliminators for my setup but am not sure If I should place one between the output of my Roland VT-3 and the input of my mixer. I am using phantom power on the VT-3 and NOT using phantom power on my mixer but seem to be getting a slight hum though the mic. Could just be my gain setting not being quite right as I am still new to this but I figured I'd ask. Thanks! For context: I am using a Mackie ProFX8V2 Mixer, with the Roland VT-3 Voice transformer as mentioned. I have an AT2035 Mic and everything is connected with cables from monoprice. I should mention the Mic and VT-3 are USED from Guitar Center and the Mixer is brand new (in case anyone thinks that matters).
  2. I don't want to spend a million dollars on a stand but I also don't want cardboard boxes. I am curious what they would go for, I see a bunch of a decent 6 monitor stands that go for 150ish but they only say they can support up to 24" monitors.
  3. I am sure this question has been asked before but I cannot seem to find a good solution. I currently own 3 Identical Asus 24" 1080p monitors and wouldn't mind upgrading to a ultrawide (34") gaming monitor as the main one. Id like to keep the 1080p monitors as I will find a use for them, be it to view virtual machines for work or twitch streams, ect. Depending on the height of the ultrawide I would also like to get 2 smaller monitors (maybe 1440x900 to match the vertical resolution of the ultrawide) and set them up as side monitors to the middle ultrawide. I plan to use the 2x24" monitors on top of the bottom row (so 6 total). I cant seem to find a monitor stand that claims to support this sort of setup. Any ideas?
  4. Delete the files/uninstall other programs then clone the drive over but in reality you should just fresh install..
  5. I want to start this off with saying that I have been diligently searching the web for any information on creating a hackintosh with this motherboard and have found some info but nothing helpful. I watched Linus' hackintosh video and it was quite helpful in the general process but I have a few questions maybe someone can answer: -Can OS X Yosemite 10.10 be installed on this platform? -Do I need to download specific files to get this installed other than something like unibeast, chimera or multibeast? (I know there is the possibility of needing kexts if some hardware doesn't work) -In Linus' video, Luke downloads the DMG for his motherboard of the privoded website but there is only downloads for the newer platforms. Is there anyway I can find the files I need for my motherboard, or do they make generics for Ivy Bridge that I can use? Any help at all guys would be awesome, Thanks! Other Specs: 3770k 12gb DDR3 Evga reference GTX680 Xonar DGX 5.1 soundcard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132052&cm_re=xonar_dgx-_-29-132-052-_-Product Edit: Also, is it possible to follow along with a guide for z77 but just use the newer osx files since all the hackintosh guides from back then are for older versions of osx and the current guides use newer z97 hardware?
  6. I tried pulling the drive and running both of those as well as jelly bean key finder and they gave me keys that would not install with the oem disc. It was definitely the correct version of windows 8 I was trying to install I made sure of that. I also tried running a bootable windows 7 to run them locally but that didn't work out. Ive heard some things about needing a "retail" copy of windows 8 but I was under the assumption that was never created.. I thought it was all oem/upgrades
  7. I am a technician at my local Tiger Direct and now that windows 8 has been out for a while I am running into the occasional hard drive failure in these machines. For a custom build the re-install process is obviously simple because there is a key provided. For oem desktops/laptops the job becomes quite frustrating. The hard drive is dead, not a software problem so holding shift while restarting to do a refresh wont fix the problem. I know the windows 8 installation discs are supposed to access the product key stored in the bios of the computer but in reality it just doesn't. Is there a specific version of the disc that I need to be using because I only have access to copies of a system builders version of windows 8, and 8.1. This has been quite frustrating as we have had huge problems over the fact that we are usually unable to get windows 8 re-installed on a customers computer due to this issue with the product key.
  8. What is that midplate of? It seems most people are using acrylic but does it get ruined under high heat?
  9. I also should have mentioned I am using an asus sound card, so Im guessing I am going to loose that functionality right? I dont really find myself playing games anymore, I am trying to focus on my college studies. I figured I might as well learn Linux now because I figured it can only help me down the line in my career (Computer hardware engineering)
  10. i7 3770k GTX 680 Gigabyte G1 sniper m3 Thats probaly all that matters I would imagine, but the usual, ssd boot drive, 16gb ram, ect. I really have not been playing games lately due to school, but I am going to college for computer engineering and I wanted to get my hands dirty with Linux a little bit. I fully understand that gaming is not there yet on Linux, Rust is the only steam game I own that even is supported on it lol.
  11. As the title states, I am looking to switch to Ubuntu 13.10. I have a few questions about support, features and the like. I currently run a 4 monitor setup, not for surround gaming but general productivity. Will this work on Ubuntu? Will I get similar performance in the games that run on Ubuntu as I do in windows, considering there are no drivers to install? My final question, I think, Is about running a windows 7 virtual machine for games and applications that don't run on Ubuntu. I have been doing alot of research on Xen and "VGA pass through" to obtain accelerated graphics performance. Is there any particularly good guides or walk-throughs on setting it up? Thanks in advance, also any recommendations on software or applications would be much appreciated.
  12. Good to know, thanks for the info
  13. So If I am running 5 monitors, 3 on my 680 and 2 on a random lower end card and I only plan to game on 1 monitor will I loose performance just by having my 680 powering 2 other monitors. These other 2 monitors will be for things like teamspeak, skype, and maybe chrome. Also, if it is better to only plug in my gaming monitor to the 680 are there any cheap-ish graphics cards that will run 4 monitors (again all displaying things like browsers and teamspeak)
  14. Yea that is what I got the idea from, I just really like how the cooler looks.
